If i were to put a bit of powered dye in my kno3/sugar mix, wuld it afect my rocket alot or not? because i was just think it would be kida cool to put a bunch of dif. colors in the rocket so it makes like a rainbow as it goes up lol. just wondering
if you put dye in your rocket fuel it wouldn't effect the rocket, but it only burns a little bit slower. an option is to put a bit of iron oxide in your mixture, this will make it burn faster. only then you should ball mill or cook it (for Rcandy)
Start with kno3 (potassium nitrate) smoke bombs wich is a simple mix of kno3 and granulated table sugar cooked to together. after you get some decent smoke bombs look up R candy wich is almost the same thing a bit more complicated though wich will be you rocket fuel then all you need is some tubing (Pvc) and a combustion chamber at the end
Then you're not doing it right. I am surprised the rocket didn't explode, though. You need several grains, not a single monolite grain, you'll get CATO's like that.
Wow, you're really pushing a limit on those ones.....LOL. How many grains and what was the nozzle size and the grain size as well. I believe you need to straighten out your stick balance-it messes up the flight big time.
That looked more than a little dangerous.

everyones says 60/40 but our rocketfuel worked best at 55/45.
Does anyone know how water effects the mixture when cooking it ? We tend to use some drips of water a.s.a. the mixture is crumbly/firm while cooking.

its 60/30

no 60/40 = 100

the water makes the propellant to mix much more good, moleculary
