I pay $50 a month and am supposed to get a minimum of 3 millibites to 7 millibites. Every year {last 4 yrs} it has slowed down more and more at certain "peak" times. This yr though it got bad. There would be times in the evening I wouldn't even be able to use my computer. I'd get 240 killobites at times. TimeWarner kept on telling me my line "pinged" okay and so forth........

I got a "level 3 technician" who wasn't a company man and this guy admitted "there are some problems in your area" and gave me the regular monthly rate {$15 less than the Roadrunner} and he told me I should call monthly and ask for the lower rate until TW fixes the issue.........Bottom line. This isn't rocket science. They have "nodes" for an area. If there are 300 people on a "node" you're internet is slow.....
@kentucy9999 and if they simply put those three hundred people on two separate "nodes" so there are 150 houses on a "node" instead of 300...........PRESTO! {and then two years later they may have to cut the users on the "node" in half again.} This isn't brain surgery. You've got a cable. If there is too much "traffic" going through the cable at one time it is going to get "clogged up." If you take care of your computer and don't do much on it like me and it is slow it is probably the node.

@Screamo1818 DEPENDS on many things. could be the server of the website your trying to download the file from, could be that webserver's site is crowded, could be you're missunderstanding what ISP internetspeed you have..you may be confused and not realize 100mbit is teh CONNECTIOn speed from your computer's ethernet hardware ( onboard the motherboard or physical card either way) to your modem and/or router or gateway hardware also remember either way ( 100mbit is not 100 MEGABYTES
@Screamo1818 furthermore ( and yes i agree i dont get why these manufacturers or whoever advertise at BIT instead of BYTE) you divide the Mbit number by at least 8 to get youre MAX or at least realistic average speeds. 100mbit divided by 8 gives alittle over 12 megabytes total. Sata II 3 gb/s same thing. to an extend only some pro's will say divide by 10. hence if you look at ssd's like G skill phoenix pro 120gig ssd.....(continued)

What type of internet do you have. Im on a school computer that has 100Mbps. Mine at home has 212Mbps. So many have gotten this wrong and dont realize it but Mbps means megabits. and MBps means megabytes. 8 megabits equals one megabyte. I want to connect to Xbox Live, but I dont know if mine is fast enough:
Up to 7.5 Mbps download speed
Up to 512 Kbps upload speed
60 GB/month data transfer
On the computer (here) things are pretty good, so, is it fast enough? Because I really dont know to much stuff about this.

What type of internet do you have. Im on a school computer that has 100Mbps. Mine at home has 212Mbps. So many have gotten this wrong and dont realize it but Mbps means megabits. and MBps means megabytes. 8 megabits equals one megabyte. So if your going at 8 megabits per second, im sorry dude you will lag out your ass

uh, I have 1 mbps and i'm fine on xbox live. no really noticeable lag, just the odd stutter... 7.5 mbps is great for almost anything, you don't really need more than that, though people keep upgrading to higher and higher speeds.

mine sucks so much, I pay for 3Mbps so that should be 375KBps ( bytes not bits ) right? Think again!!! it's 171KBps!!!! if lucky, average download speed is 50 - 80 kbps!!!! WTF?!!!

we had verizon until we lost our phone like a month ago, and I know that Cable is you dont need to have a phoneline, but what else is it different of? whats the difference between those 2. We're getting Comcast, not sure when.
