  • Does anyone know what kind of wider lens, not neccisarily wide angle, i can put on my simple SONY HDR CX150?

  • @xMoNSTAMsFiTZz If you want a wide angle lens, go for something like a 16mm, 17mm or 20mm Canon or Nikon via the EnCinema SLR lens adapter. Nice camera by the way!

  • Amazing video....sorry to say I already own a second hand twoneil dof adapter which I want to attach my older canon FD lens. I bought a converter since I need to go from FD to nikon. I was looking to get something without any glass inside. But the seller sold me a converter with glass in it. It seems to magnify. What do you recommend in this circumstance? do you see as a problem?

On a second note, what software did you use to create your graphics on your video? very cool...

  • @hughhjo Thanks for your interest. You'll definitely need the FD with glass...if not, then you wont be able to focus past a few feet. Thats the negative of working with FD lenses on EOS body or EOS mounts. We like old lenses like that, but the Nikon or M42 mounts lenses from the same era, do not use glass converters.

We used adobe premier and with a bit of motion tracking in after effects to make the graphics. Thanks for watching!

  • Hi, I have a Canon HV40 and I'd like to install a 35mm dof adapter or in.

I am a noob at this stuff, could you tell me EXACTLY what I need to buy? Like a shopping list :D I would really appreciate it!

  • @vtc31 You'll simply need the EnCinema adapter $199 (mention this posting for a discount on the adapter) and you'll need a Canon EOS or Nikon lens. That's it. We recommend a 50mm f1.8 lens to start with and that can range from $50 to $120 online or in some camera shops. Hope this helps!

  • @VidAtlantic Thanks so much this really helped!

  • Hi , I ve got a canon vixia hf200, and I wonder what do I need in order to look like your camcord,

  • @cjfalco1 You'd need an SLR lens (fast speed prime lens like the 50mm f1.8) and our EnCinema adapter. The lens hood isnt necessary, but can be found very cheap online.

  • is this adapter better then the twoneil one

  • @blastlaughs The EnCinema is smaller and more lightweight than any other adapter out there. Also, other adapters like that only allow you to use Nikon lenses. Because the EnCinema is made with the EOS mount, you can use pretty much any SLR lens via converter rings that only cost a few dollars. Canon, Nikon, Minolta, Pentax, Sony, Leica, Zeiss, etc.

  • what did you use to support the lens?

  • @shapeworkstudios1 Bogen telephoto lens support $69 from B&H Online. Its only needed if you have heavy zoom or long telephoto lenses. The adapter can hold typical prime lenses without any support.

  • does this flip the image rightside up too? or would i have to do that in post...

  • @shapeworkstudios1 Yes, it flips the image but its easy to fix in post. Some cameras have LCD screens that can flip the monitor image with a magnet to the back. Or most people use a small external LCD screen and flip that.

  • @VidAtlantic oh thanks!

  • will this still be able to stay in focus even with some camera movement?

  • @FilmsinaBottle yes, it will stay where you have your focus set. The only time it goes out of focus is if you unfocus the lens or if your subject walks out the field of focus.

  • @VidAtlantic all right, thanks

  • Hey,

I own a Panasonic NV DX100 camcorder. It's only a standard definition DV camera. What would the quality be like on this if I were to use a 35mm EF f2 lens? Thanks.

  • @jakebrookfilm actually it would look pretty amazing with a standard DV camera and a nice 35mm f2 lens. What size is the filter front diameter of the NVDX100?

  • @VidAtlantic the NVDX100 has a filter front diameter of 48mm, so I'll have to purchase a 48/49mm step up ring for the adapter to mount. Also, this camera does not have a macro setting; would this significantly affect the quality of the image?

  • @jakebrookfilm interesting. I would simply get a 49mm macro close up filter set to assist your camera in acheiving macro focus. Also this helps lessen vignetting by using these filters. We use them even though our Canons dont need the macro assistance.

  • Hey can you pleasee tell me what camcorder u were using?

  • @FilmingIsMyLife This video was shot using the Canon HF100 and the Camera in the video that was used for the Demo, is a Canon HV30. Both great cameras and very cheap now!

  • @VidAtlantic Oh ok . Thanks for the quick reply xD

  • 3 things, first my camcorder is 30mm, and the site only says 37mm, what to do? ( As I said before CX150, yet still site says 37mm D: )

In some videos there is some color fringing, is there any way to get rid of it?

And was this footage color corrected?

  • Comment removed

  • @g1234538 You would need a $2.99USD 30mm-37mm step up ring found on ebay. Then you can mount our 37mm sized adapter.

