I had 2 of these fabulous cars. So much fun to drive -only car I've out-cornered a mini cooper with. Pity they rotted away so easily. Would still love to own and drive one, despite their faults.
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Boxer Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
Hi guys, I have a 1982 Alfasud 1.5 TI which is being repaired right now, but there are some parts that are not eeasy to find. Do you know some goos providers for parts here in Europe?
They handled super and went like a bat out of hell. Pity about their craving to rust away just as rapidly as they drove and their shitty building qaulity.
I still dream of my 1981 1.5ti (with Dellorto Carbs) went like stink and converted the many people who thought XR3i was the best. of course it was better in the reliability stakes but it just was not the same. Bella Bellisimo what a motor and plenty of leg over in it as well ... he he you had to find a way to keep warm when your pulled up on the hard shoulder waiting for the engine to cool !!
My late brother-in-law once owned an alfasud 1.3 tii (if i´m right) and an escort xr3i tried to outrun us on a twisty road, well, it didn´t. We left him faaaaaaaaaaar behind :-)
pity they were rusty bastards! i souped one of these up in the early 90's and it was wild. its one of these cars that i was too big a wuss to drive it. The car was capable of more than i dared push it (on corners especially) was only a 1.5 cloverleaf but still awesome. fucker to start aswell lol, had a south euro thermo on it so it hated winters. all the problems aside it was the best car i ever owned, my new scirocco is close tho, more reliable, but far slower
Hi I'm from Singapore, ever owned this car since 1994 and the model is 1980, that is NO GOOD at all, stupid design for the clutch, break and accelarator padel and also very high fuel consumtion, rusty and corrosion make me crazy, I spend S$15,000 to owned this stupid runner for just one year and I throw it off to my friend without condition, but end-up he became turn to be crazy..
classic!

"RGW 210X"
Jet black, spotless boddywork, low profiles, running twin Dellorto's and pushing low 90's hp.
Not a day goes by when I dont think about the pain I would inflict on the *!#% that stole it off my drive.
