Somewhere, way in the recesses of my memory, there is a rocker kid who didn't know shit about what to make of himself, about what to verify, about how to apply and dress well. Who stage dived onto beds, and assumed the wide stance when buying new jeans. That bastard thought this pervy anthem destroyed in '98, the most romantic sentiment too. 14 years later, shit STILL shreds. Real melody punk.
goddamn, drunk and sentimental. Takes me back to ATL buying albums at shows before you ever heard the band (does that happen anymore), and I think the death of the scene has a direct correlation with the rise of the internet.
If you're using this song as a base for how good Jordan Burns is as a drummer you're just looking in the wrong place. Elements of Sonic Defiance is where it's at. Check out Razorblade or Scarecrow for really impressive drumming.
can't wait to see them with bad religion and suicidal tendencies in austria at the 30th anniversary tour from bad religion, it's gonna get so fuckin dirty!
god im old..... i was still in early highschool when i had this on MY WALKMAN!!!! hahahaha and i carried CASSETTES around, which i rewinded with a PENCIL, so the batteries lasted longer...and i taped my own cassettes cuz ...DISCMANS skipped a lot.... hahahahah i was so punk back then.....k back to work, gotta pat my credit cards somehow... :(
ok so the drummer is fast but people need to stop calling his beats technical. I love this bad but this is just standard punk drumming nothing special here.
the guitarist is far more impressive than the drummer here, especially for a punk band. or at least they used to be punk. too close to see was on expert in guitar hero.
@oregonflatland Palm muting and syncopated power chords can be hacked out by stoned 14 year olds. Jordan Burns is an all-time punk rock drumming superstar, with little to no equal in speed or timing. (Oh, and I would like to add that this song was "IMPOSSIBLE" on Drum Hero Xtreme)
@Notespompon nah its pretty standard drumming, its fast sure but not technical in the least. Try Bill Stevenson of the Descendents.. thats some fairly technical punk drumming especially on Blast Off & 'merican.
@Notespompon This drummer is insane though i agree with you. Some of the rolls he pulls out are out of this world! Not to mention he is close to perfect live.
New Strung Out songs are great, but I have to agree that Valium is the last really good NOFX album, though Wolves In Wolves Clothing has some good moments.
War On Errorism is pretty bad, especially that track where Mike tells an economically/politically-fueled story of a woman with dementia that broke into a house and killed the family living there so she could live there herself.
Coaster is enjoyable, but not really substantial enough to be anything more than 'good.'
one of the first songs i learned on guitar, many years later i have forgotten it, but my fingers kinda feel the groove like they still remember ;), wish my amp worked id wake up this whole complex...
Stop bagging NOFX, they're still good! Strung Out on the other hand, fuck me dead.... awful now. Still, if that's the direction they want to choose then that's their choice. I'll still always enjoy their old stuff.
@poona83 to me, their still pretty good, but not as catchy as their 90's stuff. but nofx hasn't released a good album since 2000's pump up the valuum. cokie the clown was ok, and a song here and there on their new fat wreck stuff ain't band
I see a lot of people over at Songmeanings getting this song into the wrong context (i.e. about killing a girl). Virgina Madison is an actress, this is kind of like the Jackie O song. Virgina Madison was in Candyman (horror movie circa 1992) which is about dreams and talking to something in the mirror, kind of a mix between Nightmare on Elmstreet and "bloody mary".
@ryanwreck I always had a different interpretation of it. A lot of the things he says about visiting his dead lover's grave reminds me of the book I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. Only difference is, I think in the book he buries his wife and daughter, and the daughter was who was named Virginia. Anyway, in the bridge of the song, he mentions having an empty bottle under him, and regrets watching so much TV. Because of these facts, I always liked to imagine Jason was watching The Omega Man.
@rlbigfish I have yet another interpretation of it. I always thought of it more along the lines of thinking of an ex girlfriend. The beginning is just a dream (he even says so) where he goes into his mind and digs up old memories of her. In his dream he remembers how she told him "she don't wanna live no more." When he wakes up, though, and finds himself wallowing on a couch with the TV on, and instead he remembers that she said that she "won't always wait" for him.
I agree whats up with all the emo glam shit I hate what people think is punk these days 90' s punk will always be the best even Nofx sucks ass now I love their old shit but now they blow.
One of the last great songs from a once great band. when i was 17 i went to tower records to get the new strung out CD only to find out that they have become emo faggots like AFI.
the shitty CD im referring to, that actually ruined the bands reputation with credible bands like NOFX and lagwagon came out six years ago. last year i saw guttermouth in Chico and they openly made fun of their pussy sound and make up wearing faggotry. by name. bottom line: Youre all gay.
@infiltrat3 i agree theyre amazing.. and not to hate or nothing we all have our own opinions buuy in mine, bad religion is the greatest.. they have been around since punk started and even to this day they still rock!

Strung Out was a better band back in the day. Their new stuff isn't AWFUL, but it isn't nearly as good as this.
And I agree about NOFX. They haven't put out anything worth buying since Valium.
