  • i saw moxy in the 70s with lynard skynard at the armadillo world headquarter in austin .that was before the plane crash.long live rock and roll

  • I've been driving my husband crazy with my half baked acoustic bass version of this song. Been looking for it high and low. Thanks for posting it. And Joe Anthony of course was definitely crucial to my love for this band. He personally dubbed my mom "IRON MOM". (thats a whole other chapter) Moxy ruled!

  • I love San Antonio ! I grew up listening to Joe Anthony back in the 70's. KMAC/ Kiss would bring in all the awsome bands that we know and love these days. Rush, Trimph, Moxy, just to name a few. I sure do miss those good ole days!!!

  • Great memories watching this band.... One of the best gigs I ever saw was Moxy at York University in Toronto.

  • Moxy kicked ass for sure!! Now they got lead singer of Killer Dwarfs singing for them. coming to SA in October.

  • Thanks,and much appreciated chrisjewett !!

  • Thanks chrisjewett...glad i could help...Rock On my brother !!

  • @JoeAnthony1963 you got it man!!!!!! without Joe Anthony we would be a soulless commercial rock city like all the others....think about it,Moxy,Legs Diamond,Riot,Budgie,Triumph,British Lions,Etc.,Etc,Etc. All would have slipped through the cracks...oh yeah,Crack The Sky Too!!! LOVE YA MAN!!!

  • Great music..

  • saw them in sa at municipal auditorium with ac/dc kicked ass then and always will!!!! thanks again to JOE ANTHONY&LOU RONEY ROCK ON!!!!! Chris Jewett

  • Back to ol' school 2-nite my friends...

  • This was one of the first tunes I learned on guitar that made me think I might be on to something.

  • the black albumn is so badd ass

  • Have the vinyl. Have the cassette. Had the 8-track. Can still sing and air-guitar every song. Best album ever!

  • Hey every1! check out my acoustic cover of this song. ive got a few more guitar vids too!!

  • I missed school many a Monday morning from chasing this band across Texas. The guys in this band were so friendly and always had time to party with us. Thanks for the memories. My buddy Tammy still has a bracelet Earl gave her off his wrist after a show in San Antonio one hot summer night....ahh to be young again, lol

  • k-she classic in saint louis missouri...either you rock or you suck!

  • Thank You Joe Anthony 99.5 KISS

     RIP

  • Earl Johnson, the lead guitarist taught me how to play guitar. I am about 10 times better at the guitar after about two months with him :)

  • There were many great bands coming out of Canada during the late 70's and early 80's but NONE were better than MOXY!!! Yep that's right They were the best...in MY MIND!!! This is such a beautiful song. But when they wanted to rock they flat out KICKED ASS!!! I just wish there was footage of Moxy with Buzz with audio. God I would have LOVED to have seen them LIVE!!! I'm a bit envious of everyone who did get a chance to see them. I will always cherish my Moxy records. LONG LIVE MOXY! R.I.P. Buzz

  • Their good buddies of mine.

  • Totally love these guys...saw them in the 70's in and around Toronto...such great shows and they never disappointed.

  • Although this could be considered a ripoff of Zep's "Over The Hills And Far Away" I like this song a lot. Kicks lots of ass!

  • He was my best friend ......I will never forget him!! Still love to listen to his music like he was here today! oxo

  • thanks

  • Yeah--The Godfather of Rock n Roll, Joe Anthony, put bands like this out there. It was an era never to be repeated.

  • Love this band!

  • MOXY...what an incredible band... I have been listening to them for 35 years...hard to believe...what a killer, yet basic, clean and simple grab-you-by-the-throat sound they had. Their first album is Rock and Roll History...everyone needs to get a copy of that gem. They will always be a favorite of mine.

Other (relatively) unknown bands to add to the wish-they-had-made-it-big list: BUDGIE (absolutely, the best)...DUST...THREE MAN ARMY...and, out of Atlanta, RAGGEDY ANNE!

  • Remember these guys live back in the day at the Gas Works and the Ascot Inn...great memories!