Yes, you can lessen fringing aka Chromatic Aberration and lessen vignetting using Magic Bullet Looks. They have a CA tool and a gradual exposure tool that work wonders.

Yes there was a bit of saturation and contrast added to this video. Thanks for your interest!

  • I read on Wikipedia that some adapters have motors to vibrate them to hide imperfections on the focusing screen in the adapter, can't you just use, like, high quality glass :D? Also is the slight change in color (like if I shot the scene on a normal camera the colors won't look so crazy, or brown, or blueish like your other videos.) from the focusing screen or the lens itself?

  • @g1234538 Actually we already use the highest level of quality focusing screen ground glass available. The colors probably come from the grading done in post. At least in this video and videos done around the same time we used Magic Bullet Looks to give an off color / kind of crazy look. The adapter wont really mess with the colors. It will slightly desaturate and lessen the contrast if anything, but thats never a bad thing. Thanks for your interest.

  • What is the most aggressive lens you have used with this setup? I might be ordering a Canon EF 28-80mm which weighs in at 7.6 ounces. I found a steal of a price online. The 50mm you use is 4.6. What are your thoughts and thanks.

  • @Champizfast Well if you have a lens support system you can pretty much use any lens. We sometimes will use the Bogen Manfrotto Telephoto lens support from B&H Online for $70. Its great!

But we regularly use a 17-50mm f2.8 zoom lens and it does NOT need any sort of support. Its not a super heavy lens, but its also not as lightweight as a prime lens. I hope this helps! Thanks!

  • @VidAtlantic Outstanding! Thanks. I was wondering what support you were using in the video. Its not on my list of things to get. I will be placing an order with you soon.

  • What do you think about using the adoroma lens FD to EOS adapter on ebay? Do you have any suggestions on a suitable adapter for the Canon Vixia HF M31 camcorder? I noticed that you used a canon in this vid.

  • @Champizfast If you purchase an FD to EOS converter to use older Canon FD lenses on our adapter, you will need the FD to EOS converter with the corrective glass to achieve infinite focus on your Canon FD lens. For the HF M31 I would definitely suggest the EnCinema 35mm adapter with either Canon or Nikon lenses. Thanks!

  • Hey, I just bout the HV30 and im looking to getting this kinda set up. But i dont want to buy something online and have it turn out to be the wrong thing sooooooo,,, could somebody possibly reply and give me the links/info on something like this. Sorry just gettin goin with this kinda stuff. Any help would be appreciated!

  • @CjDAudio Nice camera! We also use the HV30, its given us some of the best results!! You will simply need to select the 43mm filter option and thats it! It'll work right out of the box as long as you provide a Canon EOS or a Nikon lens.

  • ...What will happen if you touch the glass? :o

  • @g1234538 well pretty much the world will end!...just kidding. If you touch the glass and it gets dirty or smudged it will need to be replaces. But we dont permanently bond the glass in place so you can swap it out pretty easily.

  • would this work with the Canon 50mm Ef f/1.4 lens.. if so, will it be able to use the autofocus the lens has?

  • @PeteyVX12 Yes your 50mm EF lens will work great! No auto focus will be available though. It's all manual focus, which is what makes this all so much fun!

  • where can I buy Nikon to EOS converter? I have Nikon 50mm f1.8 AF .

  • @kabzooj88 on ebay or from us when you buy the kit.

  • 19,999 viewer!

  • how do you dismount the lens: i have a canon 50mm f1.8 and I can't find a button to dismount the dslr lens

  • @yeemeister94 pull the silver knob towards the video camera to release the lock switch and then twist it right off.

  • @VidAtlantic bahahaha i figured it out the second after i posted it. Thank you so much for responding though!

  • Thanx for you last suggestion, i bought HF100 PAL camcoder, i was thinking that it hav got 24frames setup bt it ain'y got it. can u plzz tel me wather this 35mm lense cn work wth that and how much it cost altogather and how long it will tke to get uk.. am waiting for ur reply thanks...

    faisal

  • @fmmira Hi, the HF100 should have 24p and 25p for PAL. I have the NTSC HF10 and it has both 24 and 30p. It's still a good camera wether you have 24, 25 or 30p.

The adapter cost $199 plus $30 shipping to UK. It takes about 1 week or 2 for delivery. I hope this helps! Thanks!

  • No words to thanks u, many thnks. once i wil get this cam i will request for that lens.

    thanks again..

  • @bcsmith1911 It is manual focus and yes the image does get flipped upside down like all 35mm adapters do, becuase you are putting 1 lens in front of the other.

  • @bcsmith1911 It is manual focus.

  • Am desprately looking for any cheapest camcoder which works with 35mm lense. can you please sugges me any cheapest camcoder to buy which work nice wth that adapter, so i can make my whole kit. i wil be very thankful to u ....

