I've followed his career for a long, long time... and even if we wouldn't agree religiously, it's hard to find a musician.. even a person, that is easier to respect. His entire career has been just following his heart and what he believed in, and it has never done him wrong.

With Mike Portnoy being out of Dream Theater and Avenged Sevenfold, and since he is doing a lot of projects throughout 2011, come 2012 and maybe for the rest of his career, I hope he becomes Neal Morse's studio and touring drummer. I mean they make good music so why not. :D

I'm very glad Portnoy decided to use his drumming skills for the glory of God, I hope that now after his departure from Dream Theater he decides to devote the greater majority of his time to praising God. Since much of the music in the Christian genre is lacking in true tacticians that understand their instruments and devote their time making their songs interactive. Just my opinion though.

@coffeshrap : I've been wondering. On the liner notes of Transatlantic's "The Whirlwind", Neal states that he heard Mike's prayer. I took it to mean that MP may have given his heart to Jesus during recording sessions Spring 2009. Fast forward to today. MP left DT Sept 2010. Yes he did A7X, but it ended late-Fall 2010. Neal's T2 album is about his struggles of leaving SB even though he loved that band. MP gave up his "baby" and is now touring with his musical & spiritual brother.

Also if you read between the lines of his 12 Step Suite about his Alcohol addiction, it has a heavy Christian influence upon it. . Such as the line "Now that you can see all you have done it is time to take that step into the kingdom all your sins will help to make you strong." Simply states the destruction caused by your sins are a driving factor towards Christ.

Love this track. It features on my hifi reference CD because of how great it sounds on a good system, the arrangement, melodies -- everything really. It also features some of MP's best ever drumming too IMHO.

AWWWWWWWWWSOME!!!!!!!! Sad...I got caught filming by some suck-urity

goon during this song in Whittier back in November 2003. he made me shut off the cam...and I had to sit there and NOT film one of the most incredible live spectacles I HAVE EVER BARED WITNESS TO..for the next 2 + hours afterwards. I am sure glad this show was filmed just a few nights before. T'would have been sacrilige if this tour was not captured on film for posterity! J/M.

Could somebody tell me the reason why so much people hate jesus and loves the devil? i really don't get it really, when marlyn mason worships the devil people are ok with it? i kone people don't like christianity because of freaking conservatives in this country, but you can't associate Jesus with them! Jesus didn't preach mind control and violence, or censorship! He preached the complete opposite! So i really don't get it.

First of all, nobody really worships the devil. If they did, they would've committed suicide. Anyone who hasn't is in it for the publicity. And, unfortunately, the conservatives (damn you, FOX!) are so intertwined with Christianity if not the teachings of Jesus, it's hard to tell who is a follower of Jesus's teachings and who's a follower of Pat Robertson.

What matters to me is that when Neal was "saved", he left Spock's Beard, and thereby ruining one of the greatest prog bands ever. I just don't understand why he had to leave SB because he found Christ.
