  • I think beast never actually wanted a prisoner. He just wanted to host someone so that he wouldn't feel alone. He never actually meant Belle or Maurice any harm, he was just lonely.

  • tears :c

  • Belle left the Beast in tears!

  • I think this is the biggest proof against those who say that Gaston was the real hero of the movie: That was the very last day the Beast could break his curse and instead he let Belle go save his father because he loved her. Gaston on the other hand wanted to force her into marriage by locking his father into a nuthouse.

  • The most touching part was he had to let her go and ended up howling as she left to find her father.

  • I meant "unconditional.":)

  • He didn't want Belle to feel obligated to love him. He wanted it to be pure, conditional love. The same he has for her.

  • Why didn't the beast told her about his curse?

    it's a thing I wondered

  • The version of this scene in the musical makes this even more heartbreaking, especially in the high school productions. The last lines of the reprise of If I Can't Love Her (in the high school version of the musical): "So I finally know that I will always be in this hopeless state and condemned to wait, wait for death to set me free."

  • The most romantic scene I've ever seen in a movie. With complete power over her he releases her to make her happy, even though it may cost him being a beast for life. True love.

  • The Beast is a far more three dimensional and tragic character in the Disney film then the fairy tale, when we first see him, he's pretty much lost what little humanity he had left from years of lonelness, guilt and isolation, yet as he and Belle get to know each other, the Beast begins to regain his humanity and finds a few moments of happiness, and Belle begins to see a man where anyone else would only see a monster

  • Disney's greatest love story. No contest.

  • This is powerful stuff.

  • Hands down, this is and ALWAYS will be my favorite Disney film.

    Reasons:

    1. Heart wrenching true love story

    2. Sexy Beast ;)

  • God, that "yes"...you can hear-hell, FEEL his pain and anguish from that one little word.

  • The most beautiful and the most romantic animated scenes in the history of drawings are the ballroom and this one! BEAUTY AND THE BEST FOREVER!

  • Disney's greatest love story. Thumbs up if you agree!

  • Why didn't she just go find her father and bring him back to the castle? It was probably closer than the village anyway.

  • @MorriganAtwood I think it was because the Beast wasn't sure that Belle loved him. That and I think he felt guilty for keeping her a prisoner in the castle.

  • This scene contradicts an earlier scene...about Belle being forbidden to see what is known as "The West Wing". When the Beast shows her the magic mirror so she could see her father, isn't that within "The West Wing"? She shouldn't be in there. If you recall, he yelled at her to get out the first time she trespassed in there. Just saying.

  • @Dac719 That was before he fell in love with her. He did not want her to see the horrid outcome of how he was and what the rose means. Now, he would do anything for her.

  • @Dac719 Yes it might be contradictory to some but, it shows where he lost his temper at first. That is because she disobeyed him and snuck in there. He LET her in the West Wing to show her a glimpse of her father. Because she earned his trust.

  • at 50 the beast looks like hulk hogan. i noticed

  • Does anyone else like Prince Adam better as beast cause I certainly do.

  • prince adam and belle are most beautiful of disney

  • DUBSTEP!

  • I wish all the twit-light fangirls would watch this movie because this is what love is supposed to be. If Smeyer directed Beauty and the Beast, she'd have Belle falling for Gaston instead.

  • @ronin6401 I never even seen Twilight and I agree.

  • Ever since I was little, I always adored the few seconds of 1:22 to 1:28. His expression coupled with the majestic, sweeping music as the Beast comes to his heart-breaking decision just gets me every single time. His face just says so much. It's hard to believe that someone /drew/ that emotion. This is why Disney will always be the best when it comes to animation.

And let's not forget Robby Benson's brilliant voice acting to add to the Beast.

  • @LadyDecember I couldn't have said it better :D

  • @danny1819971

Yeah, she didn't care, which still makes her a bitch...

  • I really dont think the beast is scary. He looks like a lion.

  • The enchantress who cast the spell was really a bitch. I understand turning the prince into a beast, but cursing all of his servants? That was really unfair.

  • @SpottedToadstools If you think about it. What would have happened if only the prince was transformed? He would've been angry, and who would he have taken out his anger on?

  • @Gernam12

Well, the servants could've left the castle and left the Beast to deal with his own stupid problems...

  • @SpottedToadstools He's a giant animal. He could have outrun any human.

  • @Gernam12

...but he can't leave the castle; that's part of the curse.

  • @SpottedToadstools Actually he can. He does it in the wolf scene and it is heavily implied that he hunts for his food (if you look into his room in the earlier part of the movie you can see dead carcasses). He just doesn't go to public areas.

