i saw the part where they saw the monkeys everywhere today on tv... i think my fav part at 7:20 was when he was telling the kids to go get them a roast goat and to be back before sunset.. that was soo funny!
whats the F800GS like? Seen the bumph - it looks very good.
Thanks on the DVD - awesome
And Australia - also on my wish list. On my 1st trip I met an Aussie in middle of Namibia who was riding around the world from Australia on a 25 year old BMW R65 (I think). He had ridden across Asia, the Stans, Europe and down the west coast. Now thats an adventure.
The F800GS is fantastic. Great on the road and not bad on certainly most of the Off Road stuff that E & C did in LWD. It would struggle in deep Siberian mud I'm sure. It's lighter than the 1200 and theres a good vid here on YT for the GS Trophy in Tunisia. Ewan and Charley are slated to do Long Way up in 2009. I'll be interested to see if they go with the lighter F800GS. :)
awesome did you get to ride with the guys or where you going in opposite directions? I actually think I saw you on the 10 episode DVD, could have been in the special features.
I havent seen new DVD - so if you can post that would be great. Actually we were going in opposite directions as I was heading north and then off road into the best game park in Luangwa Valley from Chipata. Charlie and Claudio stopped and we chatted. I am just about to start west coast route up Africa - but DRC is a bit of a problem. Still, nothing ventured.. spend Xmas in a civil war zone haha Freedom at its best, right?
there is a Nike logo (I think ) that says "just do it". Well.... I was at my desk in an accounting firm - suddenly thought... "f**k this" and the next month I am cruising through the most stunning African scenery on my KTM. Freedom at its purest. Even though hteir ride is a bit of a TV production - you can't take away their achievement and the sense of freedom and fun we all had.
i agree with you mate. You gotta live life. I've said f**k this a few times with dirtbiking. Finally said f**kit and sold the dirtbike to get a F800GS. Arrives this saturday, cannot wait. Africa one day but for christmas this year I will head up through central Australia.
love adventure riding, esp. on BMWs the only bikes that can do that sort of thing. but movie stars have the bucks to make it happen with chase vehicles etc. there are many out there that do these routes with no money to speak of. joanie baloney
jadeleb: THen watch Long Way Round and you'll see they had no money and had to beg borrow and steal to do the trip. They also had to work their asses off to try to get it made into a TV show to promote certain charities. You'll also hear Euan talking about how he had to ask for advances on his pay to a bike for himself when working on Star Wars - not so much the rich movie star then really.
Tommy you grew up . That was a nice emerald forest they visited, its to bad we still have wars in this world and all the suffering , maybe on a star far far from here some advanced beings are watching and deciding what to do next with these earth beings .
Im so loving this, cant wait to get the new dvd coming out, looks like the boys hadso much fun on there trip wish i could have gone on the adventure with them.

Why do people on the telly always have to have a camera crew following them around whatever they're doing?
