Obviously you're ignorant of the ongoing war between the health foods industry and the FDA, which is controlled by all the money of big business, big farming, the AMA, and big pharmaceuticals. Big business has a vested interest in keeping the public dumb and vulnerable to illness. The drug industry has everything to lose if the public turns to health foods to cure and to prevent illness, instead of doctors and their medications. See organicconsumers(dot)org & responsibletechnology(dot)org.
Control the people by FEAR and FOOD. THINK ! It was used to take down the Indians... LOL,, your next .. Your questions are redundant, your conscience already answered these. Next guns, earth changes !!, riots, martial law and all your freedoms... LOL, ironic poetic justice... what ever made you think you were all special ? If your parents are murderers what makes you think they won't kill you ? I imagine what ever his name will soon become dictator of the United States. Future = London now.
um, this happened almost a year ago... unless the exact same raid happened again. It happened in October of 2010, so you seem to have missed the boat on this one.
I agree with you about milk. No other animal on this planet drinks milk past infancy, let alone the milk of another animal. I will use milk for cooking and cereal, but we don't drink milk. I have never had a taste for it anyway.
"No other animal on this planet drinks milk past infancy......"
So what? No other animal has explored space, does that mean we shouldn't?
No other animals cook their food with fire, does that mean we should not cook our food? What about streets, vaccinations, poetry? All out the window because other animals don't do it?
I normally agree with proteanview, but his points against milk don't hold up here.....
milk is great for growing children. the calcium is good for them, as is the fat which is essential for healthy neurological development. i know, everyone screams at the wrd "fat" but actually people tend to get obese because they eat to much sugar.
I think the argument that humans are the only species to drink milk past weening looses it's effectiveness when you think of all the other things that humans do that other species don't... like put chemicals in our drinks and foods. I stopped buying a commercial sugary cereal for my kids the day I dropped some on the floor and my dog wouldn't eat it, and she isn't a picky eater believe me. There is something wrong with our food system and we all need to wake up.
"Two gay guys go to jail for holding hands" ha ha ha, sounds like the beginning of a "priest and a rabbie walk into a bar" kind of joke...yea I know, that has nothing to do with the video, mmmm it must be my warped sense of humour.
Very interesting points: human milk for humans (and only as babies) and yea, i wonder why you never hear about raids on Monsanto.
Another thought provoking video as usual proteanview
Yes I like regulation on food. Just look back in history regarding food content alone and you will be glad someone not involved with the profit in the food you buy is watching it and has the power to send in people to stop it.
Dairy bad? I think the rule of chemistry applies. The poison is in the dose.
What happened in CA in its entirety... Sounds "odd".
Hey Brother,...It seems that humans are the only animal that A) Consumes the lactation of another animal. B) The only animal that consume lactation (of any origin) into adulthood. So, milk is not a natural food.
Sickness from fruit and veg. is due to contamination compost, chemfertilizer, pesticides. Let nature do it and utilise the fruits and vegetables thereof. Get used to smaller yields, smaller sized fruits and veg. I am becoming a "localist" opposed to "globalists" Revolt in the garden.
I’m a raw vegan. Does mainstream pasteurized dairy have warning labels on it alerting the consumer of Posilac (a Monsanto product given to cows to increase their milk production) or the multiple types of antibiotics used to reduce mastitis (a condition induced by Posilac which creates puss in the milk) or that since it has been pasteurized it’s missing vital enzymes which makes the milk less nutritious. Maybe all milk could be labeled with the dangers. Just a thought.
It's all about taking away our freedoms and it's no coincidence that Obama hired a former Monsanto lobbyist to be the food control czar. They are just following Hitler's plan but most people don't know history repeats itself.
@HigherPlanes So you want business to just run amok and fuck all of us over? Dude, you SERIOUSLY need to take a look at history and what happens when government does not intervene at all.
@crackerkiller89 If you're talking about anything like our fascist government, then I know what happens when they intervene- plan locally, fuck globally. Is there anything else I need to know?
It is a raw food store, if it was falsely advertised as completely safe and pasteurized let the government tear them a new asshole, but at this store you know what you are getting and you know the very slight risks.
@PainterofYou You are out of your mind. How did the human species survive for the 50,000 years up until this asinine "statute" was passed without any need for "permission" to grow and sell food?
You do realize that up until about 70-80 years ago, most people raised and butchered their own livestock without any problems, right?
The government is RAPING YOU and you are screming "HARDER, HARDER".
You are mentally ill. Please go live in North Korea or Saudi Arabia if you enjoy oppression.
CDC says: "more than 800 people in the United States have gotten sick from drinking raw milk or eating cheese made from raw milk since 1998"
well, that is not exactly a terrifying statistic. just slap a warning label on it.
ive seen warning labels on damned alfalfa sprouts. anything unprocessed can potentially contain harmful bacteria. thats planet earth for you. risk the sprouts or eat "safe" twinkies and kool-aid? (theres no warning... they must be safe)
Ok To answer the question of is milk good for you? Yes. As for is raw bilk good for you? That depends on who is being asked, The FDA claimes it is not however they are wrong. I do agree it needs screaned for hazards however people like my sister can not drink the pasterized crap wich is what the FDA wants us to drink, there is an enzime that is removed during the pasturization prosess her body needs to digest the milk. Most of us have this enzime naturly.
I believe the biggest offense is that the product isn't going through the economic system. From what I understand, the same treatment was done to the indigenous people during early colonialism.
I believe it's a good thing to have a regulatory process that has as its underlying mission, the best interests of the people, at heart. I'm not for just "trusting" people, because there is a segment of people who are intrinsically greedy, and while this semi-pschopathic subset is fairly small, they do - unfortunately - gravitate to "business" to selling shit. Their goal is money. They will bypass healthy measures if it interferes with profit.
@slewofdamascus keeping things clean and transparent is one thing. Using force to limit the choices of intelligent free people is completely different.
