  • love for ever u2,,,this band and that zoo tv change my life 4 ever,,,and im thing all fans feells tha same,,,love u2 ever,,,portugal

  • i wasnt even alive for the first leg of the zoo tv tour :C

  • Did anybody else catch Larry in the background yelling "Don't believe a word" at 3:04?

  • @RoxanneJ81 holy joe no i didnt haha

  • This tour changed the band forever..It was groundbreaking and really exciting to go to one of their shows..And a privlage..

  • I wish I was 15 back then..

  • Can't believe they opened in Lakeland. LOL. No bands go to Lakeland now, they all go to Tampa.

  • @TriGGlety1974 I am very sorry man I did not see this whole conversation until now. Please except my apoligy. I will agree it would be awesome if they started to do something different and man an internet theme for their next tour (if they decide to have one) would be pretty awesome I will admit! I really do love the ZooTV era!

  • @TriGGlety1974 I don't know about that. I think they're pretty productive. They've just pulled off the biggest tour in the world making 700 million dollars and having 7.1 million fans.

  • I can't agree with Bono's last statement about losing the Pop kids.. I don't think it was a good idea to say something so alienating... U2 fans, I find, are among the most loyal.. I imagine Bono re-thought of not playing songs from the old classic albums as he and the band definitely nowadays have these hits on their concert playlist.

  • @SoccerRockNY Only alienating if you think of yourself as a "pop kid"... lol

  • @CurtisMarshall. You're the loser here. U2 are legends. Thank you sir!

  • wonder if they would bring this tour back? you know like how roger waters brought the wall back on tour? I'd pay to see it

  • wow..the start of the best tour that U2 HAVE EVER DONE...

  • Yes, this Zoo TV show was fantastic. Probably the best live show I have ever seen (or will see).

  • U2 played an 8,000 seat venue? I'll bet tickets were a whopping $25.

  • So true... Bono and U2 became what they mocked back then

  • "I'm Kurt Loder.......from the 90's."

  • @curtismarshall81

Lol, it's true that they are cocks now and actually before zootv. I ain't denying it cause it's so true. But before ZooTV Bono was accused of acting like a fucking rockstar (he really did) and then he said fuck it and showed the world who a rockstar is and created the Fly and MacPhisto, also taking on rich people with MirrorBall Man. The point is that it was great making him able to say things he normally couldn't.Mocking the music indusrty and TV.But he became what he mocked

  • The good old days when there music on MTV

  • Ahh... Those were the days. This was U2 at their high water mark. I'll always love them but I won't see them live anymore. It's gotten too big and ridiculous. They need to stop hanging out out with The Black Eyed Peas and Kanye and maybe start hanging out with Massive Attack. Just an opinion

  • @curtismarshall81

You obviously didn't get the point of the character.

  • anybody knows where i can buy that shirrt on0:59? plszz

  • anybody knows where i can buy that white shirt on 0:59? pls..!!!

  • @leferinkAG look in EBAY I got 1 for only 10 us dlls!!!. It's a great shirt,collectible!

  • @peskysolido

yes, but i cant find it! .. can you send me a link or something?

  • @leferinkAG check here balynce.com/store/ if not, keep looking on Ebay. Good luck!!

  • quite arrogant statemen of bono at the end of the interview *g*

  • id give anything to see them live!! they were great then it seems, great at glastonbury and will be for a long time!

  • Essa banda é 10, sem comentários !!!!!!!

  • 3:33 - brilliantly said. Too bad those times are over.

  • I have listened to U2 the day I was born (im 15 btw) My dad was a u2 fanatic and would always play joshua tree. When he gave me my first ipod, he filled it with all of their albums. I selected achtung baby and thought "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS SHIT". could not get into at the time but within a year, i decided to listen to it again and fell in love with it. People say joshua tree is their best album. I say Achtung Baby is the greatest album ever.

  • He was right that the real U2 fans were would be into it. I think the Achtung/Zooropa era was their most progressive and connected work. Too bad that they as a band decided to move away from today.

  • if i could have a Girlfriend like the one at 2:52, hard to find girls like that these days.

