Hi! Of course! Always answering! LOL! I think I'm one of those rare people that actually reply to every single comment. :) It's just really a matter of curling them with the same amount of space in between each curl. I let them dry on a bed of cornstarch so there are no flat sides. I sell these in my Etsy store if you'd like to order them from me. :)
@laurapoopie Thankyou Laura! Your so good for replying to every comment(: im going to try get hold of you by email. Im from New Zealand btw so cant order from your etsy store:(
Hey Laura, Merry Christmas lady!!!! I had a question about the star and swirls that are inserted. How do you insert them without them sinking into the fondant or makin a huge whole? Could it be that batter is too soft? Any advice wwould help...thanks and have a hapy New year!!!
Merry Christmas to you too!!! The stars and swirls are really not that heavy so even with a soft batter they don't sink. My cakes however are pretty dense so they hold up a lot of weight. It also helps to cut the skewers the same height as the cake itself so that your skewers are touching the cake board at the bottom of the cake. Hope this helps! Happy New Year!!! :)
Hi. I usually always put 3 layers of cake in each tier, and actually in this cake they were kinda thin. I usually make them even thicker. :) Each tier is usually at least 6" tall. :)
Laura....u said the white checkers are white gumpaste.....these are just decorative right? U can't really eat gum paste can u?? Was wondering? Thanks!!
It looks great! You have proved small and "simple" doesn't have to mean boring. I would have never thought of the floral tape idea for using it as vines for connecting gumpaste flowers. It may be just what I need to finish off a look. Thanks!
You wouldn't be willing to share your espresso butter cake recipe would you?
Thank you! Actually the recipe is not mine, rather Warren Brown's from CakeLove. You can find the recipe in his book named CakeLove by Warren Brown. :)
Very nice, she will be very pleased with this. I have a few questions, how do you make the swirls? My birthday is in January and I want to make some swirls for my cake. Also how long this it take for an airbrush cake to dry? II just found out my hubby ordered one for me for xmas. Thanking you in advanced.
Thanks! The swirls are made out of gum paste. I have them for sale in my Etsy store if you'd like to check them out. An airbrushed cake dries differently depending on what type of paint you used and how many coats you applied. I would give it at least an hour or so. You're welcome! :)
heloo laura. i was just wondering what you did to get your curly things so perfect?? hope your stilll answering(: thanks

Hi! Do you always make three layers of cake per tier? or does this one have three because it is a single tier?