This is pure intimidation - and it's going to backfire, I hope. Maybe all these "progressives" will begin to see how BIG GOVERNMENT operates - not in the best interests of people - but in the interest of the CORPORATE-MONOPOLIES, who happen to write ALL LAWS, which serve to protect whom exactly??? You don't have to be a paranoid conspiracy theorist (like me) to see the underlying element - the only thing "spoiled" is the rotten, overgrown, in-organic government.
Probably there is a best way to eat, and stay clear of central processing. A few years ago people would kill and eat a chicken. Just because we don't do it now doesn't mean we couldn't. Don't you belive in the judgement of central control on all things? The way things are going, Armageddon would be a blessing, even if it is "suit job Armageddon". This way; suits would be the cause of their own Armageddon.
Status consideration is the basis of modern living. Only problem is life on the outside is beginning to emulate life on the inside. Maybe i could get some authoritatve type to shoot me to death as essential business. Maybe this will work: Energy Jesus would say "Thou shalt not chuck the heat in a power generation op". That should at least be good for some hard time. It could be like retirement with death by brutality. Maybe we can get crucifixion back.
you dont have the full story. who knows if there was some thing that was in the store that was illegal. Here in canada we are not aloud to grow poppy seed plants because you can make herrion from a poppy seed plant. It also gives a positive test result in a drug or alchol test. This is extreemly hard to prove that it was do to a poppy seed getting stuck in you teeth before the test. In the city I live in (over 2 million) they have band all poppy seed products... (for me a gardener this sucks)
If they sell you poison, they are liable. If they lie to you, they're liable. Short of that, a consumer is responsible for knowing what they're buying. It's like signing a contract without reading it. Do we make laws so that we don't have to read what we agree to? (don't answer that, Nancy Pelosi)
Raids of natural food stores by the government for a while now. It's not about what's right, its about limiting the choices people have for healthy non GMO food.
Pastuer created his process because people were DYING from "raw" foods like milk. This whole paranoid "organic" movement doesn't realize that we created this methods so your food won't kill you or make you sick. We have been drinking cows milk for around 10000 years, and there is no solid evidence against it. No one will listen to vegan and vegetarian health studies that tell you not to do it, but that's the paranoia.
It just gets funnier. There was a great story in Florida in the late 90s where a major dairy chain was caught using a Monsanto growth hormone in all their dairy herds, a substance banned in Canada(as dangerous to human health)banned in the EU(same reason) Monsanto threatened the journalists, the tv station etc. TV station tried to bribe journos not to publish the story anywhere. End of the day suit and counter suit went to supreme court. Winner? Monsanto. Growth hormone is (still in your milk)
human milk for human babies,..cow milk for cow babies,,,humans drinking cows milk are cow babies..! no wonder people cant think straight nowadays!..get over milk people adults should be eating real food..!
There is unfortunately a fuzzy line between "dangerous" and "potentially dangerous". My first reaction is of course a negative one - dang that govn'ment, interfering with private business! On the other hand, there are food safety rules that exist for a reason, and when I go to a store, I ASSUME that they're actually complying. Just like restaurants are shut down if they have mice pooping in the food.
So.. I don't know. Maybe it's bad, maybe it's not, but it's not obvious.
The idea that we shouldn't be drinking the milk of other animals seems completely intuitive, doesn't it? And yet, lacto-ovo vegetarians have the lowest risk for heart disease.
Why? How could this be?
Well, way back in time, when man first domesticated goats & cattle, most people were lactose intolerant. But it was an ice age, food was scarce. They consumed the dairy anyway...(continued)
...Those who were highly lactose intolerant died off. Only those who could metabolize the animal milk survived and genes for extreme lactose TOLERANCE spread throughout the human population.
Unwittingly, we genetically modified ourselves to drink animal milk. But not pasteurized animal milk. Raw animal milk.
That said, I still don't drink it. I think it's gross.
isssh, the old "milk is for baby" fallacy, you know why mature cows don't drink milk? because they can't, you why I drink it, because I can, pour milk to your dog and watch how fast he down it, there no such think as milk for baby only animal rule, drink the milk if you have it
@quaxk women produce milk for humans. cows for calves. women only produce milk once they have babies... because milk is for babies and human milk is for human babies. doesn't matter if you like it or you drink it. there's a reason milk doesn't just show up w/o pregnancy and that it naturally goes away as a baby is weaned. just because we can, adults aren't supposed to drink milk. we certainly aren't supposed to be drinking a cow's when women provide it for humans.
@igotsissues Totally agree. It's amazing how many bizarre practices we have as people that we simply don't realize because they've become so commonplace.
@igotsissues I'm a vegan myself, yet I think these arguments don't hold the slightest bit of water.
"Adult animals don't feed on milk." — It's instinctual. That would kill their offsprings and wipe their species.
"Only humans drink other species' milk." — Well, only humans have learned how to domesticate and milk cows, but I've yet to see a cat walking away from a bowl of milk. And what about cross-species adoptions? It's common practice in animal shelters and can also be found in nature.
@igotsissues In the course of evolution, organisms have developed the ability to feed on as many sources of nutrients as possible that are available in their environment. Is the bear "not supposed" to eat honey because it's bee food?
@igotsissues What is this based on? "supposed"? Like there is some morality to milk? Or do you mean biologically? Humans evolved to be able to drink milk. My god I can't believe shit like "Milk is for babies! therefore humans can't drink it lol" is an argument. No evidence. Just suppositions.
@igotsissues I've been drinking milk my entire life, and I will continue to. Sure, some sort of unhealthy aspect of the milk might kill me some day. It's also far more likely that drinking this milk is providing me with a good source of calcium. But you know what else could kill me? Getting hit by a bus. Undercooking a slab of steak. Eating bad vegetables. Smoking crack. Getting the message yet? Btw, exactly who are you to tell me what I am and am not "supposed" to drink
Milk has nutrients necesary for the correct develop of the baby.... get it ?? therefore is not something intended exclusively for a baby, but rather something that helps him get healthy, and as time goes we still need those nutrients, proteins and enzymes.
@mikeelman Yep. Milk has nutrients for baby. That's why mothers produce it when they have a baby and not throughout teen years. When we're no longer babies, we get nutrients from many other foods. That's why it's no longer produced. No reason to start nursing a cow's milk that's meant for calves. Even cows don't drink cow milk. Only calves do because they only need those nutrients as a baby. THINK!