  • j still love U2, j saw 15 u2 gigs the 1st one in 1985 the last one 8 months ago!!...but achtung baby is their last great album!!

  • And the worst thing is that I wasn't in the world

  • 'We might lose some of the Pop kids, but....we don't need them.' I would LOVE to hear him say that NOW.

  • @Mrsilenciobackgammon im sure he would. They are U2, they don't need anyone now, and yet all of us true fans are there anyway.

  • @jimmybrown11111 I hear ya, I got my ticket. But the bravity for new material isn't as strong as it used to be. Let's just say we probably won't see Passenger 2.

  • @Mrsilenciobackgammon And then they released "one"...

  • i think this tour pushed u2 on to be the biggest band on the planet? the re-invention of the band was incredible....zootv introduced the band to a new generation of fans...

  • U2 if youre reading this, release Lakeland on DVD for the 20th anniversary of AB!!! PLEAZE!!!!!!!

  • Before Bono was geletaned by the global elite by the looks of things

  • You gotta wonder if that professionally filmed concert is making the rounds. If so, LET ME KNOW!!!

  • All of U2's songs are depressing. They remind me of the Smiths. If they are really Christians, where is the joy of living. Bono is the most off-putting and depressing individual.... Their music all sounds the same.

  • @fastfoodclowns You can't be serious, Bono is one of the most upbeat rock singers of all time, the guy runs laps on stage, used to jump off shit, shakes the people's hands and sings to the people about beautiful, relevant things.

  • @fastfoodclowns You need to listen harder.

Try "40" for starts. Then go onto Beautiful Day, then try Where the Street have no name, oh and don't forget about I will Follow, Shadows and Tall Trees, Grace, Two Hearts Beat as One..is that enough? You need more?

  • Did larry say, "dont believe a word" at 3:03 ?

  • @MuffinCharger Ha, that's hilarious. Shows you that Bono was intentionally putting on a facade.

  • "U2 will release One" ..wow

It turned out to be the Greatest song ever

  • What's even cooler about Bono giving the brush off to fair weather fans was that Achtung Baby went to on to become almost as successful as The Joshua Tree, albeit it took longer to get going. He joked the working title was 'Four Men Chopping Down The Joshua Tree'. I was only a kid when the tour kicked off and I can remember everyone being fascinated/baffled/confused by it. Not many bands still have that power. Apart from them.

  • Back when U2 used to be cool, they looked they this...

  • "First night, first night, it's all right!" Damn, sexiest guy ever.

I love how he walked away from the interview. "I'm gonna go..."

  • I saw them in Toronto, (92),...The Height of U2 Relevancy as far as I'm concerned...AWESOME SHOW-BAND...

  • I would do anything to see one of these shows. ANYTHING.

  • Will U2 ever eclipse this zootv tour?

  • Take me back to 1992!

  • I love that arrogant Bono rocker, wish he'd return :)).

  • 3:32 to 3:44 says it all. As a U2-fan of over 25years, I don't expect Bono to do anything more than want he wants. As long as that is providing amazing music and a die-hard performance, that works for me.

  • I want The Fly back...

  • I love this band but even i use that album as a coaster

  • @OneMileRiot ARE YOU SHITTING ME!!?? Easily their best album.

  • @midgehock No not shitting you, this is far from their best album, its just pop music, no heart and soul, just them trying to refresh their image. Dont get me wrong, i love their music, but you can hardly compare any of the music on this cd to Sunday Bloody Sunday or any of their earlier stuff.

  • @OneMileRiot Dude are you kidding me?? Achtung Baby was THEE ground breaking album for them. If they had done another album of "standards", they would have never made it till today. Thats just a fact and there is no getting around that. For me though, ALL U2 music is "the best thing since sliced bread" lol. There is sooo much heavy stuff in that album it will make your head spin if you actually get it. The album proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that they were not just an 80's band. Again. Fact

  • @midgehock If its so awesome why is it one of the only albums they dont play anything from live? Fact.