  • @fmmira Try going for a Canon HF100 or even the better the HV40. I found great deals on new cameras like that on craigslist! I hope this helps!

  • does it works in a sony hdr cx??? or do you know where i can find something like this for it

  • @Ness935 Yes, it works great with the Sony HDR CX cameras!

  • @VidAtlantic

yay, cause I have a CX150 and I'm thinking about getting this, what is a good lens that is compact yet not too pricey?

  • @g1234538 A great lens to start with is the Canon EF 50mm f1.8 New from $90 to $120. Or the Nikon (both old and new) 50mm f1.8. You can find those used on ebay for about $50.

  • will this work for canon HF s20 and if so what is so good about it what dose it do?

  • @JandjayProductions Yes, it works great with HF S20. It creates a shallow field of focus or Shallow depth of field by utilizing film / photo lenses giving it a vintage film look.

  • A DOF adapter lets me have better focus control? I obviously need a slr lens

  • will this work with the Canon XH-A1

  • @ned316 no, sorry the XH-A1 is not able to macro focus closely enough on the ground glass within the adapter. It may work with the help of diopter and macro close up filters though. In theory, any camera will work that way.

  • hi,

    really good job!

does the adapter work on Sony HDR HC1 ?

  • @fourorthree Yes the EnCinema 35mm dof adapter works great with the Sony HC1, Thanks!

  • hi,

    really good job!

does the adapter work on Sony HDR HC1 ?

  • The upside-down is trippy, but well worth the money saved.

  • Would this work with a Panasonic HDC-TM700 with the 46mm filter diameter?

  • @AlienMatej Yes, the EnCinema DOF adapter will work just fine with the Panasonic TM700 since it has the 46mm filter thread diameter. Thanks for your interest!

  • @VidAtlantic And do you ship to Europe too?

  • And is the image upside-down or the original? thanks

  • @AlienMatej Yes, we ship anywhere in the world. Thanks!

  • is this a vibrating adapter ... and what lens did you shoot this vid with??

  • @jodroboxes It is not a vibrating adapter. It is a static adapter. We used a Canon EF 50mm f1.8 lens to shoot this video. Thanks for watching!

  • @VidAtlantic thanx for the info!

  • i have one of this 35mm but how do you flip the movie back to normal? i have edited my movie as oreginal footage upside down.

  • @kingphet123 depending on what software you are using, you will simply need to rotate the image or clips by 180 degrees in the motion tabs or motion setting. I hope this helps.

  • how about sony fx1 ? :( I went to the site but I didnt find it

  • Would this work with a Sony HDR-XR105E? If it does I would certanly buy this!

  • @MattexFilms2006 Yes, The EnCinema adapter works great with the Sony SR105E since it has a30mm filter diameter mount. Email us if you are still interested for a special discount price. Thanks for your interest.

  • for the jvc everio mg330, do i need a separate lens, or can i just put on the 35mm adapter and start filming?

  • were did you by your 35mm adapter.

  • @cashimirs it was bought on the Vid-Atlantic / EnCinema Adapter website for $199. It's a great adapter!

  • nice

  • nice

  • does this work on a canon vixia hf 10

    ?? so many partsss

  • @gravymeatballs Yes it works great with the HF10. Nice camera by the way!!

  • @VidAtlantic lol no i dont have the vixia yet hahaa gotta save but discovered this JAG thing...i was actually going to save up and buy me a big digital camera but i guess this one is good enough as long has the lens....i have another question....I have a canon 50D camera DSLR, could i use the lens on that and attach to the JAG35 wen i get the VIXIA S10.,,.. or is my camera len only for camera

  • so i own a Nikon 50mm 1.4d lens.. Will i just need the EnCinema35 Adapter (with nikon converter) after I buy a canon Vixia HF R100 and be ready to go right out the box??

Also, will these lens work also?

    - Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G

    - Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Wide Angle AF Lens

Thanks! im kinda new to this and really want to start working with camcorders.

  • @DJMPULSEONLINE Thanks for your interest! Yes your 50mm f1.4 will work with our adapter with the Nikon conveter, right out of the box, nothing else needed. Do you mean Vixia HF S100? If so yes, it works just fine.

Yes, those other lenses will work but they are a bit slow so you will need lots of light or shoot mainly outdoors in bright daylight.

Let us know if you need anything else. Thanks again!

  • hey there, would this work with a canon xm1?

    many thanks,

    J

  • Forgot to add something....

So by using this adapter I will be able to make the background blurred out? I'm quite new to this. Haha. Also do you ship to Australia?

