  • just great! Have you considered this "Vermont Lottery Master" big winner (do a search on google)? Ive seen some articles shocking words about him and with my work buddy we thinking about plenty of cash to get with his blueprint. $ Vermont lottery master way to make money.

  • I was tracking lotto # in my state and I narrowed it down to about 8 # after along time of keep tracking them and 4 got to play that night and guess what happened the mix of 8 # came out and 6 # in a row for the jackpot its was a 50Millon jackpot @ the time. Thats how it goes . : (

  • so the ? is did he play ?? and if not ....what a dumb ass !!

  • How could anybody benefit from his predictions? It was too late to buy a ticket so nobody could have won anyway. His statement that he was banned from buyin ga ticket is also a lie.

  • kl! NOT A CAMERA TRICK! JUST CUZ HE CAN DO IT! xD

  • this is such a waste of everyones time!

  • cheap camera trick

  • Ha ha, what a load of shite. I thought he had actually shown the numbers before they were drawn.

It's so obviously a split screen, someone is putting in the balls on the left as it is overlayed with an image of the static balls, then the overlay is taken off. Rubbish!!!

  • Part 2:

Now after the last ball has been dropped if you look very carefully you can see that the ball on the left end has become slightly raised against the others and against the black bricks on the wall behind.

When Derren Brown turns the tray around you can clearly see that the ball on the end (now the right end) which is number 39 is slightly higher than the others as it has not been placed in the tray properly.

  • Part 3:

Therefore the balls at the end of the broadcast are NOT the same set as the ones at the start.

So split-camera effect (with artificial camera-shake) and a magician's assistant (with NO studio audience present) are the solution.

The arrival at the prediction is therefore irrelevant as the balls have simply been swapped during the live show.

  • Part 4:

The apparent semi-success of the 24 members of the group predicting previous lotteries is another independent scam to give some sort of false explanation for the prediction.

So TWO scams together and the whole thing nothing more than a conjuring trick to mislead and misdirect people - and play on their greed and gullibility!

See notorious internet Animator Cyriak on the Charlotte Gore website to see how he did it. In fact, he demonstrated it working!

  • explain how its a split screen effect when the camera work is shaking? they wouldnt be able to get a good split screen if it was and it is. Also notice that the balls are tightly fitted into the holder so it could mean that the space wasnt big enough for all balls to be straight so one raising up to make room

  • Clearly a camera trick. Think about it. Any other method he could have done with a live audience present. he can't do camera/video tricks with a live audience it would be sussed

  • an excellent theory i heard is that the left side of the screen gets frozen so that someone can add the correct numbers ?! very smart :)

  • or pre recorded all the alt enedings which would take years like when he did "the System"

at 5 mins the 1st ball glitches upwards, he states "theres a year of my life right there" after showing you his balls (lol) balls

  • Absolutely no idea how he did it - but its nothing to do with so-called psychic abilities - he's a magician, he's all smoke and mirrors (a very good one) in the same vein as David Copperfield (making Statue of Liberty "disappear") and the weirdo Blaine

  • "I can believe he spent a year of his life working out probability, checking what's more likely to come up, that's something he would do"

    ROFL

NO number is "more likely to come up". You obviously have a very tenuous grasp of probability...

  • It bugs me a little how people knock this guy. Hes very entertaining and very VERY clever. His critics Knock him out of envy. Dont you wish you could do what he does? Hes not a psychic. And has never claimed to be. He knows and has already told us all, if you bother to listen, that he is mainly a "suggestionist" The way he reads your mind is the same way every two bit con artist and so called MEDIUM has always done it. Simply by reding peoples suggestionable body language. It's a very hard skill

  • Comment removed

  • Hahaha no one gets it. Darren puts the time into useless stuff, like on the show after her menmorizes the a to z atlas of London, he puts the time and effort in, I can believe he spent a year of his life working out probability, checking what's more likely to come up, that's something he would do. And for people who think it's a video over dub, the camera moves, quite a bit, it'll be impossible to dub over. If they overlayed it the cameras would have to be completly still for it to work.

  • there is no probability in the lottery, they all have the same equal chance of being picked

  • the atlas reading was a trick he had a hidden earpeace in his sleeve button watch he puts his hands to his head and is told by his assistant in the back who also has an a to z who tells derren the info. I know most of his tricks ive studied magic for ten years

  • nah way, the camera moves in a precise mechanical way it would be easy to set up a machine that moves identically every shot. ?? however random it would "appear" in fact.. there is no doubt it was done to throw people off..... it was an overlay :)

  • The youtube video

    en2SdwAg

has the solution and a remake of the stunt to prove the theory.

