  • It could have been early 1975 - TORRENS went into refit at Williamstown during 1975.

  • I meant he wasn't onboard in 1974.

  • I am pretty sure it was 1975. John Bartels (Sea King observer then, A4 pilot later and the Captain of the QANTAS 747 that had the emergency over the Phillipines a year or so ago) took some great stills on the day and he wasn't onboard in 1975

  • Thanks for the comment - glad to hear from someone who was actually there - most of the S2 footage was taken in 1972 when I was a bridge watchkeeper for 6 months but the JB segment I think was when I was aboard TORRENS in 1974.

  • Good footage, would have been even better with sound but not that easy back then. I flew them 1973-1983 with VC 851 and VS 816. I was flying that day with the strong winds when we stayed inside Jervis Bay. Great times. JMac

  • Great shots - thanks for the memories of the great "STOOF"

  • I was a NAMAE in the R.A.N. My choice of aircraft was the S2e. Worked on 'em on board Melbourne and at Albatross...

Great footage, brought back great memories ...

  • Great footage of the mighty Tracker. Well done.
