Fuck me ...This is nice and LOUD... Let's Rock then! Edmunds and Lowe are fuckin Bosses. Just heard the crackle at the end . That's the secret, upload the vinyl
Thanks Lord!! I've been searching fot his song for years. :D I heard it at the readio a only remember the rhytm of the music and no lyrics... And now, finally, by chance a found it... Let's dance and sing! ? :D
@Alikah1 Sorry, but the Fats Domino version is superior to the Gale Storm version. She has this tendency to clip her syllables when she should draw them out during the lyrics. Fats sings it lazy and slow like it's supposed to be sung. Dave sings it fast but he still knows how to elongate. Gale just skips through it really strangely, elongating in some places and clipping in others where it would sound better to draw it out.
@TheDukeljk I think there are many other songs much more deserving of that title. Dave Edmunds at least has some appreciable talent. What about 99 Luft Balloons? That one blows chunks as far as I'm concerned.
This is one of the few gems, like say Bang a Gong or Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo that you've heard for decades and when it pops up on a classic rock station you still say YES!!
i had the album " subtle as a flying mallet " a million years ago - 1 of the first and best loved of all my old vinyls - sadly now long gone. proper proper good : )
I just thought how I love this song so much I'd let it be played at my funeral and then I thought my parents might not find that too great ooooo irony....
when this song was released, it was the hardest rock song on a.m radio , even tho they cut the song in half. the vocals were tryin to mimic early 50s./even tho it sounds more like WINCHESTER CATHEDRAL, check it out.
@BlackHallow55 I Love This Music, But God Forbid We Have Our Own Opinion... Who Cares If They Don't Like It They Probably Wack Off To Pictures Of Justin Bieber
This is NOT the full album version of the song. There is a 5:19 version of the song that's on the compilation titled "Complete Seventies - Various Artists" that was put out by the EMI label in 2005 & I think is now rare & out of print. The longer 5 min plus version is extremely hard to find.
If you check out Lennon Remembers (Book) , he name checks this song as being one of the best things out back then, - about 1970 'ish. - He wasn't far wrong..
They say 'if you like a song you prefer the 1st one you heard' & for me it was Dave Edmonds (U.K #1, 21st-Nov-70), his 1st & biggest of 12 hits & 1 of 4 top 10s "I Hear You Knocking" is a popular rhythm and blues song with emphatic syncopation, written by Dave Bartholomew and Pearl King and published in 1955. The original recording was made by Smiley Lewis, reaching #2 on the Billboard R&B singles chart but not a hit in the U.K.