That is not relevant at all if they stop producing milk since the baby has grown up, my point is milk is healthy... it's a great source of nutrients even for adults, don't you get it, is food that can be ingested with many different benefits for EVERYONE, that's it, besides, there is a huge diference between raw an industrial milk, and now there is no more health thanks to monsanto, people are losing their freedom to choose now.
C0nc0rdance put up an interesting video on raw milk and foods about the health risks.
I think the government has 2 major responsibilities. The first it to provide information, warning lables and such. Asking someone if they're lying is a meaningless question. The second responsibility is to reflect the actual cost of the product. If a dog food company snuck in something that made my dog sick it is the companies responsibility.
The government doesn't have control over what I put into my body. They are just trying to make us think that they do.
I love raw dairy, and will do whatever it takes to get it. It is a very healthy food, especially when cultured. Humans have been consuming dairy for thousands of years, and it is a more ethical source of the animal nutrients that we need. Would you rather milk a cow/goat year after year, or kill and eat it and keep having to repeat the process?
Abstain from cow-teat juice all you want, Protean. But you are being WAY TOO "even handed" about this situation. These "authorities" are nothing more than petty gangsters.
And "permits" to sell unprocessed plant and animal products??? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?
Wake up, people. WAKE THE FUCK UP.
YOU ARE BEING OPPRESSED.
When the "authorities" are treating you like a criminal over natural things that God put on this Earth for you to enjoy...
@youngn420 "Mother Nature" if you prefer a secular feminist view of the situation. Same difference. The good Earth grows things that are there for us to partake of freely. These BEASTS know as "authorities" are committing crimes against both man and nature.
@1776Matthew When people start yelling "WAKE THE FUCK UP" that's usually my cue to laugh my ass off at the very next thing they say. You are no exception.
@jussts So armed thugs raiding organic farmers is normal and fine to you, right? Do you have any idea how many laws (that's LAWS, NOT "statutes", "by-laws", "codes", etc.) those "police" are violating?
Farmers get "taken down" like cocaine king-pins, and that is a laughing matter to you?
You're not laughing at ME, dipshit. You're laughing at CORRUPTION.
@1776Matthew get your permit and you won't be raided. same goes for driver license. do you drive w/o one? then this guy shouldn't sell raw milk w/o his license. it's simple.
Not trying to convince you to drink anything, much less raw milk. Besides, regardless what we eat or drink, we all die sometime anyway. So, maybe it's an issue that's more about the freedom to make our own choices of what we eat and drink and how we live... and die.
See Which do you choose - Raw Certified Milk versus Pasteurized Milk @ realmilk (dot) .com
Raw milk is better for you than pasteurized because the enzymes are still activated. Massai tribes in africa ate nothing but raw milk and cow blood and would kick the average westerners ass in any health comparison that could be named. i can go buy ten bottles of vodka if i like and drink the lot and the government doesn't give a toss - they don't care about your health. I think raiding a health store proves that. This action was taken to intimidate and control people.
@weeearthlings The enzymes you are referring to are destroyed by your stomach acid. There is NO difference in how your body handles the same denatured protein. The only difference between pasteurized milk and unpasteurized milk is that it's safer for you to consume.
@weeearthlings True. In any case, how can the government be trusted to know what's best for our health? (Assuming they cared about health, which they don't.) Even the experts frequently disagree on which diets, habits and treatments are more/less effective for living well. Why would a government bureaucrat with no profit motive be any wiser? The government shouldn't be involved in deciding on nutrition, healthcare, or any other private activity.
@weeearthlings That is utter nonsense. Raw milk is the cause of most of the milk-related hospitalizations in the US every year. If raw milk is better for you, then you probably think we're better off without vaccines too because it's somehow more "natural". The process is there to kill harmful bacteria. You can buy vodka because unless you drink bottles of it, you won't land in the hospital. If you drink raw milk, you have a much better chance of that, even used "as directed".
Feel free to take your gov't mandated vaccines like a good sheeple.
Vaccine sales are a major cash cow for big pharma..do your part
to ensure max profits for them.
Czech newspapers are questioning if the shocking discovery of vaccines contaminated with the deadly avian flu virus which were distributed to 18 countries by the
American company Baxter were part of a conspiracy to provoke a pandemic.
@eaterofclams Please read about germ theory. Every once in awhile, the government mandates things because not mandating it would be moronic. If you want to go back to the days when millions died from preventable diseases, be my guest, but don't do it near me. Your tinfoil hat won't stop you from getting smallpox. A smallpox vaccine will.
Even here in Wisconsin, the dairy state, we can't get raw milk legalized. To me it should be legal, but also then labelled properly. That Rawesome was a member based group and people had to join, and sign papers saying they know it's raw and there may be risks. That should be adequate due diligence.
In a starving world we need food options. Milk can become cheese and butter too. Humans have been consuming it for millenia. With hungry and starving people it seems wrong to confiscate & destroy
Americans fucked up when they allowed Government to dictate what they can and cannot ingest into their own body (Prohibition, Drug War, Controlled Substance Act). "The Man" hoodwinked the masses with propaganda and fear mongering, making people believe these laws were for their own good. Little did the sheep know that those laws were the catalyst for the loss of true personal freedom. Now we cry cause they are taking our vegetables and raw milk. Sorry folks, ya can't get those rights back!
Was this in Pacoima and Lake View Terrace in the San Fernando Valley North of Los Angeles California on Foothill Boulevard between Pierce St and Van Nuys Blvd next to the 210 freeway?
-security cameras were disabled to hide the evidence of unlawful actions by the feds.
this is mafia action. they allow mega corps to sell tainted gmo, artificial chemicals, mass medication while destroying independent suppliers.
whatever the debate may be on dairy, raw is certainly healthier than growth hormone dairy with all the good microorganism killed off. besides, people survived for thousands of years on raw diary with no more problems than you would expect with treated dairy.
@Urudrim This is why people hate US law enforcement. This is proves US law enforcement may use similar tactics as used by police in countries who had Communists, Fascists, and Nazi leaders. Even modern day China censors their people along with the Middle East.
