Man, this is good television. You know, the modern stuff with the lights and glitter and graphics and all that mess are there to cover for a bad show. Look at this: Almost zero glitter and snazz and the show stands on its own.
And the host and the guest-stars are excellent. This is good stuff.
Back in the day when celebs were respectable and not total freaks. It's amazing that Betty White, forty-seven years later, is still so alive and kicking. I'm sure she'll bring the house down hosting SNL next month. I love her.
Forgot to add also loved Jack's question, 'What kind of honeymoon did you have?' and Allen takes his 'executive privilege' as the show's Host and retorts, "I ask the questions around here!' =) Also liked Betty's subtle flirt with her new husband when Allen introduces her and asks, "What are you doing this summer, Betty?" and she coyly asks, "What did you have in mind, Allen??" **PRICELESS** =) =)
LOVE the amorous camaraderie between Allen and his new wife Betty and how they speak back and forth in second & third person for humor's sake-Allen's cleaver way to also plug their appearances and summer schedule as a married couple. I totally agree with gamshwfan's comments-- their match was made in heaven-I also add they are ADORABLE!! =)
Allen Luddin and Betty White were a match made in heaven, just like Allen on this show who was a natural for a show like this. The password for them was LOVE and they looked great together on the set and off. As for Jack Parr, does he even know the rules or is he just trying to be funny? I guess the latter but he did cause confusion there. The game of password is great, set up a new type of game called "a word game" and set up the rest of the word games to follow.

If Allen Ludden and Jack Paar were alive today, they too would be defending the institution of marriage. They're probably spinning in their graves over this gay marriage issue. But anyway, we need to return to those days when marriage was respected and good old-fashioned love and romance: and none of this "Who's my baby's daddy?" garbage.
This originally aired in prime-time [Mondays, 10-10:30pm(et)] on June 24, 1963, ten days after Allen & Betty were married. Paar had just finished his first prime-time season on NBC ["THE JACK PAAR PROGRAM", a late Friday evening edition of his previous late-night series]. He also occasionally appeared on "PASSWORD" during this period...
wow, I did not know that. It was really cute to see Allen and Betty act so lovingly towards each other. Usually Allen is kind of formal when hosting the game. It's too bad he left us so early.
Yup, he did it as a present (I read in Betty's book)
It was very cute! Notice how giggly Betty is here! He's formal, but I think it's hard for him to be when Betty is on there. She eggs him on to not be formal.
I love how he was like "Should I be adding these passwords up?"
@ACuriousDanceretc Actually both Jack Paar and Johnny Carson guest starred on several G-T game shows in the 50's and early 60's. Several times in their careers when they were unemployed, G-T would bring them in to be guest panelists (or on What's My Line, mystery guests). Out of gratitude, both Jack and Johnny continued to make guest appearances even after getting network TV shows of their own.
When did they implement the rule that body language was prohibited?

Was Jack Paar hosting the Tonight Show at this time?
pnull 2 years ago
@pnull
According to the description ...This is a 1963 episode of Password...
If so, then Jack Paar was no longer hosting the Tonight Show..
Johnny Carson took over the Tonight show October 1, 1962
dboy122660 1 year ago
@dboy122660 Jack Paar, though, was hosting a weekly primetime talk show on NBC, from 1963-65.

I believe Jack Paar had been on Password before and on that appearance he had TWICE given the password as a clue. Hence the reaction to "randy"
