  • I have the lower quality so this looks great to me

  • nice job there pal..this is one of the better rc videos on youtube..should be alot more hits than this..

  • I could not find any 808 HD Keychain with video out

are there any of these at all ?

    Thanks

  • One question, what RC gear are you using for FPV. Any long range system?

  • Excellent video and work.

It's such a shame that you don't get more hits on this. Have you talked to other Youtubers? Perhaps you should try to get a hold of Dave of RCPowers. While your channel is focused on a different area of R/C, I'd guess 80%+ of his traffic would find your video's amazing as well.

    Please keep it up.

  • Bruce,

where is the airfield/runway? Christchurch? No worries if its confid. James

  • Could you please post a link to where you got yours from? Everybody wants to know.

  • I was thinking of using one of these for my helmet cam for airsofting.. you think it would be alright for that

  • 0:52 you recorded another plane in the air=))

  • Any details on where you got this cam from? I'd like something like this small an light with HD for smaller planes when not using the Hero.

  • There is a #12 808 key chain that has video output for FPV. Unfortunately it's sold in Thailand for $50 and not a secure method of payment.

  • awesome! HD keychain spy cam! Can't wait to get mine~~

  • you might ike to try a tiny dab of modelling cly over the microphone hole on your key chain cam it worked a treat for me

  • cool video , can you please me the link where you buy it from

  • Where's the link for the camera? I've checked your website, its not there! Your new "weekly update" says its decent but still doesn't tell us where we can get one.

  • Could you tell or perhaps show what kind of 'ground station' you're using for this FPV flying?

  • Excellent vid. I just ordered two of these keychain cameras!

Is there a good cheap way to determine how much harmonics is put out by my 900MHz transmitters?

  • @videoguy837 Apart from throwing them on a spectrum analyzer, no there's no "easy" way. I'm going to do a spectral analysis of the HK 900MHz stuff and see how it looks. I'll also be making a 1GHz low-pass filter that should significantly reduce any harmonic output.

  • well, i found a spot for my new house, lol very beautiful country side

  • were do you but it from and for how much

  • how much does the plane weigh flight-ready? I'm going to put my not-yet-received Hobby King 900mhz FPV system on a 3.1 meter, electric (pusher-prop) glider that's never been flown yet and it needs a LOT of nose ballast.

Not that it means anything to you. Just wondering what your plane weighs.

  • @CrackerMcGillicuddy I haven't actually weighed the model but this weekend I fitted 2x4400mAH 3S lipos for extra endurance/range and they represent almost 1Kg of weight on their own so I figure it's probably around 3Kg or so by now. The 8800mA of battery allowed me to fly for 35 minutes with 3500mAH in reserve

  • @RCModelReviews Thanks for the reply. If your plane is at 3kg, it weighs almost as much as my big 'ol Robbe ASW-19 EP 3.1 meter glider when it's balanced. It's a big old bird that was never finished or flown and I'm worrying about crashing on its maiden. I guess it'll fly (I hope).

  • @CrackerMcGillicuddy Weight matters a whole lot less than you'd think. Just remember it might respond sluggish at slower speeds and you might not be able to launch it yourself by throwing it, but even that depends a bit on the circumstances.

It should be a blast to fly as a slope soarer.

  • Hi - your video is not avaiable in Germany... (because of the music) - could you audioswap, please?

  • @TheRealblueangel There should be no restriction because I paid to license the music so it's all legal

  • Hey Bruce, love the show slowly getting into fpv waiting to see you reviews on the different frequency's before I buy the gear question thou.

Can you run the arial for the transmitter on the plane through the struts inside one wing if you have the room? Regards Aussie :)

  • Bruce where do you buy it?

  • hum, damn rolling shutter, to much vibration for a steady image,

you need get a more balanced propeller :P

  • I appreciate you replacing the sound with some music, the motor noise on most of those types of videos is extremely obnoxious.

  • excellent video quality and light handling capabilities. I will be looking into purchasing one myself.

  • Dam I have got to get one. Where did you get yours and what was the total cost with shipping?

  • is there any way to get a RCA A / V signal out of it to plug into a transmitter?

  • Great test and great video, anybody now can have an idea about this cam.

    It's very helpful.

Will you make review of the 900mhz fpv systeme of that flight too?

  • Awesome video as usual! :) Some awesome scenery to behold in those parts! :)

  • I found the camera and i should have one drop on my front door mat any day now fingers crossed that is ;-) i think it's a real good picture to the key chain i use to use but this one is 720p so that might have something to do with it lol.

  • Very interesting video, good quality for $40, c'mon Bruce, fess up, Where did you get it from.

  • Hi there... I have a few questions... I have recently bought the HK 900Mhz 1500mW PAL system. I fly on Assan X8. Do you think the Video Tx would reduce the range of my Assan Tx significantly? Also could you please let me know the source of this Keychain HD camera. I have the 808 version which is CRAP. Thanks.

  • Very cool :-)

  • thanks for the test, was hopping on this one. Guess i have to get a bigger plane instead so i can use the gopro.

  • You can get a firmware patch that removes the time stamp on these cameras altogether. RCGroups has a thread about them; instructions are on the first page.

  • @Flash5Cartooning Yes, I've not even had time to set the timestamp/creation-date let alone apply the patch - but I will. It only arrived a day ago and I was keen to get some video up for those who are contemplating purchasing one for themselves.

  • @RCModelReviews I totally understand. My first few flights with this camera also have the wrong time stamp on them. :)

  • you should make a close by flight with the other epp!

  • You mistake card classes which are MBytes wit camera rate which is MegaBits ;)

For a 10mbit camera, class 4 is enough. The drops are not due to card, this is what the camera processor is able.

  • @renatoa You are correct (my bad). The card ratings are in megaBYTES/sec, the camera datastream is in megaBITs/sec. Thanks for pointing out my error!

  • Why would you pay $40 for this, when you can get the Sony webbie / bloggie sleeper gem for $60 used on ebay, or $99 new ?

And the class difference is ...

  • @renatoa Because the 808 keychain camera is *much* lighter and smaller than the Bloggie so you can fit it to far smaller aircraft.

  • @renatoa Because this camera is tiny and only weighs a few grams.

  • Where can we get these HD keychain cameras Bruce?

  • I just received one of these HD keychains but haven't had an opportunity to try it out.

What size/class SD card you using?

At a 1/10th the cost of a gopro and a fraction of the weight they seem to do a pretty decent job.

    Thanks for the demo.

  • @bcalv You arnt seriously comparing this to be equal to the gopro HD's quality are you? Because honestly, no. Oversaturated, stepped brightness, and framerate to cry about. I guess if its cheap enough its still fun, but it aint no gopro, not by a long shot.

  • @SvenOkonomi I have to admit that it's not as good as I'd hoped when I first saw some video taken from them. Great for fixed-location shooting but definitely has limitations for aerial video. However, for the price ($40 versus $250 or so for the GoPro), the value is certainly there. There's some vignetting in the corners, the framerate does slow with high-movement levels and the color balance is pretty unsteady but, compared to the old SD keychain cameras, it's brilliant!

  • @bcalv I grabbed a KingMax 8GB "class 10" card from DealExtreme for $22 but I don't think this card really does offer 10mbps -- there are frame-drops on scenes with lots of movement. The camera records at 7mbps so you really do want a good card to keep up. A class 4 card (for instance) only supports 4mbps so would become jerky with frame-loss on hi-movement scences. However, Class 6 is the fastest "official" speed for MicroSD cards so anything faster is a crap-shoot.
