Glad to see you've been able to make a high quality video! Though, the framerate reduction used annoys me a bit, it can't be helped... unless you want to make your own 60fps video hosting service or something, heh.
The 3D background looks great, reminds me of the level before the horse-boss in Alien Soldier. One thing you could do to make it even more 3D is to make the foreground tiles also 3D, you see the side of it except when you walk right under/above it. They did this on the first level of Adventures of Batman & Robin.
@KaskelotenZebbe The first level of that game didn't show anything at the sides of things... that area was shadowed so much that it'd appear black so you wouldn't notice.
@sikthehedgehog Would still be interesting to see. Sometimes less is more. And the enemies, obstacles and coins should still provide enough variation to spice things up.
Wow, Sik, you're so talented!

Wow, this looks great! I'm interested in SMD dev myself. Are you intending to release an actual cart?

Was this done on Sega genesis hardware? If it is, then the graphics are incredible!

Those sound effects are making me feel wonderfully nostalgic for old PC-speaker-using games.

Excellent work! I really love the sense of depth provided by the reflective 3D floor.

This looks pretty good.
What program did you use to make the game?

@SpeedyLizzard14 Asm68k and z80-asm for assemblying and some custom tools to convert BMPs to tiles and such.

@sikthehedgehog I wonder what Yoshi's Cookie looked like in the Mega Drive version?

I wonder how it would look with the color of the red tiles and signs changed into the purple colors of the background grid / trees ?

@Christuserloeser Probably it'd look much less colorful. =/

@sikthehedgehog Yeah, but maybe this wouldn't be a bad thing in this stage...? Sometimes less is more.
And the enemies, obstacles and items would still add some colors. :-)
