  • RIP Marunde. I'm from his hometown, and he inspired most if not all of our High school football team to acheive greatness. Certainly a star from good ol' Sequim, WA

  • why do u stop between reps for so long? does that help u recover? for next rep? for me it would feel like it would only tire me out more

  • He's gonna sleep well tonight.

  • what song is playing when he squat

  • @Ewinioo Great american nightmare by rob zombie

  • RIP JESSE

  • fuckin animal

  • RIP

  • very good the execution !!!!!!!

  • whats the first song?

  • holy fuck that was intense i've always wanted to try these

  • RIP, dude was a beast that went WAY before his time. I wish he and poundstone were duking it out right now

  • R.I.P. Jesse... I was saddened when I heard the news. Who knows what he would have accomplished with Strongman.

  • i squat the moon for a trillion reps

  • R.I.P

  • Very nice. I like to watch this before I go to the gym and squat. Thanx for the video.

  • that was otherwordly

  • what a lad! R.I.P Jesse x

  • nice!

  • Nicely done! He's actually going the way down with 407lbs, that's nowhere near half-assed. He kept doing them fully all the way, even at 20, that's RESPECT MAN! He has earned the title of being a "beast".

  • He was born with a heart condition and was told to stop with the heavy lifting many times.

He lived a happy and strong short life. Instead of a sad, weak and long one.

  • @ToquiGambit Nicely put! Sad to lose these guys so young

  • @ToquiGambit unreal

  • how bout i recently taught an exercise motor skill for my college class and my professor being the smart bitch she thinks she is tells me that an ATG squat is terrible for the knees and should not be done. i told her lady how can u say that it is bad when it is a natural movement for the human body. she recommended parallel squats and i asked her wouldn't stopping at parallel transfer the momentum to the knees and not the hips she said i dont know what im talking about.

  • @34dgusto can your professor even squat 2 plates? never take advice from people like her. simple rule of advice that i stick by. only listen to people who are stronger then you. obviously there are a few exceptions to that rule but its a good general guideline

  • at least he died doing what he loved...R.I.P.

  • I could tell that lactic acid started building up around 12 reps but he fought 20. He was a great strongman.

  • RIP brotha, i'm glad i got to train and wrestle with you in high school .

  • @lordfriday2 How good was he as a wrestler?

  • fuck those squats are so deep

  • how did he die?

  • @JuSeo91 Heart attack, probably steroid related.

  • @Cooter1Brown that was a existing condition he had you cant blame it solely on steroids

  • dammm!

  • RIP jesse - a hell of an athlete

  • Geez, do you have to do EVERYTHING with shitty form?

  • que que adianta 15 segundos de intervalo cada repetiçao --'

  • @BeckerPow so do it your fucking son of a bitch. This guys was one of the best strongman the world have ever seen

  • Damn Brotha thats heart, i would've stayed on the floor for an hour...

  • Rest in Peace.. a great athlete!!

  • Lately for my leg workouts I start with a tough set of 20 reps. Should I continue to do a couple more sets of mabye just 8-10 reps before I go onto my next leg exercise or would that be over training?

  • @mylesman99 Only your body can tell you when you're overtraining. Try it out. Look up symptoms on Wikipedia. If you experience some of them after running that routine for a while, then I would stop and change.

  • @mylesman99 There is no such thing as over-training. You're not recovering properly, simple as that. That and it takes time for your body to adapt to imposed demands.

  • PAAAAAAAAIN!

  • I feel like vomiting just watching this.

  • Jesse know how to fun )

  • POWERRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

  • what a fucken man

  • Watching this is truly inspiring.... the definition of 'to failure' should be based on this video, ie when you literally pass out. IF YOU CANT SQUAT YOU AINT SQUAT!!!!

  • Anyone know what song this is? Makes me wanna squat.

  • roids?

  • Bullshit!! I am a fan of jesse's but no way was his condition medical. Combination of anabolic steroids, continous strenuous training, and maybe growth hormone, is what caused his death. Jesse had heart failure whilst training.

  • @Andrewa101080 Like I said... he had a heart attack... Yeah he may have died becuase of drugs... but hes passed man , he was a great guy and a awsome athlete. lets remember him for that... RIP Jesse

  • @Andrewa101080 he had heart problems since he was born.

  • There should not be 1 negative comment on this video.... Doin cleans, then 407 for 20 reps, Give me a break people! Jesse was one of the finest Strength Althletes ever. RIP Jesse. Big and Strong!

  • What happened to him?

  • @Salamandria23 He had a heart attack during training.. He did have a condition for it I cant remember the name

  • What is the first song that is playing, I know its zombie. Gets me jacked up.

  • RIP

  • dunno if anyone already have said that, but his power cleans looked pretty good too

  • @LesFayes I too thought his power cleans were really good, so I googled him up and found out he was a weightlifter, guess that explains it.