  • Yes, thats the main effect of this adapter is to create selective focusing and making your subjects pop by blurring out the background and or foreground. And yes, we ship to Australia regularly. I hope this info helps... Thanks for your interest in the EnCinema 35 adapter!

  • I'm really interested in getting one of these. Will it work on my Sony hdr-xr200? Also will the Canon EF 50mm F1.8 II lens work okay with it and would a converter be needed?

  • Yes, it works great with Sony hdr-xr200 since it has the 30mm filter thread size. And yes, the 50mm f1.8 is the recommended lens to start with. No additional converters are needed. It will work as is out of the box with that lens and your camera.

  • Is there any visual diffrence from other 35mm adapters? Because if not, then why don't alll 35mm adapters be as small as yours lol

  • Yeah, the other 35mm adapters usually use home made focusing screens and can dull the image. We use a very rare glass but it's the sharpest available for any static 35mm adapter. And I'm not sure why they're all made so much bigger. We've figured out a way to keep it small and compact. Thanks!

  • Thank you!

  • Hi!. Will my JVC GZHD5 work with this?

  • Yes, it will work with the JVC HD5. We've had some great results with these JVC HD series cameras! Thanks for your interest!

  • i live in romania but i want to order this! on canon 500d works?

  • Hmm, I'm not sure what you mean as the Canon 500D already takes Canon EOS lenses.

  • Great! When you do please let me know. I will def get one from you for my A1s.

  • ok thanks. I was hoping I could use it. Are you by any chance working on a model that would allow use of the adapter in the bigger cams like mine or the HVX? Thanks for the response.

  • Yes, we are hoping to have some ready in the coming weeks.

  • Will it work with the Canon XH A1s?

  • Sorry the XHA1 is to big and doesnt have the macro focus capability.

  • I´m using a Canon XM-1 with a 58mm lens.

how is this 35mm adapter going to make my fotage better?

I dont get this thing with the adapters. but is it because you can use those optics you show in the video? and how can that improve me camera? just curious =)

  • Actuall it wont work with the XM1 but the adapter allows you to use photo lenses and gives you selective focus by utilizing a very shallow depth of field, like you see in 35mm movies. Video cameras can not do this with their tiny little imagers. The EnCinema 35mm adapter has a focusing screen that acts like an imager the size of a 35mm film camera image or frame.

  • will it fit on the HF20

  • Hi there, looks great to have. will this work with SONY HDR XR500? Im already having conon 350d camera with some EOS lens.

  • Hi, Yes according to the specs of the XR500 The EnCinema 35 adapter will work just fine. Thanks for your interest!

  • if you dont mind me asking...what kind of camcorder is this in the video???

  • The camcorder is an HV30, and the video was filmed using an HF100 with the EnCinema 35 adapter.

  • Hey there!

Will this work on my Sony HDR-CX100? I'm really interested in getting this, but I'm not sure if it's gonna work.

Sorry, I'm pretty bad at this. :P

    Thanks in advance.

  • Thanks for your interest in the EnCinema 35mm DOF adapter..Yes, it will work just fine with the Sony CX100 as that camera has a 30mm front filter diameter as well as macro focus capabilities. Thanks again!

  • Thanks for the response.

    I might concider buying this!

  • Great Stuff. I have a Canon hg20 but will my screen flip upside down for shooting and if so how do i fix that? I am thinking of upgrading in the future but wanted to know is there any real difference between the hv30 to the hv40? Thank You

  • The screen will be upside down when using any 35mm adapter (unless you use the heavy and expensive flip modules). You can use an external monitor and flip that upside down so that the footage is then viewed normal. You will still need to flip in post editing, but its very very easy. Its also somewhat easy to get used to shooting upside down footage.

  • also, forgot to mention, there is a little difference in the HV30 versus the HV40. I like them both and I have the HV30, but the HV40 shoots true 24P, which is very nice! The other cameras arent true 24P as they use a pull down method while shooting a t 29.97 frames. Thanks again for your interst!

  • Hi there can you help me i have a sony hdr-sr10 and i have a eos efs lens... can this work on my videocam? Thanks

  • Yes, the EnCinema adapter is all that you'll need. You have a compatible camera and EOS lens. The SR10 is great and has an easy flip method.

  • OK can you help me to find the kits ???

  • look on the vid-atlantic site, its for sale there.

  • hi how are you how can i make one for a canon xl2 can you explain me? please thank you very much

  • for the camera, do you need manual focus?

    please respond.

  • yes, you do need manual focus.

  • hey dude i have a Sony HDR-UX5 i was wondering can i get an adaptor from you? and how much will it cost?