  • @Gernam12

But I thought the enchanterss said that his only view on the outside world would be the mirror. Oh well, whatever.

  • I think you can't put the whole movie on Youtube because Disney will remove it and maybe even delete the poster's account. So don't go putting Part 1, Part 2 etc up because that's what they look for. I think it's okay to post up individual selected scenes though.

  • Ok I'm seriously crying now!!

  • pretty movie

  • So...does Philippe ever NOT look totally panicked?

  • @taiyo888 are u kidding?? Tht was the most beautiful line in all of the disney movies!

  • Forte was right in the prequel. Beast did fall in love, and after he had let her go, he was in so much pain that he almost allowed Gaston to kill him. Nevertheless this was a great scene! I remember watching this scene over and over again as a kid.

  • Love Beast's expression at 1:25, when he simultaneously realizes three things:

    1. I love this girl.

    2. I have to let her go.

    3. I am so screwed (curse-wise).

  • This is one of the best parts in the film this is when the Beast truely no longer has hate inside of his heart. Girls can learn from this a true prince charming is not someone who looks like a hot model a true prince charming is someone who has beauty inside his heart someone who will love you for who you are someone who will always love you. Nothing beats true love.

  • @futureanimatior holy fuck berries!!!!!! someone who actually understands it. :) for that I would give a gold star but a thumbs up will do nicely. XD

  • I just want to give the beast a big ol hug and tell him everything is going to be ok. the moan of agony he roars when he's watching her leave on the horse is heart wrenching. He loves her enough that he puts her happiness and well being before himself now that is real love.

    "But Why"

    "Because... I love her"

such a simple line but very powerful.

  • That last part was absoloutely heart breaking...I love Beast.

  • Comment removed

  • This scene is so sad. :( And so beautiful.

  • A very touching and truly memorable clip from one of my all-time favorite movies! There would come a time when we have to stop loving someone not because that person started hating us, but because we found out that they would be happier if we let them go. You will know when you really love that someone when you want her to be happy even if her happiness means you are not a part of it. Sometimes letting go is just a painful way of saying "I love you" to that beloved someone...

  • "...Because I love her"

    So simple...yet, so powerful

  • What I find to be very sad is the fact that Belle states, "He may be dying and he's all alone" and in a way, that is exactly what the Beast is going through, although she's unaware of it. The fact that he himself is in a similar situation (i.e., running out of time) but chooses to let her go speaks volumes of how much he's changed and cares only for Belle's happiness. Wonderful! <3

  • Belle is possibly affected by Stockholm syndrome, but the Beast is CERTAINLY suffering from the opposite affliction: Lima Syndrome, whereby a captor begins to care for his hostage.

  • Beast: I release you. You are no longer my prisoner.

Belle: I'm your prisoner?...OH, yeah. I totally forgot, I mean you gave me the biggest damn library in existence, had a friendly snowball fight, danced with me in the most fantastic ballroom ever, let me wear this AMAZING dress, including all this other nice things you did in those mid-quels, lets not mention THAT again, but...well, yeah back to the point...*ahem* y-you...I'm free?!

naw, all jokes aside...this is my FAV Disney movie. :3

  • How is it that Disney can manage to make a beast appear "attractive"? Speaks to the truth of inner beauty. When a person is ugly on the inside, he is ugly on the outside...no matter what. If the inside is pure, loving and good, it will always radiate in the outer appearance...no matter what. BTW, I absolutely love Beast's roar at the end when Belle leaves. Awww...he was sad.

  • @happeedaiye FINALLY someone that understands that outer appearances can be a reflection of the inside. It's not an easy thing to do, but when someone gives you an impression at first glance it is probably very accurate. I hope it's the case for me because I am not close to being the most beautiful person in this world :)

  • @celkobe125 On the other hand, judging inner by outer is stupid.

  • does anyone know what animal makes that roar at the end of the clip?

  • @PekingeseLover to me it just sounds like they took a sound clip of a thunder clap and edited it, adding a long moan onto the end. If you listen carefully. But that's just me :P

  • I luv how he raised his paw like he wanted to stop her in spite of himself as she walked away... heheh Disney romance ;p

  • It would have made a lot of sense for him to help her find her father and bring him back to the castle where he would be nursed back to health by tons of servants, and he'd have more room to work on his invention... Too bad, haha.

I do understand though that he had to release her so that her Stockholm Syndrome didn't get too in depth. I always forget that she's his prisoner because of their friendship.

