  • Tina Fey talks about the "yes, and.." approach to improv/life in her book as well. I live improv people.

  • Not only funny - but well spoken and quite intelligent............as we all knew!

  • I thought bird was the word?

  • "Yes" is for people of all ages.

  • 1 person is a cynic

  • great speech

  • one of the best commencement speech I've ever heard!

  • i am so happy this speech is back on on youtube.. i saw it in '07 i think and i was blown away... and i still am... thank you colbert

  • haha 2:25 "...saying Yes begins things. Saying Yes is how things grow. Saying Yes leads to knowledge. Yes is for Young people."

LOL I wonder if any of the older people got that...poor grandpas and grandmas...hahaha

  • Wow, his speech really brought a new perspective to somethings I've been guilty of. I always point and laugh at those who "try too hard" but maybe that's not so bad. To put yourself out for embarrassment, but at the same time, you grow from the experience.

Gawd I love this man. <3

  • Adult life is an improvisation.

Improve things by working with what's already there.

    Cynicism is cowardly.

These are the three things Colbert talks about here and none of them, yes NONE of them are insightful, original, or even funny. If he were my commencement speaker, I'd feel a little let down.

  • as would any worthwhile human being that found you in their audience

  • hahahaha i love him so much your all so lucky to have him ther

    with love from lebanon

  • amazing speech. in just a couple of minutes he gave great advice. i will try to apply "yesand" intro my life from now on.

  • he is one of the few ppl that make me proud to be american

  • That speech was very funny and incredibly inspiring at the same time. This man is amazing.

  • Wonderful speech.

    Solid and expectedly awesome Colbertism.

  • Best speech ever. So much wisdom in "yesand"ing. I try to follow this advice every day in my great improvisation.

  • Stephen is so amazing:)

  • that guy is funny as hell, but he's really smart, too. the first 2 parts, he was just funny. but in less than 4 minutes, he gave some pretty great advice. some people can't say that in their entire speech. he's awesome.

  • Cynicism masquerades as wisdom, but it is the farthest thing from it. Because cynics dont learn anything. Because cynicism is a self-imposed blindness, a rejection of the world because we are afraid it will hurt us or disappoint us. Cynics always say no. But saying yes begins things. Saying yes is how things grow. Saying yes leads to knowledge.

  • cynicism is self-imposed blindness. Yes.
