please help me, I have a single speaker with no wires, amps or anything. just the terminals ( - ) and ( + ). and i connected it with my ipod with the AUX wires. BUT i really want to know, how do i give it a boost? sorta like adding a battery... how would i be able to attach a car battery on the circuit?
Hey. Try what I do! I've been doin simple tricks for a long time like this. He only used the extra speaker. However, If you take a speaker system like that, cut the power cable, then put the appropriate ends to a 9V battery, it works very well. Volume control may be up a bit more than if plugged in, but still can be very loud! I used to carry one around in my school in a Gameboy Advance case. I can make 'em very small now! Just using the parts out of the main speaker, and a RC car battery. Try!
@lennartkns this is real i always have done it but the only propblem i always faced is the volume its very low but it works on every single speaker iv'e ever tried
You forgot the amp and the battery. Amp will make it not sound lame and battery will make it portable, meaning no external power source such as plugging it into and electrical socket.
@a2ramirez you are so right just plug it in and if you dont have a power outlet just get pc speakers that dont need power lmao this video was worthless haha
so wtf was the point of that? now you have One speaker instead of two, and no cable. whats your next video going to be? how to take out your motorcycle engine and mount it on your bicycle? It would be far simpler to mount both speakers onto a piece of wood, and if your concerned with battery life, sever the connecting wire between the two speakers and put in an on/off switch between them so you can use both or only one speaker.
IF U WANT BETTER SOUND LISSEN TO THIS ________ U TAKE UR OLD PC SPEAKERS AND U TAKE THE POWER CORD CUT IT HALF WAY PUT ETHER 1 OR 2 9V BATT ON IT AND TAPE IT UP AND WALA U HAVE A BETTER SOUNDING AND ALLOT LOUDER SYSTEM LOOK AT MY VIDEO ON MY ACOUNT
IF U WANT BETTER SOUND LISSEN TO THIS ________ U TAKE UR OLD PC SPEAKERS AND U TAKE THE POWER CORD CUT IT HALF WAY PUT ETHER 1 OR 2 9V BATT ON IT AND TAPE IT UP AND WALA U HAVE A BETTER SOUNDING AND ALLOT LOUDER SYSTEM
@ ralphison, yeah and what you can do too, is instead of soldering an ipod jack to it, you can solder a sterio input-jack for a guitar on it. And there you have it, you very own guitar smplifier! :) that's what I did, and it works fine, i've put the speakers in small wooden boxes and the controls too, then stacked it, like a marshall amp and then spray-painted it. I'll put a vid on youtube later this week. :)
better if you used both speakers and used the built in amplifier of that speaker.. that thing uses 9v power supply.. buy 9v rechargable battery and connect it on the DC in of that amplifier.. much louder, won't harm any audio sources. :D hope it helps :D
You know that for feeding a speaker you need a amplifier, don't you ?! Connecting a speaker directly to the sound source will damage it (your mp3 player in this case).
@advsoft It will not damage your music player sines it is just doing the same thing it would hooked up to a amp but it is still idiotic for the fact that the level of output from the jack will be pitiful at best, I have made many portable speakers, one even with a sub-woofer. this is sad in a way because he has everything he needs right in the other speaker box... (at least if it's DC powered)
@advsoft actually thats not entirely true. I have a back pack with 10 speakers connected to 2 audio cables and used an audio splitter to lower the power and It hasnt damaged my IPod. I have been doing this for 3 years, I know what I'm doing.
@advsoft seems you are foooool! if the speaker has the correct impendance the mp3 player/i pod/ whatever won´t get damage, and of course, this speaker has more watts than the ones of the mp3 player output
Woukd YOU ALL please STOP sending me comments claiming 'no advsoft, it won't damage your mp3' you dumb dumb dumb-asses ! It will and I believe in this!! When the source provides different sound (ohms, wats, volts etc) it always damages!!! Not now, but using crap like this for a while WILL DECREASE it's amplifier FOREVER... MORRONS. Why don't you connect a 4ohm 200w speaker in to your 16ohm 20w amplifier ..... ? why ? /// excuse my bad language but you deserve it
dude why take that shit apart they make cables that go from av cables into headset jack on top of that...you could have cut the wire that it originally had and used the wires for that...duh
For all you fuckin idiots out there who don't know what this would be used for here's an example. Say you wanna listen to a music device but it only uses head phones build this thing store it in your bag or where ever plug your musical device onto it know your jammin out loud without using dinky headphones! Btw it's like a portable speaker.
tou should use a amplifier... for example TDA7050 or LM386. There are very simply amplifiers and you don't have possiblity to blow player amplifier...
i have Bridge TDA7050 and it sounds nice :) voltage range for this amp is 1,6V to 6V
how ironic that when i found a broken at home, I wanted to make it a portable speaker.. I searched for videos and I found this.. we have the same old pc speaker.. lol.. :D it would be very easy for me to follow instruction.. thanks..
hhhm. Okay. So I can take a part perfectly good ,working computer speakers that I might need and turn them into a smaller, tackier, piece of crap version of the same thing. good idea genius.
@19minibowser90 try squeezing the mint tin amp in to make it louder coz you seemed to have a lot of space left inside and people are asking how to make it louder
ok first off, learn to solder, twist and tape is the worst form of electrical connections, anyone else watching this vid do not twist and tape! solder and heatshrink. Secondly, learn some basic grammar, the term " unconnecting" doesnt exist, what your thinking of is " disconnecting", that is all
in order to make a compact amp to fit inside the speaker you would have to get a bunch of tranzisters rezisters and electrical filters.. but hay,you can be extremly getough and hack the amp from the master speaker
You could find out how many volts the Mp3 player puts out and attach a battery (Preferably add an on off switch) and before where the batter taps into the line put some volt regulators so the power won't go from the speaker to the player. I'm not an electrical engineer. But it might work.

@GoldenSlurpee Yes, if you take appart both speakers you will notice an amp in the one that has a 220W plug. Cut the 220W cable and the little square reducer thingy off, and then you attach your batteries
I just tried it 2 weeks ago! Yes, if you open the speakers that has the controls, you can find a thermal fuse or a transformer located on the A/C wire. I found out that out that the speakers I was had uses 8.5 volts. Just use an 9 Volt battery to power up the amplifier.
or buy a cheap crappy cordless drill, hook them battries up 2 them, firend has 4 battreys lasts ages n is pretty loud ( thier 12v each battrey could of got 18v but didnt )
i have the same problem, so i made it to where it can hook up to 3 speakers, 2 built in speakers, and my tv in one headphone jack... portable still, if i get a video camera i can show you guys...
noob... use a hella va lotta resistors for that NOT to blow up your speakers, but dont worry, ive done worse, but it was on purpose... in the OMFG BOOOM catagory.
the way u make it sound louder is to get a portable speaker from a store take out stock speaker then hook pc speaker to portable. then the sound is going to be great and loud
hey you can do this with MTX 22' jackhammer!!!!