  • @OneMileRiot Are you kidding me right now lol???? Let me break this down for you. Pop Mart: Mysterious Ways, One, Even Better Than The Real Thing, Until The End Of The World were always on the set list with an extra thrown in there here and there. Elevation Tour: Mysterious Ways One, Until The End Of The World, The Fly and a few thrown in here and there. Vertigo Tour: Mysterious Ways One, Until.., The Fly, Zoo Station! U2 360: One, Until.., Ultraviolet, Mysterious Ways. All fact.

  • @midgehock Um yea, we're talking about two different cd's. Im talking about the Zooropa cd, the one this tour was for.

  • @OneMileRiot LMFFO! Okay that was pretty funny. Yeah Zooropa probably has the fewest songs I like on any other U2 album. Still a few pretty good ones though.

  • @OneMileRiot uhhh you're wrong this tour was for Achtung Baby this tour started in March of 1992....Zooropa didn't come out until June of 1993 and by the time it came out U2 had already toured America twice ...by the time Zooropa came out U2 was only touring Europe and Austrailia,New Zealand and Japan

  • americans are such cocks

  • @angus1878 America made U2 famous, so watch your mouth, while your at it, get off this site that was made by an American!

  • @OneMileRiot LOL, out of 3 youtube founders one was born in Taiwan and the other in East Germany

  • @z00h "LOL, out of 3 youtube founders one was born in Taiwan and the other in East Germany"

    Misleading.

Chad Hurley was born in the US.

Jawed Karim moved to the US when he was 12.

Steve Chen when he was 8.

Jawed and Steve were educated, and brought up in American schooling. To say they aren't American is silly.

Unless you omit Chad (again), and believe that Jawed and Steve had already conceived of Youtube at 12 & 8 respectively, you'll have to acknowledge that Youtube is American...

  • @MattyJames25 oh yes, thank god for the great hamerican heducation system

    watch?v=8XMvviFbkf0

  • @z00h Cute. We put her in the news for a reason. You are obviously her British counterpart.

    Enjoy youtube.

  • I can't believe they played to only 8000 people on opening night! They should've gone to a bigger arena!

  • I wish U2 drop the old hits. Half of the set list has been the same for too long! But a lot of people still cries for the Joshua Tree U2, stuck in time... I didn't believe that in an promotional gig in radio/tv/whatever last year there was people crying for Sunday Bloody Sunday instead of the new stuff from No Line... Don't get me wrong: I love Sunday... but, c'mon! Let's get the new stuff.

  • Zoo TV, Madison Camp Randall Stadium September 13, 1992...a wonderful time was had by all.

  • love them forever!

  • I want Macphisto and The Fly BAAAAACKKKKKK!!!!! O.o xDDDDD

  • I want Macphisto and The Fly BAAAAACKKKKKK!!!!! O.o xDDDDD

  • en su pleno apogeo de U2!!! pero pues siguen y siguen de pie, algo nada facil!!

  • i dunno about this " one" song i think it'll be a flop.

  • whats the name of the first song they were playing???

  • @neumn13 zoo station

  • @neumn13 At the concert? Zoo Station.

  • @VeritySeeker yeah i know. thanks lol

  • @neumn13 :)

  • min 3:38 "Might lose some of the pop kids...but we dont need them"

    LOL!

  • Agreed tere88mt...that was hot because Bono's has always been so humble and modest, he looked the part of a rock star and actually sounded like one in this clip...I think once in a while it's cool, especially when he's right :)

  • Today on February 28th would have been Zoo TV's 18th birthday. '' Time is a train, makes the future the past. When we're standin' in the station, your face pressed up against the glass.''

  • I miss this era it was their peak IMO

  • @lament666 me too.

  • "we might lose some of the pop kids... but- we don't need them..!" - oh i just love the cheeckyness and confidence with which he says it. Bono is The Legend...!

  • i love you toooooooo!!!avrei voluto esserci a quel concerto...peccato che ero troppo piccola!!

  • davvero!!! peccato... avrei pagato qualsiasi prezzo x esserci.... nn vedo l'ora ke arrivi il 360° tour!!