many points here. this isn't the first time rawsome was raided. there seems to be an organized push against natural foods. even the amish.
-some bogus charges have been brought up
-no actual tainted food had been found
-even if there were honest charges, they have no right to charge in there with an army, guns drawn and terrorize everyone, seize property and cash. they can calmly walk in, serve a warrant and politely ask everyone to cooperate.
I liked you thought on raw milk. your perspective on it is defiantly a clear one. I like that perspective. I think people need to make up thier minds. I think rawfoods are healthy, been eating since a child. Had good experiance so far in life. pretty healty indian raw food diet, so raw food is good. Also on raw milk, its people choice, the government decide weather people should not? what are they (the gov) our parents? I agree with your view of raw milk
Rawesome doesn't hide the fact that they offer unpasteurized dairy, in fact their entire business is based on offering entirely unprocessed foods including dairy.
Whether this is a health risk is not an issue. These people should be free! They should have the freedom to act in anyway they desire, if it doesn't cause direct harm to others. Similar arguments can be used on the legalization of drugs.
Tragically this is state intervention, restricting personal choice and freedom. It's oppression.
Well first of all, there are no health issues with genetically modified foods, and pesticides are inactivated and cleaned before the produce is sold (also, wash your damn produce). I hate that stigma, because it's totally ignorant. That said, I don't agree with the gov't shutting down a business and jailing the owner because they sold raw foods. However, if this business was in violation of health standards (it probably was), then yes it should probably be shut down.
@hollytoo There are plenty of other examples where the FDA dropped the ball with regulation. Just because something is natural doesn't mean it's good for you either. Where companies can directly advertise to consumers, I suppose without regulation the market will regulate itself eventually, only after plenty of people die though, and get sick and get addicted to all kinds of things first, on a much more epic and massive level than we are already seeing of course.
Organic food is absolutely wrong, there just isn't enough land in the would to support humanity on organic crops alone, the methods we use today have saved millions from starvation and people who support organic food should research the green revolution, it's effects and why we use fertilizers and pesticides today with out crops, those who don't should have no opinion on the issue. As for dairy products, your argument fails to take into account the nutritional benefits of dairy products.
Agree that adults don't need milk but we don't "need" most of what we consume. I drank raw milk as a child from my grandparents farm; properly handled from healthy cows it is as safe as it should be. The government is concerned with protecting the interests of corporate dairies -- which do need to be regulated because their cows are unhealthy due to industrialized care -- and wants to control what is seen as a growing renegade culture movement in our food supply.
@hollytoo Talk to anyone who works in pharmacutical drug production and you'd know that the FDA is neccessary. Like I said, they're not perfect, they are bought off in a lot of cases and everything you just mentioned I agree is horrible, but if you get rid of them and the EPA like the right ring libertarians/Ron Paultards want to,will the corporations themselves give a crap about healthy the food without any regulation at all? Just getting rid of the FDA is a simple, dumb non solution to this.
Fuck murder and robbery, people should be prevented from getting organic bok choy! But I agree with you there. Milk is for the babies of the species, not adult humans!
@RadarKat73080 but most of the human race have developed lactase persistence. we have evoled to retain the abilty to break down the sugars in milk, as a direct result of humans having drunk bovinae milk.
@marcarmstrong88 It's not good for us though. Ironically, the protein makes our blood acidic and it leeches calcium from our bones. The lactose eats away at our teeth.
@RadarKat73080 lol no it does not make our blood any more acidic that it already is (its slightly alkaline). and its high in calcium so how is it leeching from us.. how would this "leeching" even take place. ok now your talk crap.. im sorry for having wasted my time.
It is mostly Caucasians exclusively who can tolerate Milk products. Fewer then 10% of Africans and Asians can digest the enzymes of milk. In reasonable amounts, it is very healthy for a Caucasians.
I'm pretty much with Proteanview on my personal thoughts about milk, I think it's nasty now, I don't like any of it, Goats milk sounds horrific. Sometimes I drink that Almond/Rice Milk or whatever the hell that is, that shit isn't bad. If I had to drink milk it would be skim milk of some kind, because it doesn't have fat and it's watered down as hell. Thick ass Goat milk, Cow milk, human milk, whatever... I'm too old to be drinking that nastiness.
If you drink milk manufactured in the US, it absolutely must be pasteurized! Why? Because a cow's teats are hooked up to mechanical suckers that pump them until they form sores and spew out pus into the milk. (There is a legal limit to how much pus can there be in every quart of milk.) Thus, if not pasteurized, you will get infected from the cow pus and die.
@MuhammadVonRaven That doesnt happen when you milk by hand - Ive seen some super remote areas with people who drink raw milk daily and dont die of pus poisoning...
If the non pasturized goat milk is the reason the store is getting raided I'd have to side with the store. I'd expect to get sick drinking that nasty shit, but in a country where consumers can be directly advertised too, it does raise some interesting questions about what governments role should be. I'm for the FDA myself, it's not perfect, it needs reform, but it sure as hell is better than nothing, imagine what fucked up shit small buisnesses and corporations could sell.. Yikes!
This is too much! It's crazy. A simple warning would have been sufficient. The raw dairy can be very dangerous! That does not mean that it will guarantee it has worms or whatever; its rare, but it does happen. A big sticker could have solved the problem. Raiding them like they were selling crack is unconstitutional and WRONG. When are you people going to rise up!
raw food advocates and vegans are constantly looking for a reason to hit everyone around them in the face with their agenda, so you will NEVER hear mention of the store owner not having the proper permits to sell said products.. you will only hear reactionary rhetoric about 'big brother', maaaaan
The raw organic food movement is a threat to big ag and the pharmaceutical industries.People who eat healthy are no longer a commodity. It's all about market share.
Big Pharma is aware that there is a move by the public to switch to what truly heals vs endlessy treating symptoms with toxins. If one is going to consume dairy, unpastuerized has the the full compliment of digestive bacteria and enzymes that make it tolerable. Pasteurized is essentially dead and devoid of true nutritional value.
