I almost bought one at a dealer (was a trade-in), but the dealer gave it to a scrapyard claiming 'it had died'. I couldn't prove it so a beautiful, rare car (which seemed in average condition) is probably being torn apart to fix a sh** holden gemini.
Один экземплярчик достался мне с пробегом 90000 на автомате ) Собираюсь восстанавливать, приводить в порядок, в принципе так то она на ходу - покрасить и так по мелочи подремонтировать...
@alernest GM was the downfall of Isuzu in the US. It stifled their development budgets, limited imports, restricted dealers and would only let them badge-engineer its US offerings. All it wanted were cost-effective commercial trucks to slap a bowtie and GMC banner on. Did you know the Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon pickups were badge engineered Isuzu D-Maxes? The D-Max even has a better front end and a V-6.
Had one till it died with 230000km - and it looks not like a Corrado, it looks like a Scirocco (Corrado forerunner). Was a cool car, felt like in an airplane inside :-)
I had two of them tha last one for 12 years, unfurtunatelly I coudn't keep it. It was the end of an era of joy and exitement, driving through all high passes in the Austrian , Swiss and Italian Alps. If I coud have it again I would adquire it, it is nothing like it. Loos it was like the lost of the best friend. buaaaaa
1 x Holden Piazza 1986 2.0Ltr Turbo (poor condition)
1 x Isuzu Piazza 1986 2.0 Ltr Turbo (drivable)
1 x Isuzu Piazza 1986 2.0Ltr Turbo (leather interior, rear spoiler, front spoiler, original rims, engine rebuild in progress, everything is emaculate! a beaty!)
i have a sweet little black number sitting in my backyard, waiting for a restoration. Quite a rare car here in australia, the "Holden" Piazza. 2lt Turbo RWD Hatchback = Bulk fun!
I got a white Lotus piazza now;) After all these years i finally got one it's sweet! The only thing i should do is to make a new account name(I am not a audi fan:S The account i got was made back in the days when i loved the urquattro...)
They are nothing alike in any way. The JR Chassis Impulse (1981-1989) was a Modified version of the GM T-car chassis. Front engine RWD and were sold with the G180 and G200, 4ZC1-T and 4ZD1 engines. The 90's model Impulse is a completely different chassis, is FWD (AWD in the 1991 RS in North America). available with the 4XE1, 4XE1-W, 4XF1-W and the 4XE1-WT n the 1991 RS (other models outside of North America got the turbo 1.6). Not one part will interchange between the first and 2nd gen cars.
Oddball, you're lucky, HBL discs (260mm) can't be obtained for love nor money in the UK. Well, they can, but you'd have to fork out the equivalent of $450 for a set from a third party company.
Weirdly enough I bought a cache of parts from a HBL with a sunroof, and I have a seal...of no use to me, my car doesn't have one :)
What a fun car. Someone came by my house and wants to by mine, and I'm having a hard time saying yes. This is my 4th one and I just don't want to let another one go. :(
I'm hoping that watching some inspirational videos will help me say no. :D
HBLs are nice. Some of the parts are unobtainable, like the brake rotors. Can be arsehole at MOT time. I've got a 1987 non HBL Piazza Turbo, which handles like a bag of shite because the control arms, bottom ball joint and track rod ends are shagged, as well as the ARB bushes on the back.... really enjoyed this vid though.. too much applique wood in that HBL for me though.
I have no problem getting brake parts for my 1988 Turbo. Nor my 1989 Turbo while I had it. The only real hard to find parts tend to be trim peices. Like the Sunroof weather strip. It was completely gone from my 89, and its completely F-ed on my 88.
Except it was designed before the Scirocco, is actually RWD, not FWD like the Scirocco, actually handled well with the Lotus tuned or Irmscher suspension, and was actually remotely fast in turbo form which the scirocco...wasn't.
Only 24 of these wonderful cars cars are registered in the United Kingdom.

- Designed by Giugiaro, Italy.
- Built by Isuzu, Japan.
- Tuned by Lotus, UK.
- Paid for by GM, US for us to enjoy...!

Come to think of it, it almost has the same basic shape as a Volkswagen Scirocco, only with much smoother lines.