  • The coolest era for U2 was 1983-1984--HANDS DOWN!!!!!

  • i totally agree with those of you that thinks this was the coolest era - i mean, they were " real " rockstars here ! and i think it sucks that bono cut his hair of !

  • cool i love U2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • U2 need to get their edge back, they've wasted the best part of a decade trying to be hip - it has'nt worked - and they have'nt exactly done anything new since Popmart or Zoo TV...........Get on Your Boots - more like "Get off Your Boots".

  • It did suck that they didnt play "sunday bloody sunday" during this time.....

  • i was at that show. crazy. brings back a lot of good memories....

  • 90's U2, even better than the real thing...

in which the real thing is U2 today

  • The Zoo TV/Zooropa era was U2 at its coolest point. I'd have done anything to get into those shows. I like the U2 we have now. But I LOVE the U2 of back then.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow. Music fans were much smarter and eloquent back then.

  • I became a U2 fan during this time and I miss they way the band was back then. I don't care if it was real or an act - that U2 is the U2 I fell in love with. They are still a great band but too worried about what everyone thinks of them. Bono needs to find the Fly again...that was the best thing he or any other rock star has ever done.

  • Comment removed

  • @myklrl This is their greatest era, so creative musically and visually.

  • Yes they made me feel better back then. In the nineties everything was about the end of ideologies, socialism, history, everything, and they made it feel pretty exciting. They turned it into a freedom.

  • ahh when U2 ruled the world

  • This is when M in MTV stood for Music...now its just Mediocre...U2 are probably one of the only few real musicians still out there.

  • Comment removed

  • thats if you look at mainstream music then yes, they are one of the few.

  • this is when Mtv was the shitz nitz!! now i tune in and see a hobbit making out with two chicks!!

  • Seen from today it's a funny and cool show, but back then it was shocking. My first U2 show, I was 16 and felt like the interviewed girl. So much of what U2 was standing for was gone and I felt kind of betrayed. All this cynicism didn't seem like just a "phase" or joke. They really tried to actually BE cynical. And they were. Today it looks different altogether and I guess it was important for them to admit that aspect of their personalities to be expressed. Makes them even more authentic today.

  • THE BEST U2 ERA.!

  • Se algum BRASILEIRO VER ESSE VIDEO E CONSEGUIR POSTE ELE LEGENDADO PLZ!

  • I lined up all night outside the Birmingham NEC. Let me say, Well Worth IT. Amazing Tour, Amazing Show, Amazing Merchandise. THIS WAS THEIR BEST SHOW.........FANTASTIC!!

  • i wish i was around for this

    back when mtv was watchable

  • wow... to me, a u2 fan (I was four years old back then) for about 7-8 years, Bono showed himself as a bloody twat.

  • "We might lose some of the pop kids but... we don't need them." lol! Bono had a big mouth back then. (: I love him!

  • ZOOTV RULES!!!!!

  • Bono was a fucking dance machine during ZOOTV :o)

    woOOOOOOO

  • Oh by the way just to let everyone know, Kurt Loder is actually locked up in MTV's basement. Just thought I would share.

  • ahhh back when bono was cool

  • and when MTV played some great music not the crap they play nowadays.

  • Hey Piper. You're a cunt. Go fuck yourself.

  • "We might lose some of the pop kids but...we don't need them" BONO IS AWESOME!!!

  • I don't like the song, but it is about Michael Hutchence's suicide, so I don't know how it's a retarded pop song.

  • I love watching what was once MTV. Also, what really gives me chills is the part at the end when Kurt says that One will SOON BE released.. WOW... just thinking that ONE wasent even released yet as a single just gives me chills....man has time passed us by,

  • they were "were" so fucking cool back then.

  • why do you emphasize "were"? they "are" even cooler post-2000

  • amazing....is there anyone can say they are not the best rock band in the whole

    world?

I went to see this in 1993 in Naples. fantastic can't forget that night, actung baby is one of their best album ever made.

  • that was great!!!!!

    and that was MTV!!!

    now is CRAPTV!!!

