  • I listened to the original show in October 2005,this is a re-telling of the story at a different time. What s the date on this footage because he really had this audience captivated.Sometimes when he tells a story twice it gets better the second time around.

  • @PDAJUGGERNAUT Yes this was the Friday night rehearsal. Quite a bit longer and less tight than the Friday broadcast. But they do sell out (Cheaper) tickets to the Friday run thru.

  • Proud to say that I'm from the area of "Lake Wobegon", MN. Out of all the years I had listened to Garrison Keillor and his stories of LW, it wasn't until his picture book, "In Search of Lake Wobegon", that I discovered that all the pictures are of my tiny 'map-dot' home town areas--all the areas that I grew up in and know so well, Central MN. My grandparents are even in a couple of the pictures!

  • So what happened inside the car with the wire coil? Anyone know the end of that story?

  • i love minnesota

  • I've said this before to many people, and will do so again.. Garrison Keillor is the best story teller since Burl Ives...

  • one of the best ever...

  • The master story teller..just love him! Can't get enough of his corny stuff!

  • Boy, you are way off mark. Here is an American who embodies the best about the US - humour, tolerence, wit, warmth, storytelling and humility. Be proud of him.

  • stream of consciousness is a wonderful thing. You are probably jealous of your inability to access your own stream.

  • We recall those crazy guys we knew named:

    Edson G

    "Peanut Butter"

and "Mary" who taught us so long ago how to "take one fact and then bulls*it with cohesion." We note that Dr/Mr Keillor and GF 'columbine clipper' --in truth-- have nothing to say. Nada, no-thingo, zilch-skee. That is their permanent legacy.

  • when garrison sings, keith olberman, don imus, rush limbaugh and bill o'reilley join hands, sit around a campfire and sing....................the judy garland song book.

  • yeah!

A lot of very different kinds of people really can get along when we sit down to listen to a good story :)

  • Maybe Athens can name someone who 'got along' after listening to Mr Keillor.

  • @lumpagogo

Um, just about everybody in his audience, is my guess! I mean, folks of ALL persuasions love Garrison. Guess what: dat's called DIVERSITY :)!!

  • Does anyone have his story on local Ice Hockey matches...guns, booze, fights and the match continuing on a broken ice sheet floating in to Lake Superior...that was one of his funniest.

  • So what happened with the wire from the coil?

  • Keillor consumed it.

  • unintelligent people are usually confused about what Mr. Keillor talks about, and consequently, end up frustrated with no one to take it out on, except the person that confused them in the first place. Somewhat similar to our current president.

  • Dr. Garrison Keillor put the woe in Lake Woebegone. In fact, Dr. Keillor's brainwaves could kill every virus and pathology in the Universe but doctors fear these brainwaves will kill them, too.

George Spanish Bush, Jr., aka W. Allah, is a whole 'nother nightmare.

  • when HILLARY CLINTON LAUGHS, Garrison Kiellor seeks refuge in a convent of polish nuns and recites the baltimore catechism, vows to do stations of the cross every friday in lent and say the rosary of St. Margaret with FULL EJACULATIONS OF THE CROSS!

  • I only just heard about Garrison Keillor last week and as soon as I listened to him on the radio I went to the abc site and listened to past programmes. I love them all!

  • i remember in the 80's and 90's when this guy was a laugh riot, then some fool told him to sing,,,now we got melcancholly LURCH, when garrison sings; santa claus wants to kill himself, statues of guys on horses cry, cheerleaders stop cheering, and global warming FREEZES. aaaarrrrrghhhh! can't take this abuse much longer!

  • Boo-Boo's way is better after all.

    Travel the Boo-Boo Lane.

  • Dang thing is missing the punchline or is it just me?

  • GK's voice is like warm milk! I could listen to him read the phonebook!

  • OMG, yes! That's it completely! I've been searching for the right descriptive words for his sound for years, and that's it right there!

  • GK is the best Storyteller/ Radio host in the whole World!

  • Just love you, Garrison. And thanks for speaking out about the terrible policies of these Republicans.

  • Here's a Republican who has loved Garrison for 20+ years (gosh, time has flown :)

  • Shiroukbah, well, I'm glad you love Garrison. I wonder how you feel about his anti-Bush comments. I guess people are complex if they can love the tolerant stance of Keillor and the black/white stance of these neoCons.

  • When exactly did it become the norm in this country that if you disagreed over politics you weren't supposed to like each other. I'm a Republican and have heard his comments and still love to listen to his show, if fact I'm working in Minnesota now helping build an ethanol plant, green enough for you, and I am going to his taping tonight. I am very excited since I have been listening since about 1978.

  • jdpugh,

I'm sure I would love you in person, even though I don't agree with the Republicans' stance, especially on foreign affairs. I believe in a kind, helping, non-warring Jesus and someday a world that won't spend trillions on war, but will work together under a democratic world federation. I know Rpeublicans would fight me on that, though maybe you can clue me in on something better.

  • He's not anti-gay or pro-Iraq war, you fucking idiot.

  • You're gay...not that there's anything wrong with that.;)

  • bry:

You're not no good no more, :).

  • What's wrong with being patriotic? And who cares what he thinks if you're gay? be who you are and don't worry about what others think. There is always someone who doesn't "care for" a caertain lifestyle or opinion. Own your gayness, and screw everyone else.

  • I was right with you up to the screw everyone else bit

  • nickmggivney....sorry, i was just saying that don't worry what other people think...just be yourself. Don't you ever get fed up and just want to say screw it?

  • Complex to live with, and to be comfortable with, my own opinion and the opposing opinions of other people?

Nya. You give me too much credit. I think it's just part of being a grown up :)

  • This takes me back to a time sitting and listening to my dad and my uncles reminiscing about old stories of their youth. GK truly is a national treasure.
