we took the length and the girth and did the math they use to get close to the weight. A little under or over but it is close. I have tried it on fish that i could weigh and it was very close.

acually they did it because goliath griupers formerly known as "jewfish" are a protected species of grouper and legally must be let go, i know from experience i caught a 450 lb one myself and i wasnt aloud to take it in the boat, i had to let it go on the spot

Good job.....Arms tired? Looks like your trying to lift a Volkswagon off the bottom. I got a couple of rigs I fish out of Matagorda Texas and have been hooked several times to either a Goliath or a Big Jewfish. Broke me off everytime. I think next time I go I'm going to find some braided stainless cable and the baddest, nastiest hook I can find, hook him and then tie him to a cleat on the boat and drag him out.
