I think the reason most of the songs weren't in Brawl, was because they didn't want to delay the game any more than they already had, so development was rushed. But quite honestly, I wish they didn't even announce it until it was close to being done.

heres the story, Nintendo intended Geno and Cloud From FF7 and SMRPG to be in brawl along with Mallow. So nintendo prepared this song and they were working on a stage BEFORE they asked squaresoft inc to allow them in brawl Sony was ok with cloud and nintendo has half of the rights to geno and mallow, BUT squaresoft said no due to the fact that is was there character under contract so they kept Geno and then nintendo never removed this song from brawl but... you have to hack the game to get it.

Sakurai wanted this song to be in Brawl to represent the first Mario RPG, realesed in the SNES.

However, do to some copyright bull, Square did not sell the rights for this song.

Sakurai, already having the song coded, decided to remove it, but he forgot to remove the song from Brawl binary code.

The song is there, but is not accesible from the game, neither the disc, has the song was removed.

The only mention of this song is in the code.

Well actually some songs don't really have a battle like beat. Im pretty sure that it was taken out due to Square Enix wanting copyrights to SMRPG (even though it is a joint game of Enix and Nintendo). Im also pretty sure Geno would have been in this game if it werent for copyrights. Nintendo had a vote and Geno came in at like number 4 for chars that should be in SSBB and Nintendo made pretty much all the other chars in the vote. There is other evidence for this, just look a bit deeper.
