Number one should go to Kazimierz Piechowski, Stanisław Gustaw Jaster and Józef Lempart, they escaped Auschwitz dressed as SS guards and drove Rudolf Höss's a car out, they agreed the kill themselves if they got caught. One of them had to end up shouting abuse at the gate keeper for not opening the gate. They escaped in the end, that's worth number one! :D

Pilot Officer Allan Mcsweyn's plane was shot down on June 29th, 1941 in Germany. He was captured 3 days later trying (and almost succeeding) to steal a German plane. Sent to Spangeburg prison, he was seen climbing down a rope to freedom, but instead of being caught and shot he climbed back up the rope and pretended to be asleep in bed, tricking the guards. 8 breakouts from Oflag VIB (including Warburg Wire job), 4 at Oflag XXIB, and 2 at Lamsdorf, one of wich succesfully led him all the way home
