dont be too rough on the BBC people. they are animating reign of terror and the ice warriors has yet to be released on dvd. my guess is that they may well be planning to animate the missing eps from it. several of its eps do exist already tho
@handadalek Can you tell me please which Troughton dvd stories have all the complete moving film like this and not just stills photos with added soundtrack as the film or video no longer available ?
@TheKenfig im afraid that there arent a lot. whereas Hartnell's missing eps are mostly whole eps, for Troughton there are lots of stories where a few eps are missing and the story is incomplete. there are far less complete Troughton eps compared to Hartnell. none from Troughton's 1st season, and only 1 from his 2nd exist in full.
@handadalek When you say 'complete episodes' that exist, do you mean serials e.g. Tomb of the cybermen all the parts to the story exist in live moving action etc. AND for the other serials on that list ?
@TheKenfig yes - sorry, should have put 'story'. those stories are the only ones that exist in full. The Invasion and The Ice Warriors are the nearest stories to being complete, both having only 2 episodes missing.
@handadalek Oh, good quite a few whole stories then ; I know more would be better but lucky theyre not all gone from that era. He was the first Dr.Who I remember well at the time as I turned 4 years old when he started in late '66 and about 6 or 7 when Pertwee started. I only vaguely remember William Hartnell near the end of his run. I just remember what he looked like with long white hair when I was very young though Ive seen him many time since of course
I bet if they organised a donate $10 to restore old Doctor Who episodes in the same way as The Invasion fund and we'll send you an official thank you letter they'd have the money to animate every single missing episode in less than a week. I'd gladly do it then buy the DVDs.
What did the wrist gun look like on the ice warriors in this episode because I have been told it was a small rectangular shape and later in other episodes a small cylindrical shape?
I haven't seen this episode but as it's the Ice Warriors is the Doctor on Mars here? Just wondering if in "The Waters Of Mars" the Doctor could have said to Adelaide
"You know it's funny this is the second time someone's threatened to kill me in an airlock on Mars"
@MarkJoseph4 from what I remember, this was future Earth, while the planet was going through an intense cooling period. The Ice Warriors had crash-landed at some point. The freaky pathogen thing in "The Waters of Mars" was suggested as being a reason why they might've LEFT Mars in the first place, though.
And, guys, don't be too critical of the BBC here. The animated bits of "The Invasion" were a total fluke, twisting finances and such. I do hope they find the budget to do more, though.

@TheKenfig BUT The Invasion does exist with episodes 1 and 4 animated. It has 8 episodes in total.
If you wanted to see the episodes that do exist from partially missing stories, they are all available on the Lost in Time boxset

Part of me would love to see the Ice Warriors again with todays makeup effects.
The other part of he hopes not to if they handle it as badly as they did the silurians
