@trackspike64 There is also an x-switch in the track, however unidriectional switches can add additional need for tactics. And they were simply part of my first base set... ;-)
@habitoti I own some Carrera cars as I got bit by a set back in 2004 and though I have some 4000 H.O. scale cars and 11 trophies, Carrera has become my number 1 brand. The track is unmatched by any other 1/32 brand. With the new Evolution of 2008 like this video,I am about 100% positive Carrera will attempt to invade aggressively the next new venture...........H.O. Scale They have the technology to do it before FLY does.
@trackspike64 When the lights start to blink, you need to enter the pit-lane (like changing lanes by pressing the button on the controller in time). When the lights stop blinking, you are "refueled". If you miss the pitstop for another round, the motor start to stutter and the car gets slower.

Looks great! Do you have 6 people to run the cars in the post or do you have them set to run automatically? I have the 124 set and can run 4 cars. Is it the same set up for the 6 132 cars or is somthing different. I might want to go to 6 132 cars. Thanks Ron
No, there were 4 people actually driving and the rest were ghost cars. Of course you won't get a neat film by just driving around like this. You need to setup the whole thing for each individual take again (considering previous order of cars etc.), and then need to do some clever cutting later on so that it looks like a seamless take of a continous race ;-)
Yes, there are upgrade kits available for a lot of Evolution cars. For most others that don't fit out of the box, you can make it also work with some additional effort.
2, but I think (don't know, though) they can be extended by a multiplex box add-on for up to 4. Or you can extend them with max. 4 wireless controllers (as I use), yielding a total of 6.
It is not mandatory, but it can enhance gameplay significantly if you switch on virtual fuel usage. Whenever cars run out of fuel, their lights start blinking and after a while they get slower and even begin to stutter until you drive into the pitlane for refueling. When lights stop blinking, car is completely refueled.
Additionaly, the pitlane can "host" a safety car that can be launched for one round, however I don't use that.
The tracks are the same (Evo, Exclusive). You just have additional lane changes and a so called black box to provide the control signals modulated over the constant power supply. And of course the car electronics to decode those signals and convert them to individual speed and lane change control.
I used a pretty old Canon Ixus II with 640x320 Video recording. I took off the car coachwork and fixed the camera with some tape directly on the chassis. You have to drive pretty slow, otherwise it looks jerky later on.
Every 6.5m one tap should work. You don't need them necessarily at all just for driving if you just have the new track system with improved connectors, but the lane changes won't work reliable enough w/o additional power tap close to it (at least that is the case for me, but it might be different for other situations, though).
If your cars miss to change lanes every now and then you need to move the taps closer to the lane changes.
Yes, it is the standard power supply, which is totally sufficient. We have three additional power taps, one next to each lane change, since they don't work reliable else.
No, probably not. I have this one large room for multi purpose activities, and currently the track is disassembled again to make room for other stuff. I am more of the seasonal type of Carrera drivers...
Well that's okay too - I have a lot of interests also and not enough time for any of them. It's nice you can build a good set up when the time is right.
I'm building a Scalextric set up with some scenery.
Actually I don't remember. I think we had 3 or 4 ghosts. Of course this video was quite some work, since I have just one camera, so you have to redo the race (or parts of it) exactly with all previous car positions for different camera angles. This is pretty hard with ghosts, since they changes lanes whenever they "want". And it requires careful video cutting later on to make it look seamless...
No, 7 cars is no problem. Lane changes should not affect that at all. I used additional power supply cables every ~7m, usually next to lane changes (because they suffer most in long tracks)
It was actually just an "old" Canon Ixos II using video mode at 640x320. I used just the chassis of a car and attached the camera with some tape. To make these shots you have to drive pretty slow, otherwise the video gets jerky and un-viewable for people...
I prefer 1/32 since the cars have more room for sliding in the curves and you can have more (and cheaper) cars at the same time on the track. On the other side, the 1/24 cars look really cool and have a much more realistic driving behavior. So its really up to your personal preferences -- you should try to test both first if you are unsure...
This is awesome. I jsut got the GT racers set. What do you have to do to increase track length beyond 10 meters or so. I heard something about more supply. What does that mean?
You need to have additional power supply cables around every 10 meters, otherwise lane changes will fail to switch. These cables are ready-made available from carrera if you don't want to craft them yourself (though it is easy -- just check public Carrera forums for info on that).
