Hii Im trying to install my pro tools but when I do, all it says is..."Unable to locate digidesign hardware. Make sure your hardware is connected and turned on. Click "OK" and when the hardware is ready. What do I have to do to fix this?

Hi, I'm new to pro tools but I got everything set up. I've been working with it for about 10 days. I unplugged my mbox mini from my mac on Sunday morning and plugged it back up Sunday night, now I keep getting the message, "unable to locate digidesign hardware" even though it is plugged in. I've plugged and unplugged, I've even uninstalled protools and re-installed in an effort to resolve the issue. Nothing works. Any suggestions as to what will resolve the issue? Thanks.

if im running pro tools from mbox 2 on a laptop how big a hard drive will i need?

@whitexgreen well on a laptop if my memory serves me right the biggest one out there is 500GB but maybe you could find 750GB the bigger the better to store your samples and such the real thing you need is fast ass cpu and ram or when playing a lot of samples it will start to freeze and or lag like a skipping CD no matter what asio or other drivers you use hope this helps

@NGRAVEZ18 Yes you can put PT on as many computers as you want. You have to have an interface i.e. MBox2 to use it to record tough.

@MrJuanse1 When installing PT did you wait until instructed to connect the MBox? Sounds to me like your computer is not recognizing the interface.

@RikJamezBich With Midi cables would be the preferred method. But you could run 1/4" cables from your Left & Right outputs as well.

Digidesign is the hardware interface. Software will only run with the interface. You can get different models and expense. to get started try a rack rather than a mixer.