  • simple camelot was in on it its all a publicity stunt to get more ppl to play the lotto he's a fraud and his acting is terrible

  • i haven't even bothered readin all ur comments sayin how its fake or not. we'll find out how/what he did on friday :D maybe he did something to our heads.. like made us THINK he was right? xD sorry that makes NOO sense i know.

  • 3:20

(mindless chatter delay) OH oh this is it(by time he said that the name had already past screen and he was watching the tv when it past... which could mean something?

ps. i have never seen derren brown before but after this i am anticipating his other 3 shows following this...

  • ERR FIXEDD

  • I like Derren Brown and hes talented at his other things, but anything televised isnt a "trick", its just special fx which we've all seen before.

  • Just watch video by oneone25percent that's how it was done 100% proof..

  • It's simple ... just 'freeze' the left side of the image.. change the balls... and then switch back to live broadcasting.. This is easyly done with

    digital equipment...

  • Agreed. You can see the switch, it occurs when Derren is reading the ball numbers out at the end whilst he's writing on the pad (to misdirect you!)

Look at the top edge of the balls, they're completely in line, and then between him saying, "23.......28", thats when the left edge of the screen (masked by a composite) goes to a live broadcast, and you can see that the ball on the left has popped up a bit. You can see this at the end and he pushed them all in to 'tidy up'.

  • The bit at the start is probably pre-recorded, and the main footage is shot from a 3rd cam which cuts in when they go from the 'long shot' back to the supposedly handheld cam.

It's shaking A LOT. I reckon its really a completely static camera with the shake added in realtime (by cutting into the frame and jiggling around). This static camera aids with having a faked image on the left side of the screen, behind which the balls are simply placed as they come out....

  • ..then at the 23...28 point despite having been shaky all the time, there's a perceptible period of REALLY STILL camera action, during the point the 'full real frame with no faked left hand side' is brought in...maybe hit a bit of processing limit with the 'shake' plug in and pulling off the composite?!

Throughout ALL this main shot, "nothing happens" on the left side. Makes it easier to do the composite....

  • ..then at the end as the camera swings across as he walks to behind the balls to do the reveal. Watch that motion again and again, it doesn't "feel" like its the handheld camera man. It seems like a really smooth turn and zoom in of a fixed camera....

(not sure what order all these comments I've just posted have come out! - but paste them all together and thats how it works I reckon)

  • Great answer FunkyMagicUk and could well be true, but don't you think Derren is more skilled that to use simple camera trickery. I am a big fan of his I can't recall him ever using camera trickery in this sense before. The only reason I could think of for him using camera trickery would be to promote his up coming Events on a bigger scale. Although, this would show him in a bad light if he just used simple camera trickery...

  • Yes - I kind of hope its 'something different! And unless its 100% clear when he 'reveals' I'll believe my guess.

But - the few odd things noted (shaky camera with odd stationary bit, comments about BBC, the jump to the long shot and back at the start, the 'moving ball', even the way the 'handheld cam' swings across as he walks behind the plinth at the end I can't put my finger on it but it doesn't SEEM like the motion of a hand held camera?) seem to stack up with a polished camera trick

  • Lottery sales stop at about 7.30 so there's no reason he couldn't have done it at 7.35, or at least shown the numbers to an audience, it wouldn't have benefitted anyone. He doesn't know the numbers before, that's why he has to do it at the same time as they are announced.

  • Number one, The BBC have the right to be the first to announce the numbers as Derren said. Number Two, He was banned from doing the lotto himself this week so NO ONE benefitted. And Number Three, he's an illusionist, no one can predict lotto numbers. Nice trick though ;)

  • He wouldn't have 'announced' the result, it would have just been his PREDICTION and why would it have mattered after 7.30 anyway? Nobody can buy another ticket. Unless you think there is an actual system and Camelot are aware of it!!! Camelot may have been in on the trick though, he kept going on about how it wasn't illegal, maybe the lottery wasn't actually live at all??? There's no real reason why it should be.

  • if he cud predict the lottery why didnt he buy a ticket, another couplea million pounds couldnt hurt

  • wow thats unbelievable!

  • Great trick, but this can only have been done digitally.

I think he used "light box" technology and the balls were blank until the numbers were called. They were then transcribed to the balls either by a third party, or some clever handwriting recognition gizmo in the board he wrote on.

  • to be honest i think its all down to cancelling out numbers from previous lotto draws until he has six, but them numbers could have easily came out before, so in a way yes its impossible. He did say 'thats a year of my life right there' so that shows this takes foooking ages to do lol.

  • Why cant it be fixed ? if they taped the draw ?

  • WHAT???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • tell me about it its crazy

  • I heard he was gonna do this and hes done some amazing stuff in the past but.... This is impossible!!!!!

  • i did not think he would pull it off reason i watched because i could not think in my mind away to do this even if its a trick and he did it some how your right it "should" be impossible but it cannot be fixed thats what makes it more crazy
