There are profane comedians who are incredibly hilarious (Louis CK, Gervais, Rock, Chappelle, Carlin), but many more profane comedians who are just idiots and rely on shock value of their profanities for humor. Seinfeld achieves the same level of hilarity as Gervais, Rock, Carlin, etc., and the only difference is that he uses materials that do not require profanity.

HIs seatbelt joke didn't really work. Plane safety belts are nothing like car safety belts. In fact in a study on Aircraft Emergency landings the main killer was death by fire, because in a panic people struggled with the safety belt, being more familiar with car safety belts. Just a thought.
