No artists out there are like them! You may think it's random lyrics, but have to stop thinking among the main stream to get their message. That's part of the point on so many different levels! Don't compare, but take in what is different about a record label of artists that do it for the art!, and not the glory of being a sell out of main stream teeny bopping music on the radio, that's played constantly at clubs, weddings and sweet sixteen parties! Anti(con.formity) against that!
"Hey guys, my name's Yoni. When writing lyrics for cLOUDDEAD, I like dropping a kitchen sinks' worth of LSD and pulling words out of several different hats."
Agreed, I saw subtle on a whim some time last year just because a friend was going and he told me dose was their frontman, so I knew it'd be a good time.
I was fucking blown away, Dose puts on an amazing show.
well there's no doubt its art, i was just saying that there's no real...wats the word. like, i know that they're having fun, and i know that they really don't car what other people think. But there's a danger to that in which the performers seem to only care about themselves. sure is innovative, though.
i know, that's what i'm saying. if you put too much of yourself into your art you seem self centered. but if you put too much effort into pleasing an audience you seem like a "sellout". wow, i forgot about this vid, cool instrumental.
that is true art. doing it for your own purposes not for the audience, and they have already proven that people like it anyway. i would say there is more danger in caring too much what the audience thinks, thats not art but merely entertainment
To play devil's advocate, it is just as crucial for someone to be able to listen to their own work objectively to determine what material would best connect with the audience. Yes, artistic integrity is most important, but to not take the audience into consideration is why great bands come up with duds now and then.
@i2ivis if they're enjoyed by anyone at all they cannot rightly be considered duds, unless you view the goal of your art as 'to appeal to the most people possible, and the more I appeal to the better it is".
Truth, especially the rare, universal kind, is absolutely NOT measured in mass appeal.
Yeah, in their live shows, they change the songs to be shorter and be a little more "radio-friendly." Try listening to the live video of Jimmy Breeze on here. Sounds completely different.

@TubbyIsaacs it's actually the H2O chemical symbol for water (an H on both sides and an O at the back slightly lower connected by lines)
MichaelLeroi 1 year ago 6
@TubbyIsaacs it's actually a molecular diagram of H2O. You can see it better in the full concert dvd.

I wouldn't say it's more radio freindly.. just different. Half the live stuff is actually slowed down life (like some of this song for example)
We can surely all agree though, that cLOUDDEAD fucking rock.