Consumers must have the ability to decide for themselves. Scare stories about how McD's will use dog meat in its burgers if they're not legally forced to meet certain nutritional standards are true to an extent. But who decides what is healthy? ONLY consumers can decide for themselves. When you leave it to the government, you have to rely on their standards. Look now at how they go after organic/raw food stores but leave Monsanto and high-fructose corn syrup alone. Decide for yourself!
I grew up on 'raw' cows milk straight from the cow and so did my 5 brothers and sisters!! Guess what we are still alive. But on the milk thing itself I think babys should only be given mothers milk not milk from a friggen cow for the simple reason it is designed for a HUGE animal not little babies. but raiding a health food store, what a crock of shit!
Seeing as they were raided for not having the proper permits I can understand that. Ideally the permit acts as proof that you have handled the raw products properly. With raw milk this is of the utmost importance as if it is treated improperly anything can get into the milk including whole rats not just the feces.
I grew up on a farm, if the milk was cold it was fine. The people join the rawsome group knowing what is what. Next they will bust kids selling leomnade, oh wait.
Personally, I don't really find the argument that it's only made for babies, a compelling enough one - There are lots of food sources which have multiple uses.
Fruit tree evolved to have their fruit be tasty to creatures, so that it wasn't just about the fruit laying on the ground with a protective layer, but having seed(s) spread by animals who wanted the sweet layer.
It's not a direct comparison, but I do find the likelihood of interdependency high enough to discount single intent arguments.
Sir, Civilizations have been drinking milk and eating cows for thousands of years and today you're questioning whether its good for you?? Raw milk and natural honey are probably the best two natural foods in the world. Raw milk is full of nutrients but after the homog. and pasteur processes you'd be better off drinking water.
@JesusNonEnviromental and it was most likely from cows that were fed grass not grain. By requiring this standard it can stay healthy. if there ain't no standard, who knows what kind of cows the raw milk came from? it think the best raw natural foods is probably plant based not animal based.
@igotsissues Yes, cows that chew the cud have much better milk than cows that are fed grain which are also fed steroids and antibiotics. The Homo and Pasteur processes were put in place to regulate the supply by forcing smaller producers out of business and then prices can be controlled regardless of demand. The Govt wants control of the food production in this country and they will do it under the pretence of Health and Safety.
So nobody died from the raw milk and the owner goes to jail and the contents of the store thrown out.
However Vioxx, Phen-Phen, etc can kill hundreds (even thousands) of people with nobody in big pharma being prosecuted for years (or recalling it immediately)...and can settle in court.
Oh, and the FDA doesnt do shit to companies that sell e-coli tainted meat that kills those who eat it...the government wont even step in to require the meat removed from store shelves.
I think the solution appears without any centralized authority dictating it. Independent consumer groups are the answer. They do the research and people benefit.
Raw dairy's OK if the proper precautions have been taken. Stay away from tomatoes or potatoes grown with organic phosphate top dressing if you want to keep you Polonium intake down though.
@FarahWonderland7 Funny how organized crime in power use their media, their Hollywood and "education system" to program humans to believe natural raw food= bad! & harmful, yet their pharmagovcorp lab-fabricated aspartame laced genetically modified chemicalized "foodstuff" in supermarkets everywhere perfectly ok to consume with no adverse side effects. LOL! You'd never see them be 1/2 as critical of GMO frankenfoods or formaldehyde-filled vaccines in their media, as they are of raw milk...
"Diseases that pasteurization can prevent include tuberculosis, brucellosis, diphtheria, scarlet fever and Q-fever; it also kills the harmful bacteria Salmonella, Listeria, Yersinia, Campylobacter, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli 157 among others."
some just don't understand the potential health hazards that come by drinking milk not put through proper pasteurization...i think the govt did the right thing by shutting this place down if products were not being properly labeled.
lactose tolerance is caused by a mutation from approx 10.000 years ago, when our ancestors began to domesticate goats and cows, the ability to digest milk throughout life is caused by this mutation. The gene regulates production a of milk sugar-depleting enzyme enzyme. Instead of shutting down the enzyme production when a person reaches a certain age, the production gets to continue. 70% of all adults on earth are lactose intolerant. 95% of all northern Europeans are lactose-tolerant.
I don't see why bad service is any different when it comes to food. Yeah, sure you could die if the food contains poison, but you could die with the same ease if the breaks in your car stop working ? Did you personally check every component in your car before driving it ? No. You paid for a service, and you expect and trust that that service was delivers properly.
So please, quit the double standard when it comes to food and medical assistance.
...but that's how our government rolls, ya know? It's all 'bout being a part of the biggest, baddest gang in the U.S. of A. - if you're a part of the system, you have the right to do whatever it is you want and those who are not directly part of the system (...i.e. - the citizenry...). I'm not ashamed to point out the obvious...this was nothing more then a corporate-sponsored raid - pure and simple. Do I agree with the raids, no...the FDA needs to back off. I suggest using rock salt in shotguns.
So long as all food is clearly labelled and everyone knows what is in their food and they can make informed decisions - let people make their own damn decisions.
Protean, you're looking at this the wrong way. You should be asking if we should be able to decide what we put into our own bodies. It's completely legal for me to drink a bottle of bleach, something that will kill me almost immediately, but it's illegal to smoke cannabis. The US is looking more and more like a fascist dictatorship than a democratic republic.
@Devilock79 ever thought about kids who are subject to "whatever you wanna put in their bodies?" not only this but families should be able to relax and know that if they go into a restaurant, there will be a standard of edible food w/o them having to ask for a complete ingredients list and do research on the spot. it's called creating a humane, pleasant society for the masses instead of catering to business at that expense.
Yes, I agree that our food should be safe but we are talking about raw vegetables. The processed food we eat is far more dangerous than a carrot you just pull out of the ground. I agree milk should be pasteurized, but as protean said we shouldn't even be drinking milk that much. As far as government regulation, just look at the recent E. Coli outbreak in the EU that killed at least 16 people. Europe has one of the highest food standards in the world.