  • I sing this song to myself all the time - It is the ultimate happy-song - Wondering Why - I Never, Never CRY!!!

    God Bless Buzz!!!

  • Wow.. a San Antonio classic thanks to the Godfather... Joe Anthony

  • who posted this you cut the song off way before the end!!!!!!!

  • i for one love moxy

  • because of moxy i wanted to mix rock and country on my style of guitar playin

  • I was at the July 29th 1977 gig in Corpus Christi, Texas. What a show and with AC/DC, killer. Thanks for the flashback. Long Live Rock and Roll.

  • God Bless Joe Anthony!

  • I went inside of their tourbus and met them, except the lead singer was from the killer dwarfs.I was only 15 years old when i met them.Dont believe me?

go to my channel and find the video that says "me going in moxys tourbus"

  • I saw Moxy in a club in Montreal after a Cheap Trick concert at the Forum. Moxy rocked! I haven't heard them since that night in 70's!

  • Great true hard rock.Moxy-Moxy was my fav by them.LIve album Raw is very good too.Wish there was a live album with Buzz too!

  • I can't believe other people remember bands like Moxy, and Rex. I'll bet some of you lisented to Starz as well! Anybody remember a band called Driven from the 80's? Gimme a holler if you have ....Thanks

  • no but im a big starz fan, ever lisend to legs diamond

  • i've heard of legs diamond, but haven't really listened to them..will give them a listen. I actually saw Starz last year in Fresno, Ca. They only played 5 songs and Johnny all alone was not one of them. It was still good though!

  • KSHE 95 Real Rock Radio! Great memories.

  • One of my favorite bands... great drumming! and good songs...They should have been world wide.

Moxy should have been at the top. Life just isn't fair when it comes to Rock-n-Roll.

    Moxy A+

  • KISS 99.5 FM - Joe Anthony "The Godfather of Rock and Roll" discovered them for San Antonio. I saw Moxy at a nightclub called Randys Rodeo in San Antonio when I was young. Joe Anthony Rocks.

  • From one St. Louisan to another.., AMEN BROTHER!!!

KSHE's been around since 67 and still going.

  • My guess is you never heard of KSHE 95 in STL. Oldest R&R station in the country. Don't pat your back too hard. We were waaaaaay ahead of you.

  • No way Jose. We heard of "The Pig" back then. I sat on the stage for Rush in San Antonio and Moxy B4 they were big. Joe Anthony IS "The Godfather of Rock and Roll"

  • This band was one of the best hard rock bands of all time! If it weren't for Joe Anthony and Lou Roney we might not have ever heard them and a lot of bands from this era. Those guys, on KMAC/KISS, in the mid 70's brought all of the great bands to us. If you check out live albums from bands like Thin Lizzy, Rush and several others you'll see a special thanks to those 2 guys. If it weren't for KMAC AM in those days we would have not heard a lot of awesome music that is TIMELESS!

  • I never could figure out why they never hit it bigger than they did overall, but was pleased to find out that in TX in general & San Antonio in particular, they got the recognition I always thought they deseved.

  • saw them in Allentown, PA. in '75. GREAT show....very much like early Rush. Great band and very much underated. Never had the limelight and never received what they deserved, much like ohhh.....Montrose, Captain Beyond, Hawkwind, Tempest, Trapeze, UFO and so on. Moxy was and is still a great band. Thanks!!!!!

  • @ballsofun

I was at a show there too!

Chumby, Moxy, Angel,Leslie West, and Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow

    Great show

  • MOXY!!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw Moxy in SA at the Municipal Auditorium July 28th 1977. I still have my ticket stub! Opening for them was Rex and AC/DC. That was one kick concert. SA was THE place for headlining new bands...

  • @georgiatechur From what I I've heard SA was a great place for new bands....many of them Canadian, sounds like a great place and era to have been a part of!

  • @georgiatechur

Was at that Concert myself Damn Municipal Rocked!!

  • @georgiatechur I was there too. FANTASTIC!!!

