@SuperDCH I think the song talks about accepting oneself, knowing own limitations and desires, and still trying 'to live right'. Not focusing on sins and culprits but knowledge and acceptance to try to overcome them. It also addresses the listener to check his/her way of living.

This song speaks to me as a person. the mistakes i have made in my life and road i want to take in the future. i sit here confused and i very depressed but this song just talks to me. i have loved tracy chapman for all her songs. of all of them this is my favourite. i have been through years of abuse and put myself in self destruct mode many times in my life. my only prayer is that i live long enough to find love and Enjoy it. life is beautiful and i wish i could say it and mean it.

Amazing is even an understatement.

I always have this sneaky feeling that Marley wrote this song together with Bebo Norman's Walk Down The Mountain because he'd see all too clear where he's been and where he's going to. Of course he wrote neither but you can almost hear him somewhere in between the plucking sounds of those strings.Cant you?
