I'm reading the book now. I knew the truth long before I picked up the book. My dad was born in 1932 Germany so he grew up with first hand knowledge of fascism and communism. The shocker: They're both very similar--not polar opposites.

I guess you are right about generalities and all but the liberal I was speaking of was John Kerry in a C-span interview and it was about post re-education camps in post vietnam war vietnam where he said that people that went to those turned out to be fine well adjusted citizens. There was one good story about a bunch of commies & dupes going to a protest against the warmongers Churchill & Roosevelt on 6/22/41 when they got the news that Hitler attacked their Red paradise. They immediately switched the topic to help the Red victims of fascism but most of their signs were still anti US & UK. Wish we had won in Nam, which was more justified than Iraq

Between 8/1939 & 6/1941 the Nazis & the Soviets had the Non Aggression Pact which gave Hitler a free hand in return for the Soviets grabbing Bessarabia, the Baltic Republics & Eastern Poland. So to honor their end of the treat,y the Communist Party supported Hitler & called Churchill and Roosevelt a warmonger. But when the Nazis attacked Russia on 6/22/41, all that changed in a flash & then the Soviets hated the Fascists/Nazis and sought all the aid they could get from us & England.

I was doing some reading and I also found out that there were two kinds of socialist. International and National socialist. International wanted workers without countries but national socialist wanted to retain their national identity. This was another big beef between the two sides. And I believe (and I'm not sure) national socialist wanted to allow business (but still maintain an iron grip on them) to keep their profits so they can stay in business. But I'm not 100% sure yet.

Sorry about your hurt feelings there. but "demonizing" and "lying" aren't very liberal things to do. What they are probably doing, and you fail to see, is calling the vast majority of ANTI-libs they have met EITHER stupd, pro-violence, pro-greed, OR pro-force (fascism).

He probably put that on their to get people's attention and while it might have offended a lot of liberals it doesn't say anything that isn't true. Most people who were calling for "change" in the 1930s were trying to implement similar ideas that Mussiline and Hittler were doing in Europe. Read the newspapers of the day and you will see that the term fascist was applied to many American politicians who were on "liberal side".
