Marseille & Muncheberg are exceptions who fought in the west.

Check our military records and you'll see it in plain black and white.

as has been stated before the Luftwaffe had been rendered ineffective and virtually obsolete on the whole before the Tuskegee airmen entered the war. D-Day on June 6 1944 was made very possible because the Allies had already won air superiority over the Germans.

BibleHoliness1 the name of the person in question as being an ace or not is Arher. Some say he got that at a dogfight on Oct.12, 1944 over Lake Balaton in Hungary while being the wingman for Pruitt. The 5th got shot down while trying to flee to a nearby airstrip.
The 332nd Fighter group was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for its' longest bomber escort mission to Berlin, Germany on March 24, 1945. During this mission, the Tuskegee Airmen (then known as the 'Red Tails') destroyed three German ME-262 jet fighters and damaged five additional jet fighters. A record that until that time had never been done by ANY recip/ propellor powered aircraft in the US Military.
The 99th Squadron distinguished itself by being awarded two Presidential Unit Citations (June-July 1943 and May 1944) for outstanding tactical air support and aerial combat in the 12th Air Force in Italy, before joining the 332nd Fighter Group. The tenacious bomber escort cover provided by the 332nd "Red Tail" fighters often discouraged enemy fighter pilots from attacking bombers escorted by the 332nd Fighter Group.
about time they get some credit .. by the way the bit about the Luftwaffe is a load of bull. You may need to read some REAL history books on them. From 1941-1946, some 1,000 Black pilots were trained at Tuskegee. The Airmen's success in escorting bombers during World War II – having one of the lowest loss records of all the escort fighter groups, and being in constant demand for their services by the allied bomber units.- is a record unmatched by any other fighter group.
The Tuskegee Airmen did not fly active combat until around January 1944. Also, it was not a heroic effort to have one of the lowest records of escort service since the skies were already cleared by the allies earlier in the war effort. The Tuskegee Airmen were flying cleanup and facing a Lutwaffe that was now having to resort to flying inexperienced pilots with less supplies. The true heroes are the 1270 American aces but propaganda is full of politically correctness.

Check our military records and you'll see it in plain black and white.

as has been stated before the Luftwaffe had been rendered ineffective and virtually obsolete on the whole before the Tuskegee airmen entered the war. D-Day on June 6 1944 was made very possible because the Allies had already won air superiority over the Germans.

BibleHoliness1 the name of the person in question as being an ace or not is Arher. Some say he got that at a dogfight on Oct.12, 1944 over Lake Balaton in Hungary while being the wingman for Pruitt. The 5th got shot down while trying to flee to a nearby airstrip.

The 332nd Fighter group was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for its' longest bomber escort mission to Berlin, Germany on March 24, 1945. During this mission, the Tuskegee Airmen (then known as the 'Red Tails') destroyed three German ME-262 jet fighters and damaged five additional jet fighters. A record that until that time had never been done by ANY recip/ propellor powered aircraft in the US Military.

The 99th Squadron distinguished itself by being awarded two Presidential Unit Citations (June-July 1943 and May 1944) for outstanding tactical air support and aerial combat in the 12th Air Force in Italy, before joining the 332nd Fighter Group. The tenacious bomber escort cover provided by the 332nd "Red Tail" fighters often discouraged enemy fighter pilots from attacking bombers escorted by the 332nd Fighter Group.

about time they get some credit .. by the way the bit about the Luftwaffe is a load of bull. You may need to read some REAL history books on them. From 1941-1946, some 1,000 Black pilots were trained at Tuskegee. The Airmen's success in escorting bombers during World War II – having one of the lowest loss records of all the escort fighter groups, and being in constant demand for their services by the allied bomber units.- is a record unmatched by any other fighter group.

The Tuskegee Airmen did not fly active combat until around January 1944. Also, it was not a heroic effort to have one of the lowest records of escort service since the skies were already cleared by the allies earlier in the war effort. The Tuskegee Airmen were flying cleanup and facing a Lutwaffe that was now having to resort to flying inexperienced pilots with less supplies. The true heroes are the 1270 American aces but propaganda is full of politically correctness.

@BibleHoliness1 I would LOVE to see where you are getting your "historical fact". If you aren't producing it from anything in print (accepted by the library of congress) I can just about imagine where your "factual" information is coming from. heh. If you'd like I can point you to about 20 books (3 of which were printed in the 50s when political correctness was NOT exactly in LOL) that would strongly dispute your information. Care to challenge? Book to book? *grins*

@ComplexIdealism I'll take that challenge with you any day.While I do not agree with everything BibleHoliness1 says,I do have facts that the T/A's records have been VERY exaggerated and played up,even on Wilki. I do not subscribe to historical revisionism either.And I'm probably closer linked to pilots of the 99th than anyone posting here.Much of this was sparked by nonfactual reporting by the Atlanta Journal Constitution trumping up the 99th's record

@OakIslandBandit what's your take on it? very exaggerated and posing statistical "fact" are two different things. :) Love to hear your input :) btw I am close to them as well :) my grandfather was a mechanic with them about 2 years after they were started :) but I'd love to hear your input.