  • @jezzyloo If her dad woke up in the castle, he might die of a heart attack...or do something drastic...before they could explain.

  • the 90's pwned. hands down

  • They don't make cartoon romances like this anymore. All the crap we get these days is so trite.

  • 1 person has no heart. >_>

  • This is my favorite scene of my favorite movie, hehe. :) Beast is the best.... *sighs* :)

  • I love how the beast is so sweet and so confused at how to behave. it's so cute! i wish he stayed a beast!

  • so sad

  • What became of her mother?

  • @Ennyn: I love you

  • This movie is just perfect. So moving and poignant and romantic.

  • So she is free to leave him forever or was she even planning to come back?

  • She is free to leave forever, he thought she would never come back, but her plan was to go help her father and then return...he just didn't know that (in the scene where he 'dies', he says "You came back..." and she answers "of course I came back!"

  • Belle should have told the beast she was coming back.

  • Dang! Didn't you here glass break wen he roared

  • You sure it was glass? I think it was Philip neighing.

  • @ idk, it sounded like it tho.

  • Man that bit at the end though when she rides away... kills me!

  • Seriously, every time I watch this, it makes me cry... One of Disney's best and the most beautiful movie... Walt Disney can be happy and proud.

  • I think this is the only Disney movie that says has the word love in it

  • wow ALL the disney movies say the word love in it smartness

  • not in Lion king

  • "If you really love something, set it free. If it comes back it's yours, if not it wasn't meant to be."

  • It means that true love requires no coercion; if some1 really loves you you won't need to force them to stay with you.

  • "But - WHY?"

    "Because I love her."

God, that was the most beautiful line in the film.

  • @taiyo888 That is the most beautiful line in alot of films :) there's such a message in this movie...I love it :)

  • @taiyo888 Totally agree with you. I always thought that...

  • @taiyo888 Agreed. It's my favorite quote from this movie, haha. :)

  • @taiyo888 I don't even get why that line isn't considered in the best quotes or sayings in AFI. :/

  • I'm not crying.... *sniff* T-T

  • and has anyone noticed that all the servants care about is breaking the spell? they dont really care about the morality of belle being a prisoner and being held captive! theyre like WTF YOU LET THE GIRL FREE?!

  • he shouldve just brought the father to the castle O:

  • 1:22 - 1:29 really hits the nerve. the music and how beast feels. time is running out, hes in love with her, but he doesnt want to force her to fall in love with him, so he lets belle do whatever she wants to make her happy. this is epic. god-like!

  • i love this movie

im already crying with just this scene

  • Truly, truly the best film ever.

    This scene is so wonderful.

It marks the final death of all that was selfish and unkind in the beast. His transformation in heart leading to his transformation in self and finally the ultimate redemption of his soul.

  • one of my fave scenes ever!

  • by letting her have her freedom, he unconsciously bound her to him...that is the irony of it all, I think she only really started to love him when he let her go...

  • Comment removed

  • he did WHAT?! lol sorry thats funny

that scene is really sad though....good bt sad

  • I love how at 1:16 all the beast needs to see is belles pain to make him put her before himself :)

  • The skill in animation at 1:25 is amazing they capture so much emotion in his face. I also love how he never actually sees what Belle sees, he just trusts that she's telling the truth

  • It's even little things in those few seconds as well, like him clenching his fist as he says that Belle must leave.

    *sigh* Best film ever :)

  • I love when Belle says she is happy with Beast but I feel really sad when she have to go-___-

    This scene is really good^^

  • 2:23 poor cogsworth

  • It's sad and i actually cry :'(

  • I cry too

  • naww.. this part in the movie isso sad :(

  • 1:23 - 1:27 is flawless. my god i can feel how hard it was for beast to let her go. beast ure the man!

  • gotta love the french horn in the backround too.

  • -I let her go

    -Why?

    -Because..I love her.

One of the best lines of the whole movie!

And of course "So you'll always have a way to look back and remember me.." Great movie!

  • god-like

  • "Because... i love her" is that beautiful or what!!!!!! God I love this movie!

  • God damn...major props to Robby Benson, Beast's voice actor, he does a phenomenally fantastic job particularly with heat-wrenching scenes like this one. You can practically feel the emotion in his voice.

  • yes but how do you know it was for that reason?

  • i love it at 1:52 when he runs his fingers through her hair, it's so beautiful!!!

  • Im pretty sure he roars at the end because he loves her and now he has to let her go.

