Such an underrated movie. I bought the DVD a few days ago and I can't stop watching it. The songs are addictive and Donald O'Connor is amazing. Vera-Ellen should be more famous- I'm such a huge fan! Too bad she's so thin in this... the part where she's dancing with Donald, you can see the bones on her back stick out.
Somethings cut out. Is it the dance sequence to this song? I always thought that was a separate segment, like a later reprise, but maybe it's part of this performance.
@ jaredjensen This movie is Call Me Madam - 1953 - a super movie with the adorable and incredibly talented Donald O'Connor. Check out his fantastic dances with Vera-Ellen from this movie and his great duet with Ethel Merman (the duet isn't on Youtube but the movie is readily available on DVD. Check out his dance with statues from There's No Business Like Show Business - it's a masterpiece! And, the De-Lovely dance with Mitzi Gaynor from Anything Goes is sooooo romantic. Donald had it all!
Donald O'Connor is an interesting lesson to men of today. He's adorable, but not actually handsome. His body's lean and long, not particularly burly. But he's a completely romantic figure, because he's utterly sincere in his pursuit. We women love sincerity. At least, I do. And Donald O'Connor. <3
wooing? who whoo's these days? bloody hell you'd be lucky if a man open's a door for you...I'm dying to be wooed..deep down most women want to be wooed....woo woo woo!..
Oh, men do. Except wooing cost a lot more money, getting babysitters, parking, dinner and tickets, and with what the economy being what it is it wouldn't hurt if you women pitched in on the wooing, not all the time but some of the time. Woo woo.
Donald o,conner could dance as well as gene Kelly and Fred, he was cheerful and could sing and ac t but is always in their shadow. Maybe he wasnt pushy enough. Pete'Kiwi'Keegan
Great composers´ music will always be timeless...guess I was about two, when this musical hit´the mooviescreen.I even liked the dancescene to this song, though I´m no expert...Funny..I feel "related" to my "neighbour" right below:)
yes it realy is the best number in "Call me madame", no one could have done it better than Vera Ellen and Donald O'Connor. I think it's to bad that the hole movie has been removed from youtube. I'm just happy that i had the chance to watch it, now that i have'nt got the chance to buy it in Denmark. Thanks for posting this song it realy is the best.
I love Donald but... I don´t like the woman..

Perry Como's recording of this song came out at some point in 1953, the same year as this movie version of the play
