Greenish blue like it was in this clip indicates Severe Mode, or as what we know it as Pre-Storm Alert or Continuing Coverage mode. When the storm gets closer to land, they usually go into Storm Alert.
ok so im just wondering, why did they switch from greenish blueish to red with the storm alert graphics midway through Katrina? did it have to do with the storm's intensity? btw thanks for reuploading!
Isnt it interesting that Katrina went right over the same place where Andrew did before hitting Louisiana/Alabama...

They go into storm alert mode when the storm is only a few hours away from landfall.

both were Storm Alert, but they changed colors of the Storm Alert graphics once it hit the gulf