  • @georgiatechur Stop by to check mine out

Live shows of Various Artist here in San Antonio

Some Really good stuff if you ask me

    Feedback is A+ hd available

    & chk out my story I was only 7 in 77 ;o))))))')

  • I saw these guys in concert the day after I graduated from high school in 1977, loved this song, had the 8 track and the vinyl. Still play the vinyl, great band!!

  • MOXY...one of the greatest bands few people have heard of. Or not enough people have heard of anyway. I tell everyone I know about them, and BUDGIE, and BABE RUTH, and LEGS DIAMOND, and PAVLOVS DOG. Stuff I grew up listening to.

  • @jlid1

Since you too are a Budgie fan, i'll have to check out your others and i may as well throw in a few of my HIGHLY UNDERRATED Bands.....

    CRACK THE SKY........ARTFUL DODGER (70's).......ANGEL

  • @jlid1 , Amen to you, my brother!!!

  • @jlid1 OMG Mee too. You're right about their anonymity.

  • @jlid1 OMG Mee too. You're right about their anonymity. Had their black album and their red album.

  • @jlid1 Babe Ruth opened for Blue oyster Cult and Styx in the first concert that I ever saw. It was great!

  • t is a TOTAL shame that mainstream music has become what it is today, and that is basically ANOTHER money grubbing politically motivated WHORE! Many bands are TOLD what to play OR YOU do NOT get PAID! Follow US OR be CAST OUT! RUSH was on that path up until 2112! Follow the John Mellencamp road to OUR IDIOT FANBASE who know NOTHING about music or IT`s history! Follow the "Mainsteram" even though it lacks intelligence, and originality! We do NOT want to explore NEW paths of music!.

  • AC/DC found out about Brian Johnson from a fan in Cleveland who wrote them when ACDC was based in London to get Brian Johnson of Geordie becouse he would fit with them.. I have heard about Moxy but I had no idea that they were that huge in Texas..Thanks for the posts..

  • Oh yea. We used to go see them in Austin & SA in the '70's. Listened to them on KMAC-KISS & KLBJ. Still looking for a concert T-Shirt from the Sunken Gardens show a few years ago with the Texas Flag on it.

  • It is just amaziing that they only broke regionally at the time like the Midwest and Texas and the East and West Coast, I guess that is rock n roll!!..Great band thou!!..You are lucky you have got to see them in the 70's...Peace

  • @Brucev7 what's it worth? got one!

  • @munerider not worn?

  • Moxy had a cult following a lot of places, but here in Indy for some reason the rock stations wouldn't spin 'em! When I found out how huge they were in Texas & other parts of the South, I was glad to see SOMEONE had been paying attention! Thought about moving to Texas 'cause I'd also get to hear 'em on the classic rock stations there! Yeah, that really was one of the considerations!:D

  • That is deep bro..Peace. Long live Moxy!!

  • Thanks! And the same! Yeah, a lotta good rock & roll got lost in the shuffle back in that era. Saw where someone said Rex opened for Moxy & AC/DC on one of those tours.

Rex & Nazareth opened for REO Speedwagon here in 1977 when REO recorded their live album, "You Get What You Play For," which I think caught them at the zenith of what they had to offer as a hard rock band. By comparison, you had to LISTEN for the "edge" in their later, more successful music. Ouite a show, that was!

  • San Antonio (:

  • In the refrain, Moxy's lead singer sounds an awful lot like Geddy Lee, especially in songs like "Closer To The Heart" and "In The Mood."

  • Iron Maidon opened for the scorps back in the day. Numnber of the beast baby....Convention Center Arena . Remember Sneakers.....

  • ACDC's first choice was Nazareth's Dan McCafferty. He turned them down to stay with Nazareth. At the time, I'm sure it seemed like a wise choice as ACDC basically sucked. In hindsight however...

  • Is it just me, or does Buddy Caine look EXACTLY like Boston's Barry Goodreau?

Moxy was a great band. My favorite song by then is this one, but "Fantasy" is a close second.

  • I just came back from one of their concerts, and i was able to go in their tour bus and meet them.I also got a used drumstick from the drummer.Probably because he was drunk haha.Check out my videos to see the video of when i went in their tourbus.