  • Hi Stingrn, yes according to the specs of your HDR-UX5 it has a 37mm filter thead and will work fine. Thanks for your interest!

  • Hi, I am going to be buying a HV30. So all I would need is a 35 mm Encinema adapter and a EOS lense, such as the Canon EF 50mm f1.8 lens? Is the Nikon to EOS converter and the Canon FD mount needed too? I am new to this and and am learning about adapters and lenses and just need to know what I would need for a good film look. Thanks.

  • Hi, Yes, that is all that you'll need...your camera, our adapter and an EOS lens. You wont have to worry about the Nikon or FD converter...that is only needed for use with Nikon and FD lenses. Thanks for checking us out!

  • But isn't the adapter a 35mm? Doesn't it have to be 50mm in order to fit a 50mm lense?

  • sick, What video editing software do you use.

  • Thanks! Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere CS4 both with Magic Bullet looks plugin.

  • Comment removed

  • i have JVC GZ-HD7, and i need a 35mm adapter, that goes with my Nikon lenses, whats you recommendations?

  • Halfraid, You'll need our EnCinema 46mm filter diameter version of the adapter, a +1, +2 and +4 macro close up filter kit since it is a JVC everio lens and a Nikon to EOS converter.

  • how about canon hg20 wat do i need? and how much will it all cost?

  • HG20 works great..nothing else needed. Just your camera, the Encinema adapter and a fast EOS lens. $199 for adapter and $85 for a Canon EF 50mm f1.8 lens.

  • hey hows it going? i have a Canon VIXIA HF 200, will the adapter fit the camera? if i can get more info on wr i could buy it if it does fit it? thanks

  • Yes it works great with the HF200. Check the vid-atlantc web site for all other info and where to purchase.

  • I have a JVC Everio GZHD30 (43mm thread). If I buy an adapter from you guys and a 50mm f/2 lens, will I need anything else to hook it up? I read on your website that JVC cameras need extra rings or something?

  • The JVC camera lenses are a bit too far outset so you will need to use an additional macro close up filter kit with a +1, +2 and +4 in the kit. (It might be simplified by using a +10 or combination of, but I have not experimented with this yet). This can be found for around $20 or less on ebay and other places. Thanks for your interest!

  • Alright. Thanks for the quick response. I will be looking into this.

  • I am just getting into buying a video camcorder and I have been doing some research on the Canon VIXIA HV30, I just wanna know if the EnCinema 35mm Adapter will work on it..

  • Yes the HV30 is my camera of choice right now, infact that is an HV30 in this video but it was shot with an HF100. Check some of our recent clips, like the Rehoboth Beach clip to see the adapter in action on the HV30.

  • hey there.

i have a sony dcr-sr35. i think it has a 30mm threaded lens. do you know if i can use this adapter on my camera?

  • Im using a CANON VIXIA HF S10, can I use this adapter? WOnt the image flip due to the adapter?

  • right now it only works with smaller cameras but we are working on a pro version for larger lenses like the HFS series.

Also, yes it does flip the image upside down as well.

  • So if I buy me a 50mm Canon FD f1.8 I'm gonna need a FD to EOS converter? What's the price range in this? Will this be all I'll need?

  • Well nevermind that last comment I realised that yes lol. Do you recommend a 50mm Pentacon f1.8 lens? This won't need a converter right? Thanks

  • Yeah it may still need a converter if it doesnt have an EF or EOS mount. The EnCinema 35 is assembled to take EF and or EOS mounts without any converters. Thanks for your interest!

  • Thank you for your answer. I'm wondering if the adapter will work in an old Sony DCR (such as mine, a DCR DVD304). The front ring has a 30mm diameter. I suppose it should work aswel then?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Yes, according to the specs of the DCR-DVD304, it should work just fine. We have the 30mm step ring to make it fit as well.

  • ok i have been researching your product and i have no idea weather it is vibrating or not??

  • It isn't.

  • it is a static adapter

  • Cool! Will this work with my Panasonic DVX100B? Thanks!

  • Could you recommend a certain kind of 35mm EOS lens what I have to buy. Or send me the link (perfered).

    Thanks

  • I'll send you message as we can't post links on these responses, but a lens that we recommend is a Canon EF 50mm f1.8 It sells for $85 brand new!

  • Nice yob ! Achromat Yes or No ?

    Thanx in front .

  • Thanks! No Achromat. It is not needed in this adapter.

  • Awesome adapter for anyone interested in amateur film making! Highly recommended for anybody trying to reproduce "the film look" of a real Hollywood movie without spending thousands on some of the other 35mm adapters out there.

  • Thanks for the kind words and support of this product as we continue to grow and make it better!
