  • quick an sweet nice jobe but i think u could just do what was said earlyer here zip tie it out side as long as u un hook the wire conecting the govener link to the carb would do same thing for shore but the gear would still be turning inside and rob a little power so i guess thats why u remove it got to do my power fist 6.5 .

  • I have a 6.5 predator and wanna know if it's the same process I need to do

  • @Imatankinmw3 dude u gotta tell me more than that i dont kno wat a predator motor is

  • Great vid. Short and sweet and to the point.

  • The governor is similar to the Briggs 5 hp one. Does it matter how the governor gear meshes with the cam gear?

  • Cant you just take the governor linkeage off? I have done that to many of go carts. Just fabricate a bracket and run it straight to the carb...

  • i personally dont want to sit here listening to you talk.

  • or you just disconnect the linkage

  • Very informative, works for me - Thanks

  • Will it blow the engine when you take the governer off at full throttle

  • this is also your oil slinger in other words dont take off the gear!!!!

  • @87BigRedChevy Any rotating part in the crankcase will sling oil.... the only "oil slinger" that's in there for lubrication purposes is on the bottom of the connecting rod. The governor or it's gear aren't part of the lubricating system. Just don't over rev the motor once it's out.

  • this is the hardway honestly ive got a b&s 10hp on my raceing mower and any motor usually tends to burn up after excessive use, so some better advise is put heavyer weight oil inside your motor straight 40-50 wieght is good stuff for running no gov.

  • is this on any engine ? like the ones that u can use for compressors home built go karts please repply .

  • @chepiner yes

  • @MrGiantstpss what if the moter is older??

  • Would you suggest just zip tieing the govoner from the outside? It's seems like its basically doing the same thing... I dunno please answer

  • @cmphillips97 I'm not really sure what you mean by just zip tying it what do you expect that to do?

  • will it slowly cook the engine of the scooter, thus making it break?

  • very helpful thanks

  • I got stuck working on it for a friend,if you don't like working on tecumseh that means you are smarter than me, they are scrap, thanks anyway.

  • I like your video.have you ever worked on a 13hp ohv tecumseh engine?

  • @timefink1 sorry bud i havent i usually stay away from anything made by tecumseh i dont like them

  • @MrGiantstpss right on! Tecumseh are trash

  • @alexsuchapimp

What do you base that statement on?

I have a 39 year old Ariens snow thrower with an 8hp Tecumseh. Starts first pull and throws snow a long way. I have maintained it myself and taken good care of it.

Thanks for the informative vid MrGiantstpss.

  • @byronstyrofoam Tecumseh are more complicated and harder to work on.

  • I think it would be better to use a helper spring if you need more RPM and spend some timing reading a manual that gives detailed instructions on governer adjustment.

You can change the RPM range, sensitivity and upper and lower RPM span in most engines to solve all your problems.

Removing a governer is like cutting off your head to sure a head ake.....

  • @northerbrewer the box stock gokart class does the same thing i did......

  • @MrGiantstpss

    Not realy the same thing.

BS motors are geared to run at around 5500 rpm peak.

AND you remove the arm and all the parts that cause trouble inside if they are loose.

They run hard and die young.

Keep a clone governed and under 5000 rpm is fairly easy to do without taking it apart.

  • would it work if you removed the spring that attaches from the governor to the throttle?

  • @TheAssassin111 nope

  • @MrGiantstpss yes it will

  • Best bloody video I wver saw.

  • could i disconnect the governer linkage and rig the lever to engagae a nitrous shot instead? it would be iinteresting even though it may burn out the motor

  • can you answer this? i have a baja 97cc mini bike and when i ride it for a while it makes a noise and stails out any advice

  • so what your saying is that this makes it go faster??? does this also work on a 97cc baja

  • oh sweet so i dont need that part then... i put it all back together and i think thats the part i didnt put on right and that might be the reason why the thing doesnt even start so yeah... im taking that off now lol thanks man this helped

  • thats the cam. that splashes the oil to the cilnder. u will distroy it. do the robin motors have the timing chains stock and the bearing before the seal

  • what does complicated mean? heh

  • for people who ask is there a govern on this or that motor the answer is YES THERE IS and THERE IS A GOVERN ON EVERY MOTOR EVERY KIND...49cc pocket bikes dont have them i dont know if cars do but basically everything thing else does!!!! quads atvs dirt bikes jet skis everything!

  • This all summed it up for me. I been wonderin how a governor works lately and just stumbled upon your vid. Now i dont have to wonder

  • is their a govenor on a x18 110cc super pocket bike?

  • I see a lot of you knuckleheads asking retarded questions about what kind of engine is mechanical gov or what. It's pretty simple. if you don't see that extra mechanical linkage then it's obviously electrical. If you don't have basic understanding of motors you shouldn't be fucking with them or you'll be sorry! hehe. Fuck around on a junk motor first before you screw up your good one. good vid, kid. keep it up.

