all ferrets are individuals! could just be his way... or it could be that your jill is a whiner lol i have one of those... responds to rough housing with a screech
However it is possible that your ferret is displaying sexual behavior as a result of the beginings of Adrenal disease, which generally sees them loose weight, lose hair and other problems...it also increases sexual behavior even in neutered ferrets. in which case its worth talking to the vet about..
Ok, only one of two of my males does this to the female and she cries. I feel terrible that she does so I put him in a carrier cage to separate them for 5 mins and put him back and he has calmed down.
He does this EVERY morning as soon as there is daylight in the room like clockwork! I know that all three of them are spade/neutered. Why does he do this? just on instinct? Why doesn't the other male do this?
Sorry to say with the tattoo's you are probably out of luck... that generally means not only are they mill ferrets who aren't genetically suitable nor able to have or make babies!! the tattoos are indicators that they've been neutered!! Castrated and spayed!!
i have two ferrets. and i want to get them pregnant but they got tattoos on their ears BUT i heard that i can take it to the vet and gave them a shot for them to feel "heat" but its going to be my first time and i want to know more information before doing it. so i have few questions if you dont mind. um when i got them a shot then on the same day i can put them together in a cage? how long i have to leave them together for? how well i kno if they are pregnant?
@babychicky215 are they 2 blue dots on the ear? if so the ferret isnt fertile and is neutered/spayed. the ferrets you see with 2 blue tattoos on there ears are from marshall farms. its like a puppy mill for ferrets. its terrible.
Wow... I realize it's a natural part of ferret life... but if he tried that with my Daisy, he'd get kicked and thrown out. I know that probably soudns awful..
I have a weird story - I have a neutered male nearly 1 year old who has a good-size stuffed toy that he will "hunch" for 30-45 minutes at a time. In fact, sometimes I have to pry him loose - he sucks on the toy's ears till they're soaked & is not happy when I take his toy. After watching this, I realize that my little darling Cowboy is mating with his stuffed toy! Is this behavior normal - I haven't told his vet about it because I just thought it was cute. Thanks!
@annbaskervill If you only have the one ferret that is not good. Ferrets are very social creatures and require company of their own kind even if they have loving owners they still need company.
@honorax123 there's a good chance she's pregnant.. all you can do is mark the calendar from the day you first put them together and count to 42.. that should be her due date.. anywhere from 2 days early to 2 days late is acceptable.. after that if she looks at all unwell she should see a vet
it can take time for an inexperienced hob to get it right..leave them together over a period of 2 days or so... check your jill's neck for damage a couple times a day. Mark your calander for 42 days from the first time you introduce them. Good luck
hey how are you doing.... i just had a couple of ferrets... now the male is in rut and the female is in heat i waited for 11 or 12 days once she went in heat....
to day i just put my female and my male toguether they are doing exactly as your video... but he cant lock his penis on her .... why is that....
hes trying and trying... the female lets him... can you help me with some info.
i separate them again and will be putting them to night again!
@AngelDust922 - they have a sort of boney hook... that locks them in place but it isn't absolutely neccessary to mate. and yes they are coupled for a long time.. just how ferrets are...
i am not interested in breeding ferrets because ive read that it can be difficult, but i was just wondering where you can get ferrets that haven't been fixed. obvioulsy there are private breeders, but where do they get their ferrets that haven't been spayed/neutered? all the ones from pet stores and rescues are fixed so it can't be from there.
If your planning on getting ferrets that aren't fixed and are not planning to breed them then don't. Female ferrets can die if they don't breed and males tend to be more pungent in odor. So it's better to get them fixed unless your either going to breed them or pay to have them fixed yourself.
@aspence891 also if you want a ferret that's not spayed/neutered then make sure you get a male. A female can bleed to death if she's not spayed and isn't around a male to mate with.
this is a myth.. ferrets aren't often killed mating and i've never heard of one dying from the process... you'll notice that she is only playing hard to get if you watch.. she runs away then stops and waits for him to catch up... just a part of the natural cycle of things
:D Thats amazing! ^_^ I have a ferrett to...hes male and we want to buy a female for him so they can have kits/kids/babys (you know what i mean) is it a bad idea??
I know ferrets are called hobs and jills when they're not nuetered, but when they are, I comepletly forgot the name, does anyone know it? Please reply.
the dingy thing.. is a very large 10 x 4 ft shed ... its natural lighting and they are kept as naturally as possible with lots of things to climb on and and into..
as to the "tree bedding" its dust extracted woodchip used for horses with respitory problems.. and they have NO problem with it at all... thanks for your concern

hey one question.... i never saw my male (that was bred with my female about 7 days before)... get stuck with his bny hook on my female....
will she get pregnant...
i left my female ferret in heat for about 10 or 11 days....
and then i put her with my male ... as soon as i put him with her he started mouting her just like your video....
i left them for about 7 days toguether..... they are not mating anymore ... will she get pregnant...
i left them toguether since may 29

We live in the UK and our ferrets are found mostly through breeders, those in rescue are generally neutered before releasing to their new owners...