  • we still have the met-rx t-shirt's that he signed for the boys.

  • wow jesse took my 2 boys on stage at the arnold classic in 07 and let them do push-ups in a contest. then carried them around on his shoulders telling everyone they were going to be champions. this was one great man and inspired my kids and myself to be great. thanks big guy RIP. we will forever remember that day!

  • someone is on B-B-B-B-BEAST MODE!

  • R.I.P

  • BEAST!

  • Great guy, sleep well man !!!!!!!!

  • I am nowhere near Jesse's training ability...of course I am neither as big as that man but I try, hard...much respect Jesse, R.I.P.

  • Respect! 20 rep squats are hard as hell. I did 20 with half of this weight and I threw up outside.

  • It takes a person who's done true 20 rep squats to appreciate this. Bravo!

  • If you can persevere through an honest set of 20 rep squats like this, you have successfully prepared your mind and body to challenge any obstacle. This is the ultimate conditioning for me.

  • @celconicuzn Totally agree

  • wow thats cold...

  • i was about to say that tom platz made 23 with 500 lbs, but Marunde did go I lot deeper than him.He was a beast ;/

  • out of synch

  • You are an idiot, that is a great time for a 20 rep set with 407.

  • no its not watch derik farnsworth blast em out in about 25 secs..... or me (in a few weeks)

  • I looked, Jesse is going deeper than Derik or you which makes it a lot harder. Decent squatting but not better than Jesse's. If you want to be impressed, look at Tom Platz squatting.

  • @arniemonkey Lol you do not go nearly as deep, you do not lockout and neither does that bodybuilder of yours. And neither of you do it after heavy power cleans and clap pullups at a bodyweight of 300.

God I hate squat videos for this reason, you'll always find some dumbass who fakes it. You wanna prove your strong, do a deadlift/powerclean video - you cant fake those.

  • not locking out makes em harder !!!!!!!!!! and i do go as deep .remember everyone he was one of the strongest men in the world he should piss that weight and do 40 reps but everyone thinks im being harsh??????i dont claim to be strong by the way

  • @arniemonkey Not locking out being more tired, well that matters how close to locking out you are. Going 15% degrees less in the knee is certainly not more tiring. Also no, you are not going deep enough, it makes a huge difference - hence you can do squat walkouts with huge weights. Going that bit deeper that your hips are bellow parallel makes the squat different, the part where you are in the bottom is the hardest, and you dont do it.

  • @arniemonkey But it doesnt really matter, youre better in the one exercise that can be faked so easily. Power clean 374 like he does. Power snatch what he can - 330. Or show me a big deadlift. OR DO REAL SQUATS WHERE YOU GO BELLOW PARALLEL AND LOCKOUT. I dont care if your squats are harder, theyre different.

If you seriously think you are stronger in the squats, you are no doubt going to be very strong and able to deadlift atleast say 600. Otherwise chances are, you arent doing real squats.

  • are you mad...i never said i was stronger than jesse !!! there s nothing wrong with my squats they are deep enough and i lock out when im knackered and doing singles about 13 reps into a 20 rep squat and how do you think they might be faked plastic weights or something???

  • @arniemonkey You dont lock out and do not go deep enough. Never said I think theyre plastic.

  • ok how are they faked then

  • @arniemonkey I never said they are faked. I only said you dont squat deep and you dont lockout, so you arent doing real squats. Thats all.

  • ok ill post me locking out and taking a 10 sec rest every rep !!! what an easy workout that ll be jeeez you can tell you dont train and have no vids

  • @arniemonkey No, post it how you do the same weight locking out, going deeper and not taking minimum time you can. Lets see if you'll be much faster.

  • @OMFGO meant to say and taking as little time as you can.

  • i dont need to prove anything to a guy with no video back up. your missing the point totally re read my comments and you ll see im right about jesse im just a gym rat he s top 20 in the WORLD he should be doing those 1 legged thats all i squat how i feel makes the best gains for size ......!! im no powerlifter just a decent squatter!!

  • @arniemonkey And you dont understand, he shouldnt be doing them 1 legged, what hes done in this video is very hard. The fact that hes lying on the ground in the end might explain it to you better my words. You dont understand how a real 20rep squat workout with heavy power cleans and clap pullups is hard - I dont either, but unlike you I understand that it must be much harder than what Ive done. What hes doing in this video is impressive.

  • he s lying down coz it is bloody hard but you have nt a clue coz you aint done a 20 rep heavy squat workout or 30 rep??you dont see how long a rest he has in between those average power cleans look at 20 rep squats for a decent weight theres loads of normal guys doing what he s done and loads more it just isnt that good !!! trust me ive been doing it a while you know

  • @arniemonkey Ok whatever, I wont argue with you anymore. Maybe youre right, maybe I am, doesnt matter.