So what? No other animal has explored space, does that mean we shouldn't?
No other animals cook their food with fire, does that mean we should not cook our food? What about streets, vaccinations, poetry? All out the window because other animals don't do it?
I normally agree with proteanview, but his points against milk don't hold up here.....

We need a small, well-meaning, regulatory body.

EyeLean5280 6 months ago
...Those who were highly lactose intolerant died off.
EyeLean5280 6 months ago
isssh, the old "milk is for baby" fallacy, you know why mature cows don't drink milk? because they can't, you why I drink it, because I can, pour milk to your dog and watch how fast he down it, there no such think as milk for baby only animal rule, drink the milk if you have it
quaxk 6 months ago
@quaxk women produce milk for humans. cows for calves. women only produce milk once they have babies... because milk is for babies and human milk is for human babies. doesn't matter if you like it or you drink it. there's a reason milk doesn't just show up w/o pregnancy and that it naturally goes away as a baby is weaned. just because we can, adults aren't supposed to drink milk. we certainly aren't supposed to be drinking a cow's when women provide it for humans.

Milk has nutrients necesary for the correct develop of the baby.... get it ?? therefore is not something intended exclusively for a baby, but rather something that helps him get healthy, and as time goes we still need those nutrients, proteins and enzymes.
mikeelman 6 months ago
@mikeelman Yep. Milk has nutrients for baby. That's why mothers produce it when they have a baby and not throughout teen years. When we're no longer babies, we get nutrients from many other foods. That's why it's no longer produced. No reason to start nursing a cow's milk that's meant for calves. Even cows don't drink cow milk. Only calves do because they only need those nutrients as a baby. THINK!
igotsissues 6 months ago
@igotsissues