  • I watched this MTV clip when it first aired. I was a huge U2 fan then and now. When Bono said they didn't need the pop kids, I jumped off my couch, my hands became fists and I yelled "YEAH!!!!!" on pure instinct. This was exactly what I needed to hear from him and he delivered! Thanks Bono!

  • This was the first concert of Zoo TV?

  • U2 condoms lol omg that's gotta be Bono's idea

  • "We might lose some of the pop kids, but, we don't need them."

Think about that. Bono basically tells all the fair weather fans, MILLIONS of record buyers, to go F themselves. That is the definition of BALLS.

    Brilliant.

  • @skrason True, even though I am a fan of U2, there was a lot of arrogant stuff about them as well. You can't even it out with being into charity, though it also doesn't prevent them being a quality band, I guess it does take a bit of soul to get as big as them.

  • Wow... what a concert... I hope I will find some titckets for the new tour in Milan... someone knows if is difficult to find some?

  • back when mtv had music... good old days.

  • fuckin right!

  • i saw the zoo tv show in frankfurt.amazung !!!!!!!

  • Kurt Loder is such a friggin tool

  • YEAHHHHHHH THE BEST TOUR ZOO TV 92 and 93

    U2 U2 U2 U2 U2 U2 U2 U2 U2

THE BEST BAND FROM THE WORLD

THE NEW ALBUM 2009 TOUR 2009

  • Yeah,

ZOO TV Tour will remain forever in history...i was 12 ehwn i reasd those things about the Tour on every magazine, also non specialized one.

An Bono's alter egos such as The Fly or MacPhisto rules.

  • I've seen U2 9 times and the Zoo Station shows from Minneapolis and Kansas City are by far the best! Although, I was too young for War, Unforgatable Fire and Joshua Tree tours. Love this post!

  • I would kill MYSELF for a pair of tickets! I'd probably be so happy, I'd die anyway XD

  • Same here of course

  • i would run naked for some tickets , i dont care!!!, u2 all the way!!!! u2 fucking rule!

  • Good stuff. That brings back some good memories.

  • Everyone goofed on ZooTV and now many bands basically rip it off

  • I met them here in Lakeland during this week of rehearsels, and I must say they are way cool! very nice and signed anything. I remember bono came out back late one night and this man had his little son maybe 3 I would say. Bono took off his shades and let the little guy wear them the whole time he signed, and continued poseing for pic. and he has just unbelievable charisma! A class act and a true rocker!!!

  • "We might lose some of the pop kids but...we don't need them"

    Kick Ass.

He might not admit that today but the senitiment has never been more apt when your "competition" is Britney Spears.

  • realy thanx man !!!!

  • whats the song from u2 at 1:18 plz tell me i like that song :P

  • it's called zoo station. from achtung baby...

  • I WANT that Arrogant BONO BACK!!!

  • No kidding. I wonder how many of the "pop kids" saw that clip and moved on. I also wonder if they were trying to lure them back with "Pop" only to give them the most commercially unviable record possible just to toy with the "pop kids"

Too bad, you have to lose that edge when trying to save the world...

  • actually the name pop was sacrastic.. because there isnt a single POP SONG on that album...

  • @santiago2u ME TOOOOO!!!!!

  • @santiago2u If you think about it, he's still there.

  • Bono is sexy innhe??!!

  • Thanks Brain Eno & Daniel Lanois...

  • zooropa the best cotton pickin show this here white man has ever been and seen amen. in roundhey park leeds england, the same park where one of the yorkshire rippers victims was found near to the pavillion. i know cos i pissed up the wall of that same pavillion after the show and some guy says to me have you no respect, i said why and he told me the story so i told him to fuck off and he did, like great.

  • I miss the 90's :(

  • I think this is the best Tour in the life of U2, the songs of the Achtung Baby album are like the art... poetry.

  • I totally agree, and this first night should be out on DVD. Even better than the real thing is played in its original tune. Real rare.

  • Bono was kind of a jerk back then... he would never say "pop kids... we don't need them"

  • But that's what I like...a rock star with some attitude and balls. It's rock n roll, not a hug fest.