  • just wondering, is there a way to temporarily disable a "hire kart's" governor? during a race. It does get annoying at public tracks because i am a light weighted person getting left for dead on the straight.

  • @theBringit1 As for you, the little screw where the throttle stops is what you adjust for a concession cart to get more speed out of it. It may be hard to get to, but don't get caught or they'll kick your ass out, hehe.

  • Hey man, Can I just take off the external linkage arm? Because I'm gonna be honest, I got made at my clutch and just kind of hammered it on. Haha, So I cant get it off to remove the side of my engine.

  • @TipsTricksAndSecrets haha ya go for it

  • @MrGiantstpss

Oh thats bad advice on a clone.

Parts fly off inside a clone if you do that and there is a risk the governer arm can flop around inside and hit the crank.

  • @TipsTricksAndSecrets Yeah that works too

  • how to get governor off Arctic Cat 90cc 2007 model?

  • does the arctic cat 300 utility 2011 model got a governer?

  • @LiLaLiEn3883 yes but it is governed through the ignition system not by mechanical means

  • @MrGiantstpss dont wanna bug ya but are u talking about the screw behind the throttle? theres a box ontop of the throttle and its on the back of that box.

  • @LiLaLiEn3883 oh wait nevermind i see what u meaned

  • hey do you know what kind of governer is on a vcplus v twin

  • does this work with a tomos streetmate r?

  • how do you remove the governor on a 2006 yamaha bws?

  • @dastous01 it has an electronic governor not mechanical so the only way would be to get a different cdi box

  • So, whenever you exceed the rpm set on the governor, it opens by centrifugal force to restrict the rpm ? Is that it ?

  • @kazankingo yessir

  • hey i need some help i was randomly riding my go kart to some skids and drifts like what a go kart is made to do and randomly a hole blew in my engine why do you think this happened im really confused and also i recently installed a muffler because the other one fell out

  • @EpicPr0 dude i have no idea i wasnt there and can't see your motor but if you blew a hole through the thing u prolly threw a rod. sounds to me like you motor is done so save up and buy a new one.

  • @EpicPr0 to much pressure and it threw a rod

  • @EpicPr0 You most likely had an oiling issue. This could lead to too much friction and the crank buckling the connecting rod. Check your oil regularly man! Another scenario that is EXTREMELY unlikely is that your new muffler had too much back pressure.

  • would it be bad for the engine if instead of having to go inside the engine to take the governor off, you just unhooked it from the outside and ran it like that?

  • @airsoftman20 u can do it like that if you want to but u still have to make a new linkage

  • How stupid, the engine was not designed for that kind of out put. Doing that just shortens the life of a motor. If you want the thrill of 5-6k you need to go 2 cycle and not 4. My first go cart was two chainsaw motors. And it ran around 85 mph. A lot less chance of killing yourself. By the way, what do you think a motor turning 5grand would feel like on the legs and maybe on the crotch. Something to think about! Try to imagine going through LIFE in a wheelchair?

  • @NCollar957 dont care. if you dont like it dont watch it.

  • COULD YOU SHOW US HOW TO REMOVE A GOVERNOR ONA SYM MIO 50 CC ENGINE WE USE IN EUROPE ? MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE

  • @HITHEREFOLKS they are governed through the ignition system not by mechanical means so either buy an aftermarket cdi box for it that has no rev limiter or their is nothing that you can do.

  • @MrGiantstpss many thanks for reply. i did take off one round plastic gizmo, dont't know if it had too much of an effect though.....

  • @MrGiantstpss acctualy, on the throttle hookup, under the throttle cable an stuff, there is a screw tht u can turn in or out to make it get more or less gas

  • so if i just remove the weights that will do it?

  • @MrRutless1 nope

  • you never mention the valves. some people says that removing the governor will actually blow up your engine and you cant control its rpms any more.

some videos out there recommend replace with a 18_lb spring valve. what do you think?

  • Can this hurt the engine.

  • @TheMrcod5killer - Not by removing the governor, but not having the governor and over revving the motor can easily bust a rod on a small motor in the best of cases, crack the casing as well in the worst.

  • I don't understand why you just cant remove the external linkage. Why remove the internals at all?

  • @rtruesdale cus when i looked into it it said to take the internal stuff out to prevent it from coming apart in the motor

  • @MrGiantstpss I was thinking the same thing. I connected my throttle cable to the external governor arm. It pulls on the arm and the plunger on the internal is overpowered. I have not had a problem with it flying apart. It revs to something like 6k and has almost doubled the speed of my bike to slightly over 50mph

  • I don't understand why you just cant remove the external linkage. Why remove the internals at all?

  • Great info and video thanks.

  • can you just remove the grar an the rod it pushes an just plug the hole?

