@nena0377 u dun need to aspirate for subcut, becouse u r injecting in fat layer...u will not hit any blood stream . ONly IMI becouse it is way more deeper....
ohh i asked my teacher...with a sub Q you dont aspirate when youre doing an inject right on the skin 90 degrees, but you do aspirate with a sub Q if youre doing a fold of skin in a 45 degree angle..hope this clears up things!
@Val1436 aspiration is only for intramuscular injektions. if you do it right, that lump of skin you squeeze together, cant make the needle go much further then SC each way of injection has their special needle..
@RCPbob I agree, there is no reason to aspirate an SQ injection. Aspiration is usually IV- to make sure you are in the vein. At a 45 degree angle into fat, you are not really aiming for anything
Check if you actually are in the subcutaneous layer by slightly moving your siringe right and left and also first pul back to see if you are in any bloodvessel with the tip of your needle...
Thanks

Actually, aspirating during Subcu depends on the medication given.

@RCPbob Aspirate is ok, I think. Except for insulin and heparin. It's based on what I've read.