@weeearthlings That is utter nonsense. Raw milk is the cause of most of the milk-related hospitalizations in the US every year. If raw milk is better for you, then you probably think we're better off without vaccines too because it's somehow more "natural". The process is there to kill harmful bacteria. Even here in Wisconsin, the dairy state, we can't get raw milk legalized. To me it should be legal, but also then labelled properly.

We should live, not survive.

why did you remove the rabid zionist investigate pam geller?
Hkhan23 6 months ago
Well first of all, there are no health issues with genetically modified foods, and pesticides are inactivated and cleaned before the produce is sold (also, wash your damn produce). I hate that stigma, because it's totally ignorant. That said, I don't agree with the gov't shutting down a business and jailing the owner because they sold raw foods. However, if this business was in violation of health standards (it probably was), then yes it should probably be shut down.

@hollytoo I'm sure if the organic trend gets a lot bigger corporations will exploit the shit out of that too, no worries. :-)
DarkFantasyvids 6 months ago
@hollytoo There are plenty of other examples where the FDA dropped the ball with regulation. Just because something is natural doesn't mean it's good for you either. Where companies can directly advertise to consumers, I suppose without regulation the market will regulate itself eventually, only after plenty of people die though, and get sick and get addicted to all kinds of things first, on a much more epic and massive level than we are already seeing of course.
DarkFantasyvids 6 months ago
Organic food is absolutely wrong, there just isn't enough land in the would to support humanity on organic crops alone, the methods we use today have saved millions from starvation and people who support organic food should research the green revolution, it's effects and why we use fertilizers and pesticides today with out crops, those who don't should have no opinion on the issue. As for dairy products, your argument fails to take into account the nutritional benefits of dairy products.
XChillX42 6 months ago
Agree that adults don't need milk but we don't "need" most of what we consume. I drank raw milk as a child from my grandparents farm; properly handled from healthy cows it is as safe as it should be. The government is concerned with protecting the interests of corporate dairies -- which do need to be regulated because their cows are unhealthy due to industrialized care -- and wants to control what is seen as a growing renegade culture movement in our food supply.
liz1060 6 months ago
@hollytoo Talk to anyone who works in pharmacutical drug production and you'd know that the FDA is neccessary. Like I said, they're not perfect, they are bought off in a lot of cases and everything you just mentioned I agree is horrible, but if you get rid of them and the EPA like the right ring libertarians/Ron Paultards want to,will the corporations themselves give a crap about healthy the food without any regulation at all? Just getting rid of the FDA is a simple, dumb non solution to this.
DarkFantasyvids 6 months ago
Fuck murder and robbery, people should be prevented from getting organic bok choy! But I agree with you there. Milk is for the babies of the species, not adult humans!
RadarKat73080 6 months ago
@RadarKat73080 but most of the human race have developed lactase persistence. we have evoled to retain the abilty to break down the sugars in milk, as a direct result of humans having drunk bovinae milk.
marcarmstrong88 6 months ago
@marcarmstrong88 It's not good for us though. Ironically, the protein makes our blood acidic and it leeches calcium from our bones. The lactose eats away at our teeth.
RadarKat73080 6 months ago