  • 20 rep squats with challenging weights are a real test of a man

  • Pourquoi avoir foutu cette merde en playlist avec les robins des bois ?

  • holy shit irony in that shirt....he actually did squat till he died...just pointing out the ironicness of that no offence RIP

  • its said squat till u drop. not die.

  • RIP Jesse true legendary strongman. I bet heaven has a kick ass gym for you big fella. Love this video.

  • I'm equally impressed with his clap-pullups, damn

  • people think there beast, well compare urself to him, cuz he is the definition of a beast.

  • just put my vids up so go watch thanks also rest in peace jesse we miss you

  • I was at his last sequim pro show (now named after him) before he died.

he was awesome, not only did he win but he was very entertaining to the crowd.

  • Good tip. Maybe he'll try that out in his next video...you fucking chode.

    *facepalm*

  • I didnt know he died? so eat me bitch

  • Comment removed

  • he died there is no way that is possible!!!!!

  • Total determination! This is a must-watch video before leg day.

  • Hell yeah! :D

  • Great athlete! R.I.P.!

  • R.I.P.???

  • He passed away at 27yo. RIP.

  • une pensée pour toi jesse.rip.

  • very impressive!

  • R.I.P Jesse

  • really?????? =0 ! What happen?!

  • this guy is a beast.. seeing a big guy do chin up claps is impressive let alone squat 400+ for 20reps..

  • does anyone know what the first song is. not the 2nd one(the great american nightmare) but the first one when he doing power cleans?.. By the way this guys a friggen beast

  • wow respect.. I once did 20x150lbs. It was so tough by the end I nearly fainted, my heart rate was something crazy like 185, took me ages to recover. I never tried that again lol for good reasons ;D

  • His name sounds so familiar..

isn't he the powerlifer who collapsed and died during workout?

what a loss.. he looks really young

  • he died only 2 months after this was added to youtube :(

  • He was young. Only 27 years old...

  • haha yea they were i saw this and went to try it and they were alot harder than he makes it look, especially for his bodyweight

  • them clapping chin ups were fucking incredible

  • was he in WSM

  • yeah...but he died in '07. RIP

  • why?

  • the man was a beast

    rip

  • thats a fuckin power clean lol

  • woohooo Stern fans know the squat song

    "hellooo everybody, good morning"

  • How many wrestlers, BB's and powerlifters have do die at relativley young ages before we can make connection to steroid use-and by use, I mean abuse-GH, Insulin, Steriods in crazy amounts.

That is great to push all that weight and walk around at 300lbs-but it comes at a price.

Question-when was the last time you saw someone walking around at 250 plus and over 60 years of age.

Answer-never. They died or got off the drugs and shrank.

  • I understand what your saying man, but they really are alot of strong "NAT." guys out there my coach is almost 60 and I see him do 405 for 15, and he just hit a 1600 total, never a roid in his life.

  • there is no faking that type of being tired....i lift competitively in highschool and burnouts to 20 aint no fucking joke.....im not saying i can do 407x20 at the end of a workout but im saying burnouts suck.

  • Everybody that does 20 reps in the squat in the manner done in this video deserves respect. :D

  • He is faking it at 3:55. Lol.

  • Do a 20 rep set with the weight you would normally do 10 reps with and see how you feel after that last rep. Its killer. Trust me he wasnt faking.

  • This is an amazing effort. He looked like he was one rep away from failure at rep 12 but then cranked out 8 more!

  • This is what the breathing squats (widowmakers) are all about. you pick up weight you normaly do 10 time than you do it 20.

This is one of the few way to gain serious mass and talk to jesus at the same time (because believe me, at about 16th - 17th rep you WILL start to pray).

  • well put

  • good stuff.

  • Amen brotha, those Super Squats are killer. You and I know whats up. Let the posers do their b.s. workouts. Lift heavy, pray hard.

  • Utter nonsense. There is no God, and no jesus talking to you. It is only your will against the bar. I have personally done 180kg x 20 and is currently on my way to get 190kg x 20 reps. Check out my account. Also if you can do a 10rm weight for 20 reps, that is no 10rm weight. You all need to raise the bar, stop talking, and start squatting!

  • I'm pretty sure his reference to Jesus was just a way of saying it gets really really hard towards the end of the set and you have to dig deep to rep it out.

  • I know, I just like to be difficult sometimes. ;) I see my comment above was rated down, it just proves how weak people are. :) Go SQUAT! :D

  • WTF he died!!! that fuckin sucks i liked to watch him in strongman shit he will be missed

  • Yes he did use drugs. And I am sure they played a part in his heart attack, although it that will be denied by many...

  • sorry mate did he died from a heart attack? Was the roids cause of his death?THNX
