This might surprise you, but for its Core architecture, Intel went back to the P3 and based it on that, rather than the P4. Well, actually it was based on Pentium Pro, but that was a modified P3.

pentium 3 is expensive. I use pentium 2, it's not as bad as they make it seem like in the apple commercials

I have both a Ati video card and AMD cpu and from personal experience Intel and Nvidia are better for gaming. Other then that the only difference would be price.

AMD isn't that BAD. But.. Intel is more advanced now, and the fanboys have to accept it. I think intel is in the lead cuz it's not much of an asshole as AMD is.

No P3 was ever slower to current Athlon generations, but had to wait for the newer programs with 3Dnow support.

Yes AMD is absolutely crap. I think people who are rating it low have either: Never used Intel, have only used older Intel processors, don't have the guts to admit that AMD is bad, or are only saying that they like ATI which is now owned by AMD.

I have given AMD 3 chanaces in my builds, they always die in 2 or so yrs (I never OC'd them or anything fancy, too). I'm sticking with Intel.

to techforthought: You're right. Most if not all of the time. AMD fanboys are so annoying. They don't realize they they're trying to copy Intel in some ways (which makes sense since AMD sues Intel for mainly no reason and started a year after them.)

How can you not help but copy intel though. They are both in the same processor architecture areas so they are bound to be alike. Im not saying that either is terrible. I just think that getting this worked up over processors is not worth it. Also intel has been aound since the 1960's but AMD was established much later. Also all fanboys are annoying though you must agree to that

Spread out a year from each other since they started, but AMD might have started making processors later. I must say yeah I can be annoying rooting for Intel, but add on that they can usually deliver better performance, AMD fans can't really say that much/ Especially when they compare new AMDs to older Intels. Like saying AMD is better because the Phenom II is beter than the Pentium IV. NO KIDDING. Compare it to the soon out i9s maybe.... maybe some Core 2 Extremes.
