1 dislike wtf? OH nevermind it must be an impotent Harley rider. Thanks again LeDude. Very helpful info. Screw the dealer do it yourself. Like the saying: "If you want it done right, do it yourself!"
@McNighthawk750 Use the same oil you use in the engine compartment.... I run a full Synthetic oil in both the engine and transmission, Shell Rotella 5W-40. Any oil meeting the OEM requirements will work.
Just serviced my Burgman 400 using your instructions - spark plug, final drive oil and CVT filter (regular oil and filter change was self-explanatory). Thank you! Just bought a used executive and plan the same. Couple of questions - do valves ever actually go out of spec to the point where adjustment is needed? And also, where do I find a small 3/8 drive ratcheting torque wrench - Sears has nothing like it. Thanks!!!
@dalesworld those that have checked their valves have seldom reported major out of spec numbers requiring major adjustments.... it's a prudent thing to do every 25/50k miles..
Harbor Freight has great torque wrenches at great prices, I have three of them and they seem very accurate too.
@LeDude00 Thanks...the amount of disassembly and suggested frequency of the checks was starting to make me wish I had bought a Silverwing instead (owners report 100K miles with just oil and spark plug changes). But after riding both the Burgman 650 and the Silverwing my mind was made up. I'll check Harbor Freight. Thanks again!!

My bike mechanic suggests using Suzuki engine oil for the X-mission. What are your thoughts? Thanks for superb vids !