  • San Antonio is still considered the metal capital of Texas. I live in Austin and travel there for all my shows, WASP, DIO, Motley, Scorps, Iron Maiden etc. Check out KZEP 104.5 - stream it online, its SA classic metal station.

  • this is Pablo..I used to manage the Showcase for Carlos..here in San Antonio , Tx...I remember Moxy opening for Black Sabbath in 75 at the old municipal auditorium..

  • thenn wanted him to sing as an acdc menber

  • I too grew up listening to this on KSHE in St. Louis. In fact, I heard it today on KHITS (KSHE's sister station), it was today's "Klose's Cut Above," and I just wanted to hear it again!

  • Cerphe, a Washington D.C. deejay icon, used to play this on WAVA 105.1 fm back in the day. This song is the soundtrack to my feelings for a girl, Auriela, I had in high school. I loved this song, and I loved her! I play this song on my Les Paul and 12-string still. Wish I could sing it!

  • are they back together? new album coming!???

  • My brother had all of their albums..they played the high school circuit in the 70's..also Wireless..Max Webster, Triumph and Rush-good old TO bands!

  • wooo san antonio back in the day when they used to play this kicked ass san antonio used to be the rock capital of the U.S

  • u mean the heavy metal capital of the usa

  • Dude's right: San Antonio, Texas was known as the Heavy Metal Capitol once upon a time ago. Saw D.Leppard the 1st three times they came here, Saw Scorps on Animal Magnitism & The Blackout tours, and the list goes on and on. Still have most of the concert tik stubs also.

  • Your damn right San Antonio was and still is the heavy metal capital..mostly thanks to the legendary kiss radio station dj - Joe Anthony..this is Pablo, I used to manage the Showcase for Carlos..I remember seeing Moxy open up for Black Sabbath in 75 at the old municipal auditorium..and before that..Moxy opened for Boston at the convention center

  • cant wait to see em!!!

  • grew up in hard side of town SA, Tx, only escape was tunes on the radio waves ,Lou Roney, Joe Anthony was givenin alot of air to Moxy,Legs Dimaons and others. Pass by the Godfather Pizzaeria some many times on foot to young to step in alone. Never got a chance to meet Lou or Joe at the pizzaeria. But I knew a big band was in town or heading into SA

KMAC and KISS would broadcast the concert live and free!!!!! ROCK ON EVERYONE(where's my lighter?)

  • niperguns: Are you still in the SA area? Those WERE THE DAYS!! We could get both stations here in Austin and Thank God for Lou and Joe!! They played the tunes we wanted and needed to hear! Joe Anthony...R.I.P. He KNEW music when he heard it and passed it on to us. I would give anything to have access to stations like that now. Some things just can't be reproduced and you gotta say like George Lopez..."You 'member?" Yes, I 'member. Peace. :)

  • JoeLou Productions rocked! Legs, Moxy, Mahogany Rush, Budgie, April Wine, UFO, Scorpions. Dare I mention Oz Knozz? Too Smooth? Haioka???

  • YAY Budgie!!!!! most underrated band of the 70s... they could really rock, but my fav song is very mellow - Slip Away

  • I love it! That's straight outta "Dazed And Confused." God Bless the 70s before disco took over!

  • Can't get this song on iTunes; the album is getting harder to find all the time.

  • I`ve got all the moxy cd`s! They ROCK!!

  • Imagine my delight when I saw this great song on youtube. Then imagine me yelling "what the fuck?" at my computer when the song was cut off short. I guess I should be grateful for what of the song there is. Thanks.

  • BUZZ WAS THE MAN

  • One of the best guitar hooks in rock. Love this song.

  • I played this some at my wedding in 1982

Still get's brought up at parties.

TKS Moxy for all the memories

  • That sounds like the perfect (You might be a redneck) I wish I had the nerve to played it at mine.Instead I settled for my wife sang a Rod Stewart song (Lately I love you) You rocked man with that!

  • This song enjoyed a brief resurgence in 1982! I remember hearing it all the time on the local FM AOR station.
