  • Lol. Too out of tune for my ears..

  • still outa step

  • I am a sophomore in high school and I am very curious in auditioning for either Teal Sound or Boston Crusaders. I have no experience with corps. Can ayone PLEASE give me some advice? I'm so interested! And I would march baritone.

  • @tromboneteen13 you just missed a camp this weekend. definitely give it a go. Its a great experience even if you dont make it.

  • @tromboneteen13

    wikipedia drum corps international

and as for the advice; start lifting weights if you havent already especially if you want to play baritone. And start practicing and be prepared, because its 10x harder than it looks. good luck

  • cool man do you know how old you have to be to audition? im a freshman and this is my second year on B-Tone/Euph. i planned on doing it in 2 years with Crown since i wasnt old enough but i could do this and do crown in a couple of years

  • okay thanks. i really want to audition but i dont think this years the year for me. next year, as a graduating senior, maybe ill have more time

  • for all those asking what the odds are that you will make the hornline or battery or what it may be, being a current member myself, all i can say is the audition music this year is tough, practice. it doesnt matter how old you are (as long as youre at least 16), what grade you are in. the possibility of you getting accepted will come down purely to your audition. you will know your likelyhood after your audition. dont worry about anything else. just max it out. im sure the staff can agree.

  • Obviously, there is no emotion in this at all.....

so if playing loud is bad, then why is it the one thing that is constantly getting people to cheer?

  • this is durring april, the season hasn't even officially started yet so cut them some slack. playing music as hard as this from memory and being in April this is impressive. what matters most is durring their competative season.

  • How can you say that there is no emotion? Teal connected to the crowd better than any other Open Class corps out there this season... This show might not have been the cleanest show out there, but it was loaded with energy.

  • i can't wait to try out!!!!

Man that solo gave me chills!!!

  • I'm trying out in a month in a half and I hope i can make this awesome corps

  • i know some people that marched with them i think Rachael Foster marched with them

  • Whats the chance of me making it on tenors if im a sophmore?

  • Age, grade, is irrelevant. Just practice alot and commit. Commitment and dedication is a large percentage of the audition process.

  • Exactly! Im 16 years old with no corps experience, and I made teal sound cymbal line this year. Commitment is what it really does take!

  • i wanna audition for baritone/euphonium sooooo bad but i can't make the audition camp. i heard that they accept video auditions. is that true?

  • most Corps do.

i would audition for Teal Sound because i live in Florida but their overall cost would just kill me. which is why i'm looking into Boston Crusaders (world class) because they host most of their camps and auditions in Tampa Fl. and the price isn't nearly as much as Teal. plus its world class.

and i'm trying out on marching euphonium too.

  • "plus its world class"

I dont get why people decide where they want to march simply whether or not the organization is "world" class or not. You can still have a phenomenal, life changing summer with an open class corps. They work just as hard, if not harder, and instill the same values that help you grow into a more mature person, as a "world class" corps. On top of all that, Teal might be world class next season.

  • i can understand, but lets face it, most ppl don't give a rats jack if you march open class. and reason i said plus its world class because its a different level of achievement. i never said experiences would suck just because its open class. its like the difference b/w graduating from comm. college and oxford.

i'mma auditioning mainly for the fact that its more affordable to me if i go with Boston and because they're down in fl often. Teal is great i know, but they have a higher fee.

  • @Sharod101 Teal is cheaper than Boston this year. Boston has one of if not the highest prices of all corps in world class.

  • I couldn't agree more. As someone who marched Teal in 07,08 and 09 which was my age out year, I had a great time being in an Open Class corps. I chose to stay at Teal to help build the organization. Sure I could have gone somewhere else in World Class but I wanted to help Teal get to that next level. Don't underestimate Teal Sound. Great things are on the way. Just give them some time.

  • @rapidtransit9 ha im down with that mind set.

  • What's the difference between world class and not world class?

  • im trying out for teal on baritone this year

is it hard to make it or whats the rate of accptance?

  • (continued)maybe its the quality of their players, maybe its the management and ideas of the director and techs, but one things for certain, theres no emotion on the field, take advice from the Madison Scouts "play always from the soul".

  • THAT'S funny because they're moving up to div 1 next year.

  • but the real question is, will they make a sphash? because there are alot of corps in "WORLD CLASS" not "division 1", that haven't done anything, like Pioneer, Glassmen, Cascades, even their "big brother" Jersey Surf.

  • ...Jersey Surf has been in WC for ONE year. Give them some time. Glassmen is a finals corps pretty much every year.

  • You mean like world class? are they really?

  • I saw this show live, and you have no idea what you're talking about. There is plenty of emotion on the field, the design is one of the most innovative I've seen in the last few years. And as far as taking madisons motto, it's gotten them where? Out of finals for the last half decade, the innability to attract decent musicians, 3 directors that were and are aweful, make bad fiancial decisions? You mean that madison? the one that's getting smacked all over the field by Troopers? those Scouts?

  • It's all staff. Dont say shit about corps. Corps are all staff if theres good staff good musicians will go

  • Jenny Diaz from the Mello section is one of my closest friends!! I'm so proud of her, and everything she has accomplished. Unfortunately, she is aging out this year, but I couldn't have wanted a better show for her to age out to. Go TEAL! Can't wait to see you guys in Orlando!

  • i just saw them last night with my marching band! and im truely a fan! they were my absoulute favorite of the evening! go teal sound!!!!!!

  • howd u like the new uniforms??

  • Loved them:) love love loved them! Hope they have a great a season:):):)

  • randy wanted me to march this year for teal because he needed baritone spots but i couldnt cuz of money but ima march for them next year

    hopefully i get bus 2 lol :D

  • My nephew is marching with them this year. He's playing in the front ensemble, rack percussion with the suspended bass, gong, and others. I'm very proud of him. He's only 15, and he's playing with a high level group, and taking his shots like a man. I took him to his 1st DCI show when he was 9. He stepped up at a very young age, knowing the possibility of being cut. Hats off to Teal Sound also. They have a great show this year!

  • Man, I cannot get over how good you guys are! I really want to march bass next year!!! Anybody know anything about getting sponsors?

  • thats awsome the snare tech at my school said that i should audition for teal sound so i might audition for snare...i hope i make it!