DarkFantasyvids 6 months ago
If you drink milk manufactured in the US, it absolutely must be pasteurized! Why? Because a cow's teats are hooked up to mechanical suckers that pump them until they form sores and spew out pus into the milk. (There is a legal limit to how much pus can there be in every quart of milk.) Thus, if not pasteurized, you will get infected from the cow pus and die.
I have stopped drinking milk.
MuhammadVonRaven 6 months ago
@MuhammadVonRaven That doesnt happen when you milk by hand - Ive seen some super remote areas with people who drink raw milk daily and dont die of pus poisoning...
uwmbigb 6 months ago
If the non pasturized goat milk is the reason the store is getting raided I'd have to side with the store. I'd expect to get sick drinking that nasty shit, but in a country where consumers can be directly advertised too, it does raise some interesting questions about what governments role should be. I'm for the FDA myself, it's not perfect, it needs reform, but it sure as hell is better than nothing, imagine what fucked up shit small buisnesses and corporations could sell.. Yikes!
DarkFantasyvids 6 months ago
This is too much! It's crazy. A simple warning would have been sufficient. The raw dairy can be very dangerous! That does not mean that it will guarantee it has worms or whatever; its rare, but it does happen. A big sticker could have solved the problem. Raiding them like they were selling crack is unconstitutional and WRONG. When are you people going to rise up!

Pasteurized is essentially dead and devoid of true nutritional value.
ancestralblue 6 months ago 2

But through me, it would wield a power too great and terrible to imagine.
vesman81 6 months ago
Seeing as they were raided for not having the proper permits I can understand that. Ideally the permit acts as proof that you have handled the raw products properly. With raw milk this is of the utmost importance as if it is treated improperly anything can get into the milk including whole rats not just the feces.
JamesThWilliams 6 months ago
Yes dairy is healthy. Yes Raw dairy is also healthy. Even if it were not, I do not want any govt being able to shut down its sale.. anywhere.
utubehayter 6 months ago
I grew up on a farm, if the milk was cold it was fine. The people join the rawsome group knowing what is what. Next they will bust kids selling leomnade, oh wait.
darkwhitedirewolf 6 months ago
The Big Problem with raw diary is that there are milk-born diseases, that come with untreated milk.
If it would just cause harm to those drinking it.. who the fuck cares, but those diseases spread.
Yes, i think it is ok for the government to step in to avoid spreading diseases.
Now, do they need to "raid" the place?
I think a normal fine would do...
bla34112 6 months ago
Personally, I don't really find the argument that it's only made for babies, a compelling enough one - There are lots of food sources which have multiple uses.
Fruit tree evolved to have their fruit be tasty to creatures, so that it wasn't just about the fruit laying on the ground with a protective layer, but having seed(s) spread by animals who wanted the sweet layer.
It's not a direct comparison, but I do find the likelihood of interdependency high enough to discount single intent arguments.
PurpleGhost 6 months ago
Sir, Civilizations have been drinking milk and eating cows for thousands of years and today you're questioning whether its good for you?? Raw milk and natural honey are probably the best two natural foods in the world. Raw milk is full of nutrients but after the homog. and pasteur processes you'd be better off drinking water.
JesusNonEnviromental 6 months ago
@JesusNonEnviromental and it was most likely from cows that were fed grass not grain. By requiring this standard it can stay healthy. if there ain't no standard, who knows what kind of cows the raw milk came from? it think the best raw natural foods is probably plant based not animal based.
igotsissues 6 months ago

Bullshit.

I think the solution appears without any centralized authority dictating it. Independent consumer groups are the answer. They do the research and people benefit.

The raid was NOT about Raw Milk. It is legal to buy and sell raw milk.
This is about other health issues.

LOL! You'd never see them be 1/2 as critical of GMO frankenfoods or formaldehyde-filled vaccines in their media, as they are of raw milk...

lactose tolerance is caused by a mutation from approx 10.000 years ago, when our ancestors began to domesticate goats and cows, the ability to digest milk throughout life is caused by this mutation. The gene regulates production a of milk sugar-depleting enzyme enzyme. Instead of shutting down the enzyme production when a person reaches a certain age, the production gets to continue. 70% of all adults on earth are lactose intolerant. 95% of all northern Europeans are lactose-tolerant.

government should keep the fuck out.

AnnikaGarratt 6 months ago
Protean, you're looking at this the wrong way. You should be asking if we should be able to decide what we put into our own bodies. It's completely legal for me to drink a bottle of bleach, something that will kill me almost immediately, but it's illegal to smoke cannabis. The US is looking more and more like a fascist dictatorship than a democratic republic.
Devilock79 6 months ago
@Devilock79 ever thought about kids who are subject to "whatever you wanna put in their bodies?" not only this but families should be able to relax and know that if they go into a restaurant, there will be a standard of edible food w/o them having to ask for a complete ingredients list and do research on the spot. it's called creating a humane, pleasant society for the masses instead of catering to business at that expense.
khemeticone 6 months ago
@khemeticone
