i love phish, and trey is def. one of my favorite voices/guitar heros...however ...HOWEVEEEEERRRR....his tone is not near the best in electric guitar history...its amazing that i will give you but stevie ray has the best tone ever!
The attitude is the same. They want the perfect set every time they hit the stage. Of course things are going to change with sound and positions but what the fuck? U cannot compare 1994 to 2009. It's a pointless endeavor. For me personally growing up with the band I like the new songs and styles. Its ambitious and extremely personal. I consider it a new era with phish. They are growing older gracefully inside this thing of theirs. Its classy, its edgy, and it fucking still consumes me!
I wish Page would turn is piano to the side like he used to, he looks so hidden when he has it facing the stage, i miss being able to see the finger action
Actually, They probably are getting "Phunky" Just that you cant hear it. The camera is plugged directly into the sound board. Thats why this Boot-leg Has such good quality.

they played this second song (first night) at the gorge... one of the few daylight songs; my man was draggin his feet, and i was mime pulling him in,,,,,,, love it
Gotta be honest--new songs are so welcome. The old stuff is great, but...old and ever more difficult to revitalize.
I dig this song, and in my opinion, this is the best version of the summer--I can hear a passion and delicate melody in Trey's voice that does not come with the older songs.
indeed, you can tell Trey really likes to sing/play it...its a feel good song for me...I obv thought it was ok at the show, but really liked it after hearing the show. which is always the case w new stuff for me.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
For every ten Phish songs, there's always one that makes you say, "When is this song gonna be over so they can play the next one?" This song is one of those rare non-precious gems.
PHISH SUCKS AND JERRY GARCIA IS DEAD scram you HIPPYS god look at all those swaying hippys smokin pot they look like a bunch of bums i feal like im watching the southpark episode were the hippys came to town, god damb hippys the dead sucks
Dude your page says you play country music. A lot of the Deads music is country/bluegrass based. How can you (a country fan) not like most of the Dead and Phish's music??..It's sooo rooted in country/bluegrass.....And damn dude lighten up....lol
lol u caught me hey man im just fucking with u guys i love frying balls to the dead n phish, i love all music black metal rock old new whatever i dont care music is music, i like envoking fans of music to see what a true fan would say i like to see how people would defend music in the same way i did, i think i deleted it but i had on my profile a video i made called why grateful dead is punk n i did a cover of friend of the devil in a punk band
i have two jobs n im in two bands that get payed to play shows n i help do the soundtrack for a cartoon called bob middle finger sorry u just get offended on your time maybe if u had more to do things wouldnt get to you good day sir
haha everyone go check out skumdictators recordings on his channel. thatll pretty much end this argument. learn to play a fucking instrument before you bash other people's music you screamo powerchord playing pussy
ur fucking stupid, no shit it sounds like the dead phish complete ripped off grateful dead they didnt even try to add originality they just completely ripped off the dead fuck these jam bands this is kids music i go these concert n beat u fucking hippys up for ur drugs
lol...try it asshole, I'll rip out your eyes and skull fuck you.
And so you learn something...Phish didn't completely rip off the Dead anymore than they were influenced by alot of other bands. The only thing Phish truly ripped from the Dead is the spirit of playing improvised music. With the exception of Ocelot and maybe the Mango Song, I don't hear the Dead in their music. Now run along and listen to your Linkin Park shit ass music.
with most music historically it has been the music first and then when over the edge fans push the performers beyond human means they turn to painkillers and alcohol. And it knows no genre. It takes all from Kurt Cobain to Ray Charles. Not to mention countless metal performers...
and your life is so full that you go to a place you dont like listen to a song and comment on it you wlll have bad KARMA i guarantee it. get a clue you loser.....
I think this cat should spend some time listening to the dead and phish and he would see a big difference. If anything Phish is more highly influenced by bands like the beatles and traffic and frank zappa. all music is connected.
yeah, i look at it like they are now ok with playing dead sounding tunes but it's cool to me because of the odd meter that happens everyonce in a while. but definitely, wouldn't that be something if that was still possible!
I"m a huge phish/trey fan. Appreciate the skill the whole group brings. But i gotta' admit; i think trey's sound with his guitar on this tour is junk. He is not sharp and his guitar sounds sick. Sick, meaning has the flu, not a good type sick. Sorry, but i just have to say.
He needs to go back to the fender amp and his old effects that let his guitar sing! that's my opinion anyways. . . flame on.
his tone and technique is the best its ever been. the moaning and distortion he uses is all intentional. hes practically singing through his guitar.
listen to THE ENTIRE tour so far from beginning to end over a small period of time and you might notice how he improves and uses his new precision and skill. hes ripping shit apart.
I disagree. He is not nearly as sharp. Not even close. My point is he is not singing through his guitar like he once was. He is moaning.
I am a huge phish fan. So don't act like i'm just some random dude. A lot of heads think any constructive criticism is not warranted. But it is. I have over 350 shows on CD, so i know phish.
I mean, clearly they arent playing like they were in the 90's. the difference between then in now is the fact that in the 90's they were TRYING to make it.
now, they HAVE made it. so you need to take what they play with a grain of salt kind of. they are legends, so listen to their music from the standpoint of "they are 10x doper at music than I am at pretty much anything". there were some SICK jams this summer. red rocks tweezer jam?? ohh shit.
I was at this Show and this song was Funky as hell and he is singing better now than he ever has. He has a new found respect for what he is playing. His sister died in 08 so he is playing for her

LIsten the Grateful Dead is gone and buried, they have rocked the world over and done it with legendary status. Phish is a completely different sound man!! Everyone needs to move forward and not live in the past
Well, Mike definitely has an infusion of Phil in this one. You're right, Phish is it's own monster, but this is the closest Phish has ever sounded to the dead. Trey's first quick jam has a little Jerry Flavoring, but the longer Jam is all Trey. Page is doing his own thing and one Fishman is always better than Two Dead drummers.
