people shut the fuck upp!! who is the one spreading dumbass lies!!?? saying "oh these dogs belong in the wild because they didnt evolve like other dogs" man they were raised with tribes from their country of origins and have served as hunting and watchdogs just cuz they are ancient doesnt make them "wild" they're just like any dog and by the way go look up tibetan mastiff see a real ancient dog that can do real harm
I l;ove this breed and have really put in alot of research i think one of these beautiful dogs would really love and be nice addition to my new home in which i already have a LabraBull "Lab/Pitbull mix puppy.
It's a mutt. Probably a cute one, but a mutt nonetheless. Don't try to create some new "breed" of dog. There are no Morkiepoos, Cockapoos, Labradoodles, or Labrabulls. They are MUTTS. And our shelters are killing enough of these poor mutts.
I would really like one of these beautiful animals. I'm quite good with dogs and know how to handle even the more aggressive ones. I've actually fallen in love with this species of dog and when I'm older and can sustain myself, I am definitely looking into bringing one over to Northern Ireland to own.
Just a few questions. Are these pure breeds? They certainly look like pure breeds, but from everything Ive read they don't play bow, witch it looks like your dog is doing. Secondly, are those shock collars? Do they work to keep them from escaping? And last, what did you do to get these dogs, i.e. ware did you get them, r u conducting research blah blah blah, because I would really like to get one or two of them, preferably as puppys, and i want to know how difficult it would be to obtain pure 1s
gorgeous dogs. i saw one for the first time in person at the san diego zoo and was shocked at how similar they look to shiba inus. looove the foxy appearance.
Have you had these since they were Pups or were they adopted later? That may explain why they are as aloof as they are and unwilling to be handled. I understand they are a naturally aloof breed as generally they are considered a 'non-pack' breed and wild at that.
Which is sad because IF they were a pack breed, then it would be more likely for this breed to survive in the wild...you know...with Humans around.
Beautiful animals, remind me so much of my dingo. They are reacting to your camera in a similar way my dingo would. Good to know the US permits ownership of these animals.
I think I have one too.... she's so much like a dingo we call her a dingo. But, I got online today to check out more about it and I'm 85% sure this is what she is. She drives me nuts she so aloof and so attached to my boyfriend, VERY cat like. Her perch is on the back of the couch!
Very informative comments. I have 4 Australian dingoes as pets. Loved the vid and the comments. Reminds me of our place. Dingoes are endangered in Australia. NG Singing dogs need all the support we can give them.
People like NGSingingDogMOM are part of an effort to preserve this breed. You've got no right to judge her so harshly without understanding what she's doing to save the breed.
To learn more about these extraordinary animals, join the New Guinea Singing Dog yahoo group. There you will find several owners and also those who are trying to preserve the species.
Currently, I know of two owners who are looking for permanent homes for a few Singers.
Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions!
Awesome dogs! Are they difficult to domesticate? Are there breeders in the United States? Do we need special licences to own them? 'Too many questions, I know. But, I'm curious. :)
Thank you for the compliment :) No worries on the questions. If I have the answer, I'm more than happy to share.
Currently, because the dogs are not recognized by AKC (American Kennel Club) no license is required to own them. I spoke with our local Humane Society and the director told me that since they WERE recognized by the UKC (United Kennel Club) as a canine species, that was good enough for them.
In my opinion, they ARE hard to domesticate. Virtually impossible actually. They CAN be "socialized" to family and some friends but for the most part, are very shy, timid and aloof.
My girls won't allow anyone to touch them and are very vocal when someone comes into the house or yard. At times, they're even aloof with me or my kids.
Why do they both have bark collars on? That's cruel.

these dogs belong in the wild, not in peoples homes. they did not evolve like other dogs as they were isolated for thousands of years so let them be.

They look like Finnish Spitz mixes more than NGSDs.

@AmberGotLost Yeah, you could probably pass them off for it if anyone began questioning it.

Are you allowed to keep them as pets in England?
wwedude4eva 1 year ago
What are the collars around their necks? Invisible fence?

This comment has received too many negative votes show
You should be ashamed of yourself.
Those animals are WILD.
They are not meant to be PETS.
They belong in a captive breeding program at a zoo or a wildlife santuary.
There are only about 200 of them left in the WORLD.
Every single one of them is urgently needed for breeding.
And you're not ALLOWED to own a member of an endangered species!
I hope you get arrested.
