No one said our presenter was right! One of the things we love about aviation is getting down the airfield and arguing about what is good and what isn't. So if your can put a great video clip together and some narration from the other perspective then send it too us! We'll be the first to run it and we mean it. We could have been another PR show for manufacturers but we wanted to reflect the reality of the richness of opinion and diversity in aviation, just like in cars or boats.

couldnt agree with you more about the Cessna, in my opinon, they are not much different than GM or Ford, they build what they want and because they can produce the numbers that large commercial schools and organizations like the Civil Air Patrol need they get large contracts, which keeps thier airplanes on the ramp, thus increasing exposure for thier company, then they buy out thier competition (columbia) to further stiffle creativity.. Sky catcher is just a dressed up 152 , anyone can see that

I get your points but I guess like anything Cessna as a brand is open to as much praise as criticism. It just seems a shame that with all their incredible know how and skills they can't make attractive looking aircraft on their own. Come on Cessna! Draw some crazy sleek lines on a bit of paper, then put one of your aircraft inside it. I'd buy that straight away. But then that's just my view!

P.S. People are going to be disappointed if they think pilots are rednecks. Most pilots have made their own way in life. They don't rely on others, but create jobs for others. They develop products like this computer and have allowed us to express our views, emotions, creativity and more in ways we could never have dreamed of. Thanks to people like pilots.

That is why despite the lessons of history, we keep making the same mistakes again and again. It is only by working with people's natural need for excitment, for freedom and pleasure and then guiding them towards a sustainable future, that we can save the planet and continue to have fun. Surely having both would be best outcome anyway?

So in fact, by encouraging new technology, we are saving the world. I have spent many weeks living and working with environmentalists and I agree with much of what they say. The problem is many of them simply believe that saying, "stop doing that now or I'll get upset" works. It doesn`t. In fact it is this attitude that has lead directly to the rise of many elements of anti-culture. People at heart will always resist being told what to do, even if what they are being told is right.

The PROBLEM is not aircraft but the power source. The good thing is thanks to new technology it's changing. Electric engines are developing staggeringly fast because of the growth&demand from pilots. Fuel efficiency has been cut because of the same demand. Some aircraft now have the same fuel economy per mile as everyday cars, but they don't sit in traffic pumping out pollutants directly into people's lungs. Take it to an extreme and road cars should be banned, everyone should be flying.

The simple answer is that people want to fly and fundamentally what is wrong with that? People need excitment to survive, or they become frustrated. For many, enjoying computer games or movies is enough but for many its not. Just look at the amount of people commiting crimes through boredom because they have nothing better to do. Wouldn't it be better that they were flying, than stealing a car or becoming part of a gang and killing someone through frustration?
