It's pretty pathetic when you see one of the best villains in literature start sobbing like a high school student after a break-up and shedding purple tears. Call me cruel, but while I'm tolerant of this movie, parts like that are laughable. I like seeing him more like the Christopher Lee kind being a complete bloodthirsty jerk to everyone. He at least had some self-confidence and didn't turn the story into a soap opera.
@Mathaius833 I'll say it again, Mina and Dracula are NOT in love with each other in Bram Stoker's novel and she is NOT the reincarnation of his dead wife. Jonathan and Mina are totally devoted to each other in the book and go on to have a son years later, and their characters are nothing like you see in this movie. It's great that some people actually like Coppola's little softcore porn film, but saying Jonathan should "screw off" based on nothing but this sleazy movie is ignorant.

You need to read it yourself to believe how little respect Dacre has for his ancestor's original book, but, suffice to say, it goes on the supposition that (as in this movie) Mina had always been in love with Dracula. Indeed, the book takes after some of this movie's "porno" characteristics.

It seemed he only wanted to capitalize on his last name by butchering his ancestor's novel. 'Dracula: The Un-Dead' made no sense whatsoever. It was untrue to the characters, and the part about Jonathan and Mina's son Quincey turning out to be Dracula's son was impossible, since vampires can't procrate that way and Quincey was born years later on the same day Quincey Morris died.
@Acig1981 funny story, though just a legend: Vlad once had a dinner party over, and surrounded the table with impaled victims. When one guest complained of the smell of the decay, vlad impaled him on an extra long spike, and placed him above all the rest of the victims, where he wouldn't have to breathe the stench. May be the source of that picture
