I agree about the fact that the Witcher is better than Oblivion, Oblivion is like an arcade/FPS version of a real rpg. But you can't say that the Witcher is better than DA, DA is in many ways much better than the Witchter, in DA every pg and every location has its own charcter, and the story is undoubtely much better and detailed than the witcher, the witcher is too arcade for my personal taste.

this trailer doesnt really do this game justice. if i would have watched this trailer instead of a gameplay vid (which i always do anyway), i might have never gotten this game on steam. and what a mistake that would have been. BEST GAME I EVER PLAYED. PERIOD. if you have a good gaming pc, you are not a pc gamer until youve played the wticher. but you might just want to wait until witcher 2: assassins of kings comes out i think in febuary 2011 i think. you can preoorder it on steam right now.

I like Dragon Age. You don't need to flex your e-muscles and defend it. I like The Witcher more, and that "dark fantasy" stuff -- in the game and marketing -- felt like a me too deal.

Well, yes and no. Dragon Age tries for a "dark, gritty" world, and they don't commit to it. The Witcher commits, and therefore, in my opinion, succeeds where Dragon Age tries and fails.

I dunno. It's not necessarily a criticism, but it felt to me as though DA was a sort-of generic version of The Witcher. It lacked a "soul", if you get what I mean.

Clearly, DAO tries to be a spiritual succesor of Baldur's Gate, it tries for some grittines, dark fantasy etc., but it's not a base of the game like in the Witcher. If you are looking for another Witcher then I guess you are wrong. ;)

This old beta version of the Witcher has something that the original version lacks, I don't know what, but I think there should be less monsters and more of them should be made as bosses, just like in the Witcher books.

Can you actually see what level you are? I truly don't notice the level progression so much. You have different titles like "Fledgeling witcher," then "experienced witcher" and "Seasoned witcher." with about 10 steps in each of them. Pretty unique levelling-up system. Not any better or worse than say the D&D system. Just different. Fantastic game though.

I watched it. Movie was cool i can't lie and im not saying witcher is shit. I haven't played it but from movies I have seen and from my experience in oblivion, I think it is better. And the most awesome thing is the engine because it allows you to do anything you want, every mod you could think of.

You can download something lika "D'jinni", it's Mods Editor :) You can also do do everything you want int The Witcher, and every mod you could think of by D'jinni. I also played Oblivion. I liked it. But the most stupid things in that game was idiotic IA, and week animations... Few months later I played The Witcher, and now I know that The Witcher is far more better. For example: Uou can sit beside camp-fire, during that you can level up your skills, make some alchemical mixtures etc.

Well thats nice, you can do the same in Oblivion with some mods. However you are right 3-rd person animations are bad i never liked them. The fighting could have been better too. It all can be improved way better by mods, but it's a shame they didn't do it in the original game. I might buy Witcher to give it a try if it's so good :)

I had the same problem,when your in the merchant quarter tweek the details in the advanced game menu,for example i took out grass detail lowered the texture,and got rid of most shadows and the game runs great mostly
