  • This is amazing.. love it! :)

  • Did they show this on PBS before? Do they've this on DVD because if they do,I want to buy it?

  • Genocide is too disgusting to mention in our history books...

  • @vherring67 yes it is. the truth would devastate the arrogant American pride - that's for sure. And perhaps that's what this country needs.

  • i want to pick up a stone and go fight those....barbaric Europeans, iam so proud to be a mayan.......from BELIZE

  • @spiritwindbelize Be grateful rather than proud. Being Mayan is as good as you make it. Remember if not for the Grace of God there goes you and yours. Remember!!!!! This will be your strength as you grow in faith. Faith is the key that unlocks the door to the future. Faith is the belief in things unseen.

  • How is that "actors" act so stupid, acting so smart? farming 101

  • NO WE DID NOT DECENT FROM ASIA! IGNORANT IDIOTS!

  • @NativeKween91 Actually, everybody on earth decended from Africans, even North American Natives. As far as Asia goes, some migrated from there about 30 thousand years ago. Some came over along the ice of the last mini ice-age from what is now Europe, a little later. It's all found in the DNA. But we're all one people (from Africa) if you go back far enough!

  • @NativeKween91 i agree this out of asia sounds like bullshit to me i mean i know many natives and they dont look asian natives are bigger taller and dont have slanted eyes the only thing that makes natives look abit asian is the long straight hair and high cheeckbones natives look completly unique some even have grey eyes and they are 100% NATIVE dont listen to this fools they only say this so we look like outsiders in our own home lol they fail

  • @borneo215 I have the changeable eyes of my folks. Cat eyes they are called. We know who we are and we know each other.

  • I have been watching this series, my heart is very heavy with sadness. I am not Native but Irish. I have been gifted an Indian Name: Still Wind Whistler. I will always speak the truth of history which is paved with blood and lies. I will speak alway the truth of the First People of North America. ahi mitakuye oysim-All my relations!

  • Like I suggested, try googling for Pedra Furada, maybe look up Clovis culture. The wiki on that mentions findings that dispute the dogma we are told that the Clovis culture was first. That might not be true.

  • Although it's heresy to say it here in North America, there is evidence of people in the Americas before those we now call Native Americans:

    try Pedra_Furada_sites

  • Speaking the truth!

    OUR LAND, and our genocide1

WAVOKA told of the need to HANG ON'

    - Chicano me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @PacificCircle1 where did the olmec, maya and inca come from? did they also not commit genocide? all have a past with horrible histories of conquering...some are newer than others...

  • @em114ify Came from here; genocide is wrong NO MATTER WHO DOES IT.

  • @PacificCircle1 Of course, I agree with you. Please, I am not condoning genocide. All I'm saying is that many of us forget or are not interested in the past before it was recorded. Most of us got where we are because someone pushed someone else out of the way, as wrong as it is. We have to make the best with today and tomorrow and not simply hang on.

  • who else is here because of the hist 172 class? haha

  • Why does this documentary refer to native americans as indians?

  • Comment removed

  • @MakeSensePlz because the people in this documentary call themselves indians

  • The Natives were here before the Vikings and Columbus were here.

  • hey does anyone know the song that plays as the intro music to this series....i love this song.

  • @gorasikh5340 The music is composed by Peter Buffett. You can probably find the sound track of this series by the composer on amazon or maybe itunes.

  • @gorasikh5340 The song is "500 Nations" from Peter Buffet

  • @gorasikh5340 there is indeed a soundtrack on itunes if you haven' already found it

  • @gorasikh5340 it's the second cut on the CD titled 500 Nations. Yes, it is by Peter Buffet.

  • @katydidscorner We call our selves First nations as a whole in Canada.

  • what did natives call America before it was officially named America?

  • Comment removed

  • @elinheartstristin Home, thats what we called it and still do. each nation had its own name for it, i know for my ancestors it was Anahuak or "turtle island"

  • @elinheartstristin We called it many names in our respective languages.

"You can call a rose many different names, but it will always be a rose."

One common name was Anah'wak (land between the waters)

  • i hope the real cherokees are still alive because lately there's been alot of obvious fake ones.

  • @1980vince your fucknin stupid of course we are alive.....white man never won they just flooded the land w their non-sustainable way of life...we are still here!!!!!!

  • @thiizzma FUCK YOU I WAS JUST CONCERENED GO TAKE A FYING LEAP.

  • Were the Aztec a tribe? or a city?

  • The Aztec were a civilization located in central Mexico during Pre-Columbian time between 900 and 1521 C.E.

  • @valrk247 Sorry but the Aztec were from what is now known as the south west of the united states, the civilization that you are talking about were the Mexica.

  • @motlapilchihual I believe that is incorrect!

  • and as for if there were so superior why did they bring slaves from their original lands, because they were bored so they decided to bring slaves and the worst natives that faced the most were the native american.

  • It is unbelievable how evil has destroyed your land and communities..

You should be the rulers of America...

    You are the true Americans

  • I am from Indian and I am fortunate to befriend Indigenous people of this land that is currently known as North America. Now I have a better understanding of the Indigenous people, they are far from what the beast describe them to be and my appreciation for Indigenous people has grown. The Indigenous people have much to offer the citizens of this world if only the Indigenous people reach out to the world and make your self known. Please do not adopt the traditions and culture of the beast.