  • yeah, but not only for that, he wanted to make sure she waS safe, and that the wolves don't attack her Again

  • Can anyone help me? I havn't seen Beauty and the Beast before (yes i was deprived of a childhood lol) and i wanted to know does it have domestic violence in it? Its for an assignment..! thank you

  • omg, this part always makes me cry, i sit watching the movie on the brink of tears but this scene just puts me over the edge!! i love it!!

  • Listen from 2:58 to 3:02.

That mournful cry of his is just...so sad. :(

  • i love this scence so much! its my fav b/c it shows how much he really loves her. and they have a funny quote right after the most beautiful one! ^_^

    "because... i love her"

    "HE DID WHAT!?"

lol (it lightens the mood after such a sad part)

  • please..never erase this scene..it's very special

  • Thank you for posting this movie on youtube! I'm going to buy it now on DVD! Thanks!

  • Did you find the DVD? If so, can you tell me where you found it?

    Thankyou.

  • No. I am disappointed because Disney put it back in the vault and it won't be released again until at least 2009 or 2010. I am mad because I have the VHS version but I wanted the DVD version. I refuse to buy it off of eBay. So I will have to wait until Disney releases it again or something miraculous happens and I find a new copy on the shelf of some entertainment store. Sorry about the disappointing news... :U... :D

  • Thats OK, I guess I will wait for it as well. Although, I have to say, I REALLY hate the vault. I suppose I can wait a little while longer, I just LOVE this movie so much, I thought it was one of Disney's BEST work. Such a beautiful movie that I cry every time I watch scenes. But thankyou for your help ^^

  • No problem for the help. Yeah, I have to agree with you, I hate the Diseny vault as well. Out of all the Disney movies ever created, Beauty and The Beast is my all-time favorite! It never gets old, does it? Well, I suppose that I, too, can wait just a LITTLE longer... I don't know how much longer I can wait. But I will do my best to remain patient! We're in this together!

  • yeh I know how you feel. I have this movie on VHS too. But I want it on DvD

  • I found it on Amazon from one of their partner retailers. It cost me over 40 bucks, but it's the best Disney movie ever made, and is worth it.

  • I see you have many clips. Do you have a completed part posted on the net? Becuz' I didn't found it anywhere.

  • Do you mean the entire movie??

  • Yes.

  • No, I haven't got the complete part on the net...sorry...

  • why is the beast roaring when belle and felipe the horse run out of the castle?

  • Perhaps to scare the wolves away? Or to make Phillip run faster? Or maybe grief??... who knows ;o)

  • @Ennyn Oh Gosh it's a roar of sorrow don't you see?

  • @richardrgp I think it is because he is sad that she is leaving him, because he loves her and wants her to stay :)

  • @richardrgp It's supposed to be grief. lol Anguish at the feeling of loss.

  • @richardrgp he loves her and doesnt want to lose her, so instead of keeping the pain in he let it all out into a scary voice. i think we all let out a grief just not on that level of amplitude.

  • @richardrgp

I believe it was an emotional outbreak.

  • @richardrgp I always thought it was grief.

  • I love between 1.23-1.28. I bet the beast is thinking "Uno wat! Screw the magic! Screw the spell! And screw this appearance! Shes all that matters to me now!"

  • yes. absolutely.

  • actually i almost cry everytime i watch that scene. 1.23-1.28. i know how beast feels n how hard it is for him to let her go.

  • Would someone please download the whole movie?

  • I know, right! I wish I could just watch it all the way through!

  • "Because... i love her" is that beautiful or what!!!!!! God I love this movie!

  • Right, that's most beautiful! =)

  • This clip realy shows the love in the movie!!!

  • "Thank you for understanding how much he needs me."

Oh, the irony is so painful. I'm literally tearing here.

  • I agree. Its a shame that she didnt understand how much the beast needed her to.

  • ineadt of Belle bringing her Father back to her house she could have brought him back to the Beast Castle then Gaston and the Villagers wouldn't have found out about the Beast and try to kill him

  • ah yes but then they wouldnt have realised so dramatically that they loved each other

hehehe. and this way, gaston dies. its all cool with me. lol

  • your right and if Belle did bring her father back to the Beast Castle then we all would wondering what about Gaston what happen to him

  • thank you!..I was looking for this scene..I even bought the DVD to upload it but I'm very happy that someone did it just as I was hoping!

  • The Beast did the right thing for Belle.

  • i agree the Beast is way more Smarter then Gaston

  • f-ing duh!!! Gaston is a prickish narsicist

  • speak english please
