This may have come out before Twilight the MOVIE, but not the book. Also consider the timely process of getting your book published. Stephanie Meyer is the true creator of the new vampire phase we're seeing everywhere, others are just trying to jump on the band wagon and try and steal her thunder.

IMO I like them all for different things.. I love Twilight's feeling of fantasy and Moonlight's story and action & Vampire diaries darkness.

That is certainly not true. Maybe Twilight was written before this, but Stephenie Meyer is most definately not the start of making vampires popular. Only in the sense that her fiction is so known. In that regard, sure, she started it. But Robin McKinley wrote her "Sunshine" before Meyer's wrote Twilight, and she makes Twilight look like a sad, childish knock-off of her brilliant novel. I'm tired of everyone thinking Twilight is something new and everyone else is folowing it. It's really not.

What I should have said is. Twilight has basically sparked this whole new found craze for modern-day Vampirism, in the forms of many TV shows and movies.. some better than others.

Though I'd say Harry Potter had more of an influence of engaging young minds into the realm of fantasy once more.

Either way, it makes people happy. And opinions are just that.

I do agree with that. Whatever was written or made first, Twilight made the entire vampire genre popular again. I don't think it's that original (even Meyers admits to using plots of classic literature to base her books on) but it did give other vamp stories an opportunity to be discovered.

I just started the HP series! On book 2. ;)

Well thanks. Yeah, despite what it seems... though I AM a Twilight Saga fan, I'm really not one of those die-hard, acid-throwing idiots. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing merchandise.. and I certainly don't want robert pattinson to "turn me" ...despite what it may have seemed lol.

I actually haven't read any of HP, not my cup of tea personally.

And yeah, Meyer can claim sparking a new trend and nothing else. She doesnt own the concept of modern vampires and certainly not the orginial ones.

And the point was the fact that Beth's dress and sweater was being compared to Bella's, as if the Moonlight people copied the Twilighters. As this show came before the MOVIE Twilight, that can't be true. Bella's sweater/dress collection is not described in the book like it was in the movie. So Moonlight couldn't possibly have knocked off Twilight. If anything, it was the other way around.

Moonlight is, no offense, LOTS better than moonlight. I've read them and loved them, (Don't get me wrong, I see a lot of bella in me), but moonlight is just not so dramatic and has a LOT MORE funny scenes. :~)

Twilight is like, "Meh. Too perfect and dream-like. " So many perfect characters and a unrealistic relationship between the male lead and the female lead.

Moonlight is more realistic in terms of relationship and characters. Characters with flaws and better material.

The only thing they have in common that the both are vampire-related and with the same type of relationship.