  • I didn't know that term

Thank you very much from Italy

  • according to who? American is not part of any nations language in present let alone ancient times...why embrace a term a murderer gave us .We are not indians....Indians are from India.... Indigenous Native is probably the best generic word.....it's up to each tribe what they would rather call themselves, which ironically can be said to my comment that I started this message with

  • @MEXIKAYOTL2012 The word indian is such a disrespectful term, in Canada we say First Nations as a whole or like you said the name of their specific nation is best.

  • great video upload...I just have a problem with the term american indian....since AMERICA OR AMERICAN is not a word in any Native Language......but all in all.......GREAT VID

  • Hello, when I was an international student in USA, I was luky to have a Cherokee Native American teacher, her name was Winchyinchala, and taught us about their rich culture in our English Composition class. That was my best teacher.

  • att:troylustig. I've seen virtually every episode of 'little house on the prairie' AND 'the waltons'. Therfore, you cant tell me that I'm ignorant of them dudes.

  • Kolumbus discovered America, thats by them wonderfull, but tell me what happened to all that civilizasion and to those whos this land was at those times? Chakravartin.

  • Im happy to see that some people are more in tune with their common sense. My Native kin folks are peaceful and honest people. We always beleived that some day the immigraters (whites) will start being good minded people. We're still waiting.

  • I would like to let the true owners of this land know that I was taught about the Indians and that they are good people.

Unfortunately I was not taught this in school and when I wanted to know more the information was not available.

I am thankful for the internet that the truth is now available and that the Indian history will continue on forever.

  • Most teachers dont teach you this in school, but I gotta say, my U,S. History teacher told us about everything. From the Trail Of Tears to the smallpox blankets.

  • @sxsinv yeah

  • @sxsinv

  • @sxsinv American Indians are very good people so is every other race and it is sad our government still wont teach the true history of the Indians past. I love learning about the past civilization that thrived here long ago and it piss me off that our government doesn't teach us about the thousands of people that lived in huge city's and built mounds that are older than the temple in central America.

  • @FutureScience2012 I agree! If the TRUE history was taught in our schools, Jefferson, Jackson, Washington would not be honored the way they are. The forefathers of this nation were worse than Hitler in the slaughter of 60 million innocent people while they declared.."Freedom & Liberty for All". By acknowledging history in truth, Americans would be less arrogant and less sense of entitlement. But most importantly respect and honor for the Native American's (whom we should all be paying rent to)

  • @FutureScience2012 Divide and conquer. Keep the races against each other.

My father told me that these mounds were built because of a meteor that once hit the Earth.

  • I pray our mother will at some time remove this cancer, even if we the native peoples must leave as well !!!!!

  • @interboroughrapid what the fuck are u talkin about white people are cancer and need to leave us native did nothing wrong...

  • We the real human beings whom have for10000 years have honored and respected our mother, the earth..! In a blink of an eye our mother has been raped, broken and destroyed ..Why ? Our white brothers whom believe only in themselves ,their material wealth are the savages..! They have brought filth, disease, corruption, destruction and pollution. To all those whom come across this..Let history, the truth be your teacher...!

  • @interboroughrapid Yes, let's got back to the days when we died 30 years earlier, when our chlidren and old folks froze to death in the winter, etc. Grow up and stop romanticizing the past.

  • @slappymcgroundout Hard life, but an honest one. I'd rather die 30 years earlier than live on in agony while wasting my children's inheritance on hospital stays and medications that do not cure.

  • we're not indians,we're native americans, people shoud stop calling us indians'i'm maya from Central America

  • really? so am I but from honduras, nice to see u defend urself my brother.

  • This film, 500 Nations, is mostly about North America but does include the Mayan and Aztec people. In the U.S. they're referred to as either Native Americans or American Indians. Either one is right but most prefer American Indian to Native American. They're officially called Indian reservastions, The Bureau of Indian Affairs, and so on. Native American is a much broader term which includes any indigenous people of the Americas, and now including Hawaiians who are not quote Indians.

  • Is mayan heritage easily translated in english?

  • @katydidscorner Aztecs and Mayans were/are in North America. Would it kill you to look at a map? LOL

  • @860kanmayangod true....indians is name white man "christopher colombus" named us after he thought he was travelling to india in asia but landed here....that said, fuck the whiteman

  • @simbakafiri this is why i hate white man, they claim they found this land under our feet.

  • @easkateman Hatred is self destructive. Would my folks be disappointed in those who hate???

  • @easkateman,I know, that's like saying that if I come to your house and claimed it for myself by saying that I discovered your house.

  • @easkateman Don't be so upset, as you know what is Truth. The great Spirit also Know What is Truth. Don't Damn Yourself with Hate.

  • @860kanmayangod but most Native American call themselves American Indian, i saw a pole on google

  • @communismkills1 Ah yes, the venerable GOOGLE search. Vessel for all things true.... NOT! Try talking to "The People" if you want facts.

  • @860kanmayangod we all are natives i was born hear and every one that i know was born on this soil as well, so the word native American should apply to every person that was born here in the USA, i like the name American Indians better no offense.

  • @860kanmayangod

But many Indians use the word Indian. A.I.M The American Indian Movement etc.

Native American and Amerindian are used alot nowadays.
