Aw... Bill looks so pleased with himself for being able to say his little phrase in French, just like some of the French 1 students I used to help teach in High School. Still, his accent is better than most of my 200-level college classmates'. Does French and German have many similarities? I always thought they had completely different parent languages... French as a 'Romantic' (Latin-based) language and German from the Germanic tribal languages. And which does English borrow the most from?

@VladKirshkov There are almost no similarities in between French and German other than the fact that they belong to the Indo-European language family. Romance languages and Germanic languages are branches of the larger Indo-European family. You are right in asserting that French is a Romance language and that German is Germanic. English is essentially Germanic in origin but it borrows copiously from the Old Norse languages as well as Latin.

And accent is all a matter of repetition and exercise, so I think that is the main reason Bill speaks that fraze so well; he's told it MANY times ;)