  • Nice vid

  • there is a reason why that governor is there its so the motor doesn't over rev. and the motor doesn't last as long so go ahead destroy your new motor

  • bro is it the same at trucks?...i work as a truck and coach mechanic. i understand you more than siting on class..thanks

  • great job..!

  • is it much different from a governor on a riding lawnmower??

  • @yayo122193 nope

  • There, I rated it 4 star, not as bad as when I was checking valves by twisting the flywheel back and forth and ripped a large chunk of skin and nail off by pinching my finger inbetween the magneto and flywheel, that was 5 Star

  • they have something like that on the bottom of merrygorounds .

  • i was told that your engine will blow if you take the governor out

  • depends how u drive the car and how you let it shift.i took the rev limiter amungst other things off of many cars to make them faster and it was fine as far as i knew.you really have to be familiar with how the car shifts and when the limits are for what your puttin it thru.

  • destroy a good engine there.

search videos and you can see the fails.

  • wow u cut u lil finger og ur going to fuckin die go to the hospital before u lose a lil drop of blood

  • lol, who actually SAYS vids? its like going out and actually saying "lol"

    hahaha

  • @xwarslayerx haha i guess so but u dont have any VIDEOS uploaded so u dont understand everyone i know just calls em vids when we are talkin about it.

  • @MrGiantstpss what, cant you see my videos? i have 4 uploaded

    you should watch em

let me know if they arent there. thats weird

  • @MrGiantstpss actually ive always had videos uploaded

  • @xwarslayerx .......why do you even care? lol

  • if i get a video of my little engine could you help me out making it faster?I have two nieces that would really appreciate it.Two 12 year old driving me insane.LOL.If you can help me ill have them make a video on it tonight and send it to your You tube account

  • @lanegjones ya i guess but i wouldnt recommend it for them they'll probably blow the motor

  • you were talking for a minute about stuff i didnt care about even though you said you werent gonna go into detail AsS wipe!

  • @utubeisgay3 ya that was called for

  • @utubeisgay3 why dont you go fuck yourself!!And leave this guy alone you lonely bastard

  • can i remove the governor of a riding mower the same way

  • @naher1 ya

  • Great vid!!!

one question! whats better a torque converter or with out it... i had a 6 hp gokart with out it and now i have a 6hp with it and it runs slower...

  • @MARCOZR1 the torque converter should be faster is the one u have new? i might need to be serviced or something

  • @MrGiantstpss yea is a murray gokart same brand than the other.

well i may have to rebuild it... or wat should i do to regain the power??

    thanks again man

  • @MARCOZR1 i dont know see if the belt is worn and needs to be replaced i would start from their

  • thanks man but 1 thing what do u mean by pinching it

  • @oatmeal10killer not pinch the crankcase seal

  • hey buddy, quick question. soo if take the governor off on a golf cart wud that make that cart go faster and also u seem more knowlegeable on stuff liekthat. how else are u supoose to make ur golf cart go faster.

  • Would cutting/removing the linkage from the governor to the carb do the same as removing the governor? or would that just end up breaking something.

  • @GuyPyro87 just do it the way i said to in the video and it will work.

  • @MrGiantstpss I know doing it the way you said will work... I'm just asking for those who don't want to rip into a junker engine just to squeeze a few extra rpm's out of it. So I ask again, Would it work? Unless you don't know.. If thats the case, i'll ask someone who does.

  • @GuyPyro87 basically you could leave it together and just do the throttle linkage the same as mine

  • @MrGiantstpss ok, thanx.

  • dude your great, great vid everything, but isnt there a way to a have govenor throttle? my brother has one

  • @b3nishere ya im sure you could do that

  • i took the weights out and now when i start it it is like its stuck open on the gas and its flooding.. do you know how to fix that? thanks.

  • u need to make a throttle linkage like mine

  • Hey Ive Been looking Around On How To Take Off my Governor In my 94 Integra.. Would Happend To have A Video On How To Do That Or Were To Find One Would Ya?? Cant Find Any On Youtube All About 6-7 Hp Engines.. Get Back At me Would ya

  • Did you have to remove a gasket?

  • @jakezburns no

  • can't you just disconnect the linkage to the carb?

  • @snowman4839 yes but then u have the governor inside spinning around much faster and the little governor pieces could fly apart.

  • Cool little engines arent they? I have a 7hp one now and a 9hp I just got that Im getting ready to put on my go kart. Do you have any vids of the top end? Im curious to see like the valves and cam and stuff up there.

  • sorry i dont.

  • Good instructional vid, ive never worked on a robin engine before but is that chain a timing chain?

  • it most certainly is. subaru is the only company doing that for small engines right now to the best of my knowledge.

  • Thanks for the vid, my dads lawnmower started revving too high, now i know whats wrong thanks :)

P.S hope your finger gets better lol

  • Nice job man. Simple and to the point. Can't think of anything you left out actually.

  • you should seriusly make more vids

  • i am lol didnt u watch my vid. im gonna friday
